Not really confident going into this one, especially with the CM still not sorted.

Think it will be a 1-1 and a poor start to the season, but hopefully it will trigger off the need to get another CM in ASAP.

Good side Brighton with a good manager. Hope it doesn’t end in tears but there’s every chance it could.

Seems there are only 2 places in the team up for grabs. Centre back next to Maguire and CM next to Fred. Eriksen has so much more composure on the ball than Bruno, wonder if he’ll put pressure on the No. 10 position?
Also not seen much of Shaw recently, is his time up?

Should be beating Brighton but agree it’s hard to be confident…

Malacia definitely in ahead of Shaw and Telles needs to be sold. We’ve all being saying for years that we need an out and out DM but it still hasn’t happened. De Jong isn’t the answer there either to be honest. He’ll link defence and midfield but he’s not an anchorman in that sense. Sangare must be an option in that case. I think it’ll be a tricky match. It’ll be interesting to see how things work out with a vocal manager on the sideline, OGS and RR were mutes.

Got a feeling EtH will start with the ‘safe option’ of McFred in the middle 😞

With 5 subs now been allowed, I expect Eriksen, Garnacho and one of Mejbri/ Iqbal to get at least half hour of gametime

@homerjay540, agreed re McFred but not overly confident of Garnacho, Majbri or Iqbal getting time; it’s been very very rare for any United manager down the years to give kids game time in the Premier League.

I don’t think ETH will have a choice but to give time to the kids as some of the “senior” either have the wrong attitude or just aren’t good enough. At this point in time I’d rather see the kids lose while trying than watch the soul destroying lethargy and indifference of the older players.

Come on Killy, the season hasn’t started yet! We are much improved under ETH. It will take more time to learn the system, but he plays a more positive, fast passing run at defenders style. If we get a good start then we could have an interesting season. If we start poorly the confidence could go again and it will be paper planes all round.

Welcome back Alfie, been a while! You may notice a slightly negative tone around the entire forum. Just a heads up!! 😉

Alfie, most of the “senior” players have been through 4 if not 5 managers, from RR to Ole, Jose, LVG, Giggs and Moyes and they haven’t changed. What Ferguson did well was ensuring they didn’t think they’d made it when they got to OT. Many of these guys think they’re the pinnacle, the top of the food pyramid, the alpha predators, many would struggle to get into West Ham’s first XI, let alone a Utd XI under Sir Alex. The fact that a few are still here isn’t a testament to their ability, just to the clubs inability to shift deadwood. I’m not negative about ETH or his system, just about some of the senior players to adapt to it and work as hard as he wants them to.

If McFred remain our midfield partnership this year, and if we don’t bring in a top notch winger (to replace Rashford) and RB (to replace Dalot), expect that we will be 6th at best this season.

100% Spot on Killy. I don’t think its negative at all to be pissed off seeing players who have been at the club for 5 or 6 years and constantly failed to deliver making up the vast majority of the starting 11 for next year. I am sure if we had 5 or 6 quality new players in the fanbase would be buzzing. Meanwhile, the De Jong farce rumbles on and on.

It’s the same old positives calling out the negatives when, quite frankly, there’s fuck all to be positive about yet again. How the fuck people try and put these positive spins on when it’s fucking obvious we’re going to be watching Citeh and the scousers carve up the spoils again is just fucking dumb. Don’t you just hate ‘nice’ people. We play the scousers third game in at OT and I’d take a draw now, because if we lose that it’s bye bye to yet another fucking season.

@sympathy, apparently AWB is ‘up for sale’. We’ve actually been linked with a few RB’s – Pavard, Dumfries, Aarons at the start of the window, I reckon if we manage to being in a little cash for some of our transfer listed defenders a RB will he joining

@Homer-With the speed at which we currently operate in the market then we’ll probably get a new RB in for the 2025 season.

JM – I don’t really understand the negativity. Well i do, but surely we all know where we’re at right now? Yes it’s going to be City and Liverpool contesting the Premier League title. Yes we’re going to have a patchy season as ETH beds in and gets the players to buy into his philosophy. And no we’re probably not going to win any trophies. But Ole’s gone and you should be the happiest man in the world for that! Ralf is gone and i think the players are happy about that. In ETH we look to have a manager who actually has a design for winning and attacking football, he might just turn out alright. No one really knows what’s going to happen this season, Sancho looked good in the friendlies maybe he’ll be brilliant this year. Maybe Eriksen will be amazing for us. If you wanted to try to look at some positives there are plenty there. There are some negatives too of course.

But if you’re not excited that football is back then why watch it?
