Why can’t they?, the evidence under every single manager they play under says differently! And it’s not “just one game” is it?, it’s years of gross incompetence and ineptitude from the same old suspects every single time they pull on the shirt.

Fact is, your mate Gashy and the rest can’t even be relied upon to give us a 5/10 performance from one month to the next, so what chance is there of an 8 or 9/10 every now then? The obvious answer to that question is never, so why in fucks name are they still at the club?

Rashford and Bruno were brilliant 2 seasons ago, that’s the problem. The club think they will get back to those levels. Shaw was also very good that year. So that’s where we’re stuck. It’s not like Alex Telles where we’ve realised pretty quickly that he’s shit so we’ve shipped him out. Sancho needs a chance to prove himself here after being brilliant for Dortmund.
But there is a lot of dross in the first 11, from back to front. I know i keep banging on about Dalot but i just cannot believe he’s our first choice right back. I mean, if he was some sort of brilliantly creative player when he got forward i’d understand but he isn’t. And he can’t defend at all and i always think that’s the first thing you need to be able to do as a defender.

Regardless of that though, ETH basically needs his own team. An 11 of players that he’s bought, only then will we start to see his vision on the pitch. Apart from the new signings will any of those players be at the club in 3 years time?

Every time I saw Sancho for Dortmund he was as average fuck, and not even that for Ingerland. We were fucking mugged mate, yet again.

Bruno had a great first year admittedly, but I would hardly ever describe Rashford as being “brilliant”. Fact is, all this took place during Covid times with no crowds in the stadium, but ever since then they have been fucking woeful because not only are they very limited technically, they are also spineless cowards who fold like a pack of cards at the very first sign of any adversity.
Whenever we go a goal down these days you can more or less say it’s game over, it’s just totally unacceptable.

But you just know that if he’d have signed for Liverpool he’d be amazing!

Who?, not any of our current players that’s for sure. They have got far too many flaws in their games, and in their character.

How long did it take Fergie to rebuild the club and mould a team in his image? This is not going to be fixed this month or Jan or next summer. It’s going to be August 2024 before we see a real ETH team

    #2121109

@killyboye – ETH won’t get that far unless supported in this very window mate; fact is that, unless we get in 4 first teamers before the close of this window, we will not make Top Four this year. And that means that there will be no money next summer to bring in half of a first team in (which we will definitely need at the bare minimum by then) which will again mean that we fall behind at the beggining of the 2023-2024 season… and by then it will be bye bye ETH and we start again from scratch.

The only way to fix this problem is to spend 250m right now – and unfortunately the Glazers will not do that, so in reality, our season is over before it has even started.

The Glazers haven’t got 250 million mate, probably more like 250 quid. It’d just be more debt.

Eventually we’re going to have to stick or twist with regards to managers. It’s plainly evident that most of our first team, and by most I mean 80% at least, isn’t up to standard. OGS got nearly two full seasons before getting the heave ho and he was backed, when it was obvious we were going backwards. ETH needs to be given the same time and backing as OGS.

    #2121142

@jm1502 – oh definitely mate, but that doesn’t change the issue at hand: whether the Glazers have / are willing to pay 250m is up to debate, but what isn’t is that we need to spend that amount right now to make Top Four this season.

    Cheers

If we had CL football, we’d prob get away with 50m less than that but we don’t so we have to pay a premium to get good players and clubs know we’re up the creek without a paddle.

Not here to rub salt on your wounds but I would have been very keen to read what Mc Guffin with whom I had the pleasure or should I say the honour to exchange a few posts, would have posted about ‘progress’ at Manchester United.

Wow, I’ve read every post on this thread. Some sobering but accurate posts. Can’t argue with any of the bombshells being stopped by you guys re the players ability snd attitudes, so much money wasted and so much time wasted. Crazy thing is it’s game week 1 and the decline is still in progress it seems. I’d honestly love to say it’s too early and things will change and be fine but will they?

Will Harry suddenly become mobile and lead? Will Dalot turn into a decent RB that can defend? I’m not bothered about Shaw as he will be replaced soon, and too early for Martinez but he’s just too small, he looks like a kid playing. Will Martial turn into a good solid dependable winger? Will Fred be able to pass and control the ball? Will McTominey be able to defend/intercept then pass the ball for others to do their stuff? Will Fernandes stop stealing a living and stop cheating and moaning and thinking he is the centre of everything? Will Sancho do anything? I’m sorry but I think we’ve been mugged off with Sancho, Will Rashford ever again look like a footballer and be the player he could or should be? Will Van D Beek show anything that made us pay 40 million squid? Will Ronny stay the season out or just say see ya and rip up the contract?

Can’t honestly believe we all feel like this as early as this. Please tell me all this is reversible and all will go well. If not what chance does ETH actually have?

I think the short answer to all of those questions is a resounding ‘no’ mate. A decade of Ed Woodward and a raft of failed managers culminating in him allowing the clueless one to exchange the family silver for a crock of rusty old scrap at a cost of nearly half a billion quid means that our chickens have now well and truly come home to roost big time, simple as that.
