Just reading about all this bollix with that twat Raiola. The situation is just getting totally out of control now. The negativity needs to stop. That was one thing Fergie was very good at. When there were situations around the club he would just knock them on the head straight away by making a big call for the good of the club.

Pogba as a player is like a bird who is great in the sack but does your head in 24/7 otherwise. He undoubtedly is talented but the circus show around him and his inconsistent performances are doing more harm than good. Selling him to Barcelona for £160M might just be a way of reclaiming control of the club. I’d also ship out Martial and anyone else who is not happy before 31st August. Regardless of how you view them as footballers, this show cannot continue.

Someone needs to retake control of the football direction of the club before this gets so far out of control it sets us back a few years. Players like Pogba and Martial will not be at the club long term anyway. I’d take the money now and reinvest for the future. Put a proper long term vision of the squad in place and sign the right players to make it happen.

Mac – Yeah i agree with that. The top 6 is a fine line, not that many points between them at all. It’s a season long battle that normally goes down to the wire. So how does that make Liverpool “light years ahead of us”?

N1xer…what worries me is who is going to retake control of the football club…The Glazers? Woodward and his egomaniac corporate pals? Mourinho? Fergie and Bobby Charlton? The Class of 92? This Director of Football role is getting a lot of coverage and support right now but would you back anybody in a position of leadership* at the club to implement it correctly? It isn’t exactly an easy role and if this was another appointment we got wrong we’d be set back even further.

I would sell Pogba right now (and Martial) but the trouble is that Barcelona can’t afford either his transfer fee or his wages so that fat meff Raiola has a big job on his hands in trying to attract one of the two/three clubs who could.

*and I spit that word out with ironic venom

N1xer – just what I said on page 11 (if my memory serves me right). Unfortunately the intellectuals on this site who regard ‘b***ing, c**ts, f**k me’ as far more entertaining are spoiling the site for those of us who like a good discussion on the rights and wrongs of the Club. These expletive-ridden posts invariably follow a rubbish performance so I don’t see it improving in the near future.

I appeal to those who find it hard to resist using foul and abusive language to stop. Many children (the future lifeblood of our support) should not be tainted by this verbal and football rubbish.

The show certainly can’t continue and the first to go should be the manager. We’ve now had 3 generally pragmatic if not negative managers and despite what some may think, a young, progressive, positive, attack minded coach might just change the whole atmosphere around the club and more importantly, bring some decent football with him.

Why is it that Chelski can change managers almost every season and still, in general, play decent football? Seems to me we keep hiring the wrong managers.

N1xer…what worries me is who is going to retake control of the football club….Defo the class of 92 to start with, then appoint a Dof,and a manager.I believe Barcelona can afford Pogba,it would just mean they will have to sell the likes of D.Suarez,Rafinha, and Rakitic.Martial needs/has to leave ASAP.We cannot have has-beens like Mata,Valencia,Young,Sanchez costing the club millions of £££ every week.It has to stop.

Tommy.…the corporate/marketing side of the club has completely taken over at board level. On one hand, it is not a bad thing as it allows us to compete with the big boys on fees and wages without the backing of a sugar Daddy. I think even G Neville said on that podcast you linked to recently that it was the model most other clubs are attempting to replicate globally.

The problem is that there is a total lack of structure around the football side. It seems the club have taken the view that the manager should be responsible for the football side. When you burn through 3 managers in five years that approach becomes a problem. Another issue is that none of the managers have been compatible with the Utd way or the DNA of the club. The focus on manager recruitment has been on stabilising the club or a quick fix. I have no idea what the answer is but would like to see a few things happen.

I am not a big fan of a DoF as it just creates tension with the manager. I like the idea of a football operations dept at board level with a director having overall responsibility. In terms of personnel, i think we should follow the model Bayern use and have a strong base of people with links to the club. People like Nicky Butt and Gary Neville would be good shouts in my opinion to be involved. Also, all unhappy players (and managers) should be let go regardless but I think you’re right that the club is struggling to get fees for them.

Ultimately we could analyse it to death but football is about the players and manager at the end of the day. And our biggest problem is that the players that have been signed haven’t been good enough and the managers haven’t been able to get the best out of them for one reason or another. I think the current squad and set up is dead in the water and we need a new manager and players to take us forward. I wouldn’t go near Zidane. I like the idea of Pochettino but there’s no chance of getting him out of spurs.

    Saw this yesterday and thought it was quite good;

UTD Fans: Give Martial a chance, drop Sanchez.
    Jose: *Starts Martial*

UTD Fans: Make Pogba Captain he deserves it.
    Jose: *Gives Pogba Captains armband*

UTD Fans: Start Bailly & Lindelof together.
    Jose: *Starts them both*

    Brighton 3-2 Man Utd
    Utd Fans: Jose Out!!

Top post that yesterday N1xer…especially on the DoF role, which I think could go very badly wrong for us. There must be a way to get some of our illustrious past footballers involved in the running of the club rather than heading up tables in the corporate lounges for beer money.

The sooner the likes of Woodward and Arnold leave their egos behind and only focus on bringing in the spondoolies the better.

@jm1502So that’s DeGea, just, and Pogba.

Good. We’re slowly getting there :). The third is Sanchez. He is world-class player and he would likely walk into any side in Europe …

    – I know Shaw has his ups and downs, but I would pick him over Robertson any day of the week
    – Although Fabinho played as right-back in Monaco, he’s a defensive midfielder now. I would pick Matic over Fabinho and the likes of Henderson any day of the week and twice on Sunday
    – To be honest almost everyone in our team looked dud under Mourinho, but that doesn’t change the fact that Alexis Sanchez is a world class player. I would pick Sanchez over Mane any day of the week.
    – Firminho over Lukaku? Are you serious? Have you seen them in the WC. Lukaku by far.

All in all, we have a better quality squad than Liverpool. Our problem is the manager and his outdated negative tactics

However, a more pertinent question might be how Klopp would do with this crop of United players right now?

We would probably play a better brand of football and finish 4th. We’ll not win the league with Klopp. He lost 6 consecutive finals if you are not aware. If you ask how Guardiola would do with this crop of United players, my answer would have been different.

Shaw over Robertson? No thanks! Matic over Fabinho? No no.
Lukaku over Firminho? No no no!
Sanchez over Mané? Hahaha hell no.

Klopp over Mourinho then? Yes,high octane attractive football is what most of us want to see again. But i wonder how many primadonnas would cope with running their socks off,Shaw wouldnt for sure.

How many would cope with running their socks off? The same thing was said about the Liverpool and Spurs squads before Klopp and Poch. Liverpool visably ran out of steam in their first few matches under Klopp, now they’ve either adapted or been replaced.

How many? Well,Sanchez for sure,Rashford too. Not sure about Martial but Klopps high press would suit him better than Mourinho´s tactic to use him as wingbackish something. Lukaku no,thats why i choose Firminho before him.
Lingard yes,Mata certainly no. Matic no,to slow. Lingard yes, also Fred and Pogba.
