I didn’t see the match but was amazed as the goals kept flying in. Hopefully DM’s found a system with the fabulous Barnes playing behind an increasingly dynamic duo ahead giving us a major goal threat. Next week is critical to see if Darren gets his tactics right. The disappointment today as others have noted is that the manager brought Barry, Morrison and Kanu-R on when the situation was crying out for Field and Burke to be given some game time particularly in view of their top line performances in midweek. The last thing we want is for our youngsters to leave in the manner of Roofe and Wood who are now top line players for Leeds and Burnley.

Having only seen some very limited highlights (the goals took up too much time!) it seems unlikely that we will meet a team as poor as QPR were in the second half again but that said we rightly put them to the sword and credit where credit is due. Against better teams the inclusion of Dawson will be a must and I have to say I join the widespread disappointment in not seeing our youngsters given any game time. Methinks the trainee manager is unwilling or unable to tell the senior players they haven’t made the team and if this persists it will be the tail wagging the dog this season? Why on earth is Barry still here? The ability to motivate is a considerable asset but it is the management of change that identifies a good or great manager and there is no indication yet that DM has any such quality but results speak for themselves and so far so good.
