Brentford i knew were a good championship team and would be a big test. We got lucky and got a point.
Brentford played it out from the back under no pressure and passed and moved up the pitch and when out of possession pressed as a team, a system i thought we would play this season.
Brentford themselves missed several good chances and Jack made a couple of saves. We gave the ball away when pressed by poor passes and long ball launches. Sawyers i noticed from the first few minutes just ran centrally 25 yards either side of half way line up and down and the ball was passed to him and he would have several options with players running forward at different angles, Rowett and the team either ignored trying to stop it or did not see it.
They gave us a lucky goal totally against the run of play, we then had a 5 minute spell and nearly scored again, then back to all Brentford who scored a great goal.
Early days and lots to think about for the management team and getting the team to gel and be up to speed with the better teams in this league Leeds and Brentford.
The championship after 10 year absence it was a different experience attending yesterday. The walk up to ground was quieter and in the ground certainly not as busy under the main stand on the concourse though the coffee prices are up 10p for the same poor brew not many options (still).
The stands again for atmosphere was in mourning for the loss of PL status no great noises not helped by the team. Many familiar faces absent whether holiday or not renewing.
Also lining up before kick off is low key, absence of injury time board in the first half and after watching the first two games the refereeing standard is taking time to get use to as what was a foul/booking etc in the PL is different in the EFL and yesterdays bloke (Davies) to me was inconsistent with decisions to both teams and the assistants seem only involved for throwing ins/offside and not trying to be the i am.
