fantastic and easy win.great to see welbeck get a couple
and i have to say i love watching the tough and guile of
perez.what a quality signing he has been and he should
be now pushing for a first team start.adelaide looks a
very good player for the future.into the next round and
    that’s all that counts.

now we have a huge prem lge week in watford and chelski.
i have to be honest and say if chelski beat pool, then i
think thats it because their tails will be up,but the one
thing i have grown to love & hate about this wonderful club
i love is when we are written off in a one of game we have
history of pulling it off.can we do it again.well,we have
to beat watford first, let’s think about chelski after that?
great performance and i don’t think there’s a better squad
    in the country.

This is just a win against a weakened Southampton team. I am not blown away at all.

One win against a really youthful saints squad and we all of sudden have the best squad in the league??? Not a chance.

We do deffo have more depth than seasons gone by but don’t let today cover your glasses with rose tints.

Yes we played very well, and I will for me personally Adelaide was exceptional in the middle of the park, comfortable and strong on the ball kind of like a pre injury diaby. Naitlin-miles played really well as well. All round we played fantastically well.the game and saints team selection played into our hands massively!

I complety agree; we have the most depth in the premier league and the best depth we have ever had. Changing the front three to Walcott, Welbeck and Perez (how good did he look?) shows the depth going forward. I thought Ox played well in the middle and The Jeff looked great.

What annoys me about Wenger is sometimes the lack of rotation, surely if we are to win the league (and I still think we can) it will require him to play who is on form – there is clearly a wealth of choice and many players to freshen things up so I hope he mixes things up.

Steve, take no notice of Pool, any points Chelsea lose good, but Chelsea v Arsenal is going to be massive – I think its between them and us for the title. It would be a huge statement if we won and I think we can. Football changes quickly, a few months ago after we destroyed them there were rumours Conte was to be sacked – now look!

Oh dear, here with go again with the best squad in the PL garbage. They made as many changes as us and it became a reserve game. We still have huge weaknesses especially in defence in virtually all positions. Wenger got lucky with his team selection gamble. Saying that the team he picked played really well, much more fluid with the ponderous Xhaka and far more mobility with Perez, Walcott and Welbeck. Maitland-Niles looks a far better midfield player than full back and Raining in South Australia looks a very skilful and silky player. Welbeck was brilliant and Walcott ran him close for player of the match, give him the service and he will score goals. It’s a shame that our perennial defensive weaknesses will be our undoing again.

oh dear oh dear, one good result and you’re back at it again with the height of exaggeration
and fickleness.I’m not going to take any credit away from Arsenal but for all we know southampton had an off day.

If you’ve forgotten,we were forced to play a midfield 3 of Oxlade, rene adelaide and maitland niles. They might have done well on the day but that by no means is the best squad in the PL!Chelsea, city and Man united all have better squads.Easily.

we have better squads that pool, utd, easily.seems like the same
old couple of muppets come on here and give it the big one,but
suprise, suprise,do they ever really get behind the team.no
chance.what other club can loan out a quality player like wilshere
who would easily get in utd’s & pools team, even citeh’s.

oracle & the special dopey one want to put the team down at
all costs and does anyone really believe they are real gooners.
oracle has had more alliasses and have caused more
arguments on here like the school boy he is.what true gooner
names himself after moanio i’ll never know.may’be he thinks
he’s that important.personally i don’t care what you two prats
think,we have the best squad in the prem lge.

Steve, completely agree mate. How many teams can make ten changes and still field players of the quality of Welbeck, Theo, Ox, Gibbs, Bellerin and Ospina?

I just don’t get people who slag off the manager and the squad – if both are so poor, then we should be really happy with a top four place (and St Totteringham’s Day) every season.

Fact is, we have a great squad with arguably the most strength in depth and the most frustrating thing about Wenger is that he so rarely gets the best out the players he’s assembled. It’s about 95% of the reason I want a change of manager.

As for the game, great to see Danny back and scoring. Going back to our great form earlier in the season, we had Sanchez, Oz, Theo and Iwobi ripping teams apart. Welbeck’s a better, more experienced player than Iwobi and offers a lot more mobility than Giroud – really hope Wenger’s going to give him a decent run now.

Great to see Theo looking fresh and getting a hat-trick, Reine-Adelaide just suddenly seems to have turned a corner and both Maitland-Niles and Holding did very well. Gibbs reminded how much better he is at attacking than defending but I do love it when he goes forward!

It’s a fair argument to say we should have beaten Soton, but to beat them with such ease, at their place, with a team made up mostly of reserves and players returning from injury made that the best game I’ve watched this season since the 3-0 against the Chavs. It also points to the excellent strength in depth we have.

    C’MON YOU GUNNERS!!!

PS Anyone else get the feeling we’re getting the (very, very lucky) Tiny Totts in the next round?

This is the best squad we have had in ten years. Forget yesterday’s game but on paper we have two first 11,s the only back up position I am not sure about is right back. I don’t know all of city and united squad but I don’t see any second 11 better than this? Ospina, debuchy, Gabriel, holding,Gibbs,Xhaka,Ox,Ramsey, welbeck, iwobi,Perez.

Steve68, If you want to carry on deluding yourself you carry on but anyone who thinks we have the best squad in the PL is truly ‘one-eyed’. Yesterday was a reserve game nothing else so you get carried away if you want, I’ll get carried away when we have won the PL or CL. If our squad is that good why don’t we win both EVER. And I promise you I have been a Gooner much longer than you have and I go to far more games than a Closet Swansea supporter. Grow up.

I don’t think a lot can be read into this result. Although, I’m very pleased to see the win and players on the fringe looking good. Southampton were very disjointed and a second string played. There back line was there for the taking.
Gentlemen, midweek three points and then Chelsea. This will be the “yardstick”. Chelsea look good and very confident. If we beat them, this will indicate we can win the league. A very big test, both mentally and team selection wise. To win, will get the players into believing they can do it. I won’t consider a loss, as, in my opinion, it will cause the opposite.

    Carpe diem.

remind me how many times have you been banned on here for you’re
little school boy rants at other’s.remind me why a lot of genuine
gooners don’t come on here because of you.and you have the cheek
to tell other’s to grow up.as usual you spit your dummy out of
the pram when challenged or don’t get his own way.you aint nothing
    but a little coward.

I’ll tell you how many times I’ve told people like you that we won’t win the PL under your hero. 365×13 which, and I’ll help you here, 4745. And guess how many times I’ve been right and you Wenger luvies have been wrong. Yes 4745. Still never mind, in your world we have the best squad in the PL so if you say it we must have.

Shifty likes to give it large on here to be fair, you would never believe he has been to Arsenal as he likes to constantly reiterate that ‘I have a season ticket’ or ‘I have been to more games than you.’ What are the odds that the guy hasn’t a season ticket and/or just watches matches from the comfort of his home. Again, nothing wrong with that but just don’t brag about something that is probably not true.

Al.morning mate.i think me and you are on the same page about
the squad and manager.i look at utd’s,citeh’s,pool’s bench,
and it’s knowhere near as strong as ours.i think we both agree
100% that wenger is not getting the best out of this squad.

i’m so happy for theo.19+2 games and 14 goals.as any other wide
player got that record even though some might be better players?
i think i’m right in saying we have scored more headed goals
than any other team this season.in saying that we have to question
are the like of klopp, guardiola overrated??most of us gooners
would have taken either but guardiola has had it easy at barca
and munich.to question himself publicly by saying he might not
be good enough must be a huge concern for the citeh fan.

i know a pool fan who thinks they will never win the prem lge
under klopp because his high energy press game aint suited to
    a 38 prem lge campaign?that’s their problem,but i can’t help but
think that a ancelotti/simeone would get more out of us,especially
in the big games where our record aint that great so far.a big,big
    week coming up now.

bsm walk, that’s because the big mouths on here and the Wenger lovers have obviously never been in the ground or know where it is. Most of them don’t even live in the country whereas real fans go to games home and away and have supported the club for a number of years. Some people on here actually believe Arsenal didn’t win a trophy before Wenger arrived. The MTV Football Manager generation who ramble about ‘stats’ but don’t have the knowledge to make an intelligent judgement themselves. These people make me sick so I will show them up for what they are whenever they start to let their mouths run away with themselves.

Yes mate, well done if you attend games – I do too. And like I said, I don’t want Wenger here, but there’s nothing wrong with supporting the team. End of the day, they are gooners by default.

bam walk, sorry, you can’t watch a match on TV, buy a shirt and claim to be a Gooner. It takes true dedication and a belief nothing else matters. The Real Fans have it, the rest make me sick, they will be supporting Chelsea or Man Utd next year. I have no time or respect for these people, I treat them with the contempt they deserve. And the ones who support Arsene FC and not Arsenal FC are the worst.

    Sorry,

But whether you go to games or not, is only relevant, if you CAN go to games. Your love for Arsenal FC should be your measure.
When I was in England, I went to all games at Highbury. I went to other grounds too, including Wembley. It made no difference to the club I supported, the North bank was my home.
Since leaving the country, my support of Arsenal did not diminish, in anyway, as I believe a true supporter should be. As they say, “Absence makes the heart grow fonder”.
To denigrate other people on the premise of, “If you don’t go to to games, you’re not a true supporter” should to be treated, by right thinking people, with the contempt it deserves.
If you can go to matches, and then don’t, well that’s your problem. For those of us “overseas”, we envy you your physical closeness. It however, does not make me less of a gooner.

    Gooner for life.
