@moral – That’s the worry for me mate, I’m not at all confident that he did know how bad those players you mentioned really were, despite him seeing them all first hand for over 6 months
That’s a massive indictment of his lack of sound judgement, and a really big problem for us whilst he is still in the job.

Why is Harry Maguire (most expensive defender in history) allowing someone to chest the ball 4 yards from goal, then flick it over his left shoulder, swivel and volley the ball into an empty net? First and foremost you never let a striker score a goal that easily, sure it’s a mistake from Wan Bissaka to try and get a tackle in but where is Maguire? You’d never see Vidic all at sea when the ball was in the box.

We conceded a goal early in the season where Maguire was on our left touchline, can’t remember who it was against, but he was stood on our left touchline having just taken a shit free kick. And again I thought, I’ve never seen Nemanja Vidic in that position. A top CB plays mostly in that narrow corridor between the edges of the area and the half way line – occasionally covering a full back. But generally they’re in front of the goal to stop goals happening. When I see Maguire having a shot or hanging just outside the opposition area I think to myself he’s more interested in trying to be a forward player than he is a defender.

That goal we conceded today was fucking amateur! You’ve got Wan Bissaka as the only defender marking their best forward, Maguire is nowhere to be seen and you’ve got Lindelöf actually sprinting away from the striker with the ball. Watch it again Lindelof runs away, towards the edge of the area!! It’s one of the worst goals I can remember us conceding and it’s because we don’t have a defender who is passionate about stopping goals!

Another absolute bollocks performance! Actually upsetting thinking Wayne Rooney used to be our No. 10 and now we have Andreas Pereira…

    Happy, fair points above.
Can I add to this, in relation to the goal, with one of my pet hates from Young (usually) and Shaw (always) is how fucking easily players are allowed to cross (practically pass) the ball into the box from that flank. Today Young and Fred were caught by the bollix.

AWB never lets an opposition player get the cross in from his flank and we need the same from the other flank. Williams has perfected that in the games Ive seen him to date. Its fucking bread and butter defending by a full back. Young is not a natural defender while Shaw is far too lazy and unfit to close down the man and the space.

@happy – The harsh reality is that we have dropped yet another massive transfer fuck up by paying 80m for Maguire mate, who in essence is a slow, clumsy oaf. He is only marginally better than all the other useless fuckers we have playing at CB at OT, so in ‘partnership’ with the Swedish pussy it is only an accident waiting to happen every week I’m afraid.

Nemanja had many such ‘red mist’ moments in his time, but Ferdinand was always there to pull him out of the shit when he did, that’s the big difference now.
Having said all that, conceding just one goal in any game shouldn’t prove terminal as it does for us far too often these days, and losing games against teams like Palace, West Ham, Newcastle and Bournemouth by early November, is really piss poor.

Apparently, Ole has already lost more PL games in charge of us than Klopp has in his entire time at Anfield, and he has had 104 more PL games in charge than Ole has, that is a proper frightening stat to contemplate right there.

@Happy i’ve had a few shandy’s since the end of the game but from what i remember Maguire actually has King but then tracks a run he never needed to and vacates the centre leaving Wan Bissaka to go in there. That for me was the worst part of it. He should know as the most experienced and physical defender in the squad that he needs to be the one to cover the danger in the middle. We don’t look organised or have patterns in any of the 3 lines and that has to be Ole’s responsibility. Thought his nuatulent post match interview with BT was also poor. Defeats like that for a Utd manager should feel like someone has just kidnapped your kids

Moral – Yeah a friend I was watching the game with was saying that too, everything came down our left hand side. Ash Young has to go ASAP, I’d have Williams over him now in any game.

Blacky – I’m fucked off with the entire defence mate. Lindelof is hanging onto his United career by a thread, I’d have Nathan Ake for £70m and on double the salary in the summer over him! But Maguire needs to put defending first, he’s trying to be too clever with the ball at his feet. Today he missed several headers, he loses the track of the ball from goal kicks far too easily for my liking too. I’m not gonna say he’s a waste of money just yet because VVD was pretty average for Liverpool for the first 6 months. But that is a frightening stat about Ole and Klopp, let’s face it though they’re not in the same league as managers are they?

N1xer – yep, totally agree mate. “We’ve been undone by a bit of magic in the end today”.

No, Ole you’ve lost to fucking Bournemouth! There’s no fucking magic, it’s just shite and falls well below the standard of a united team and a united manager.

You can’t look at the team sheet and see Fred, McTominay and Periera and think yeah we’re gonna boss the midfield! The amount of players this team needs is actually frightening. A new left back, at least 1 centre back, 3 new midfielders and a right winger and a striker.

Happy,so the penny finally dropped. Klopp is the man, told you that many years ago but you never listened.

Sadly i seems to be right about Maguire and if we dnt get rid of Pereira,Fred,Mata,Matic,Young any time soon we are fucked for a long time.
Not to mention Jones and Rojo.

Williams looks very good, our other youngsters may not cut it.
Same old story in the last decade,we need 7-8 new players in!

Blacky-Klopp is on another galaxy compared to Ole,mate! Ole looks absolutely lost & clueless, and Im afraid something has to be done sooner rather than later because we cant keep going on like this, losing every single away game.

Forget about Pool n City, by close of business tomorrow we will be 10 points behind Chelsea and Leicester.

After 11 games, that is some going.
Chelsea who had a transfer ban and brought in Lampard, and Leicester who sold Ham Head but have gone from strength to strength on the pitch.

    The question is as follows:
Does OGS realise, like the rest of us, that Lindelof, Shaw, Fred, Jesse, Andy will never offer the requisite quality to enable the club return to even top 4 status?

If he doesn’t, he won’t see out the season.

@happy – I would gladly take 75% (60m) of our wasted money back on Maguire in January and bring Smalling back from Roma in a heartbeat, that’s how much he has ‘impressed’ me so far!

The lack of creativity in midfield was our undoing yet again. McTominay is not top quality but good at certain things whereas Pereira and Fred are neither one thing or the other. There is absolutely no service to our front 3. Maguire and Lindelof will never work as a partnership and how the Swede is still at United is a complete mystery. The same goes for Young, Fred and Pereira as well as most of the players who didn’t start. The team’s had a few positive results but this game didn’t suggest anything we didn’t know already: we’re a mediocre mid-table team at best and won’t ever be anywhere near the top with these players, this coaching staff or these owners.

Roygbiv – I’ve said it a few times how embarrassing it is seeing the lad Pereira running around. I’d love him to be good but he’s just so average it’s unbelievable. I’d have Garner ahead of him, Zlatan or even Paul Scholes back. He has no real identity as a player, no real clue as to what role he’s supposed to perform and it’s a huge indictment of the current management team that he is played so often in different roles without any sort of talent whatsoever!

@moral – It’s one thing to be so far behind the teams you mentioned after just 11 games mate, but it’s another thing altogether to be below Sheffield United, Palace, Brighton and Bournemouth with nearly a third of the season gone.

Our opinions on this group of players are clear, and those of us who have been saying how bad they are have been proven to be 100% categorically correct on every single one of them. BUT as bad as they all are, they should not be being shown up so badly by a promoted team and the like who are operating on a fraction of our budget, and with clearly inferior squads.

This is squarely down to a completely out of his depth, clueless manager and the assorted group of chinless wonders sat next to him on the bench, who are basically just a bunch of incompetent yes men, simple as that.

Black you’re spot on mate. If you look at the thread when we signed MaGuire I said it’s a bad move. Not because he’s a bad defener but due to having him and Lindelof as a pairing. You can’t have 2 cart horses is what I said at the time. 2 CB’s have to be opposites. Rio was quick and Vidic was tough. One is usually tough as nails and the other is more cultured. Stam was tough and Ronnie Johnson was a cultured CB. Terry was tough and Gallas/Carvalho were more cultured. Skrtel was tough and Agger was more cultured. You usually find that one is tough but slower and the other is quicker, more cultured, stays on his feet and is good on the ball.

    Oh Blacky you’re so unhappy.

😂😂 You’re not kidding mate! The only thing Ole can do short term for now is to drop Lindeloaf and play Tuanzebe alongside Maguire. At least he will then have a partner with the pace and power to cover him when he gets isolated, unlike the Swedish pussy, who instead of engaging with a rampaging opponent prefers to run in the opposite direction and leave it to everyone else to sort out, just like the true coward that he is.

Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening because Ole seems oblivious to all our many defensive shortcomings, particularly Lindelof’s.Having a proper beast of a DMF player to call upon would help massively as well.

Thank God we stayed away from Varane and Griezmann, both extremely overrated, overpriced and past their best.
