Again we just need a result tomorrow I would love a great performance but at this stage we just need another 3 points. I am really interested to see how the back four hold out tomorrow white will be targeted and it would be good to see him have a good game. The pitch will be like a cow field to stop us playing and they are desperate as they have not won yet so think it will be tough and a horrible game to watch just hope we can get a result. I think it will be the same starting 11 as last week although would not be surprised if holding is put in and we go to a back 5. They are being really careful with Partey so I don’t think he will start

That half wit Arteta will doubtless come out with similar excuses if we don’t get three points tomorrow- “they are a really tough team, this is a difficult place to come, they are very physical, the pitch was not good, the referee was not up to par”, blah, blah, blah. I have no faith that anything much will change and our players will be scared tomorrow as the “manager” has no ability to inspire confidence in his players. Burnley have not had a home win in their last 12 games, who has any belief that we can win tomorrow? How many players has that supposed great coach Arteta improved since he’s been here- i.e. in nearly two years? Leno,Gabriel, Holding, Mari, Tierney, Aubabeyang, Lacazette, Martinelli have all gone backwards and or lost confidence since the fraud came here. The owners have stupidly entrusted him with nearly £150m in the pre-season and we are still crap because Arteta has bought players “for the future”. What an imbecile, who wants a future with him at the helm?

I have put my money on Burnley mainly because they have not won at home for 12 games. With Arteta seeming dead set on breaking bad records Im sure he will help break that for Burnley as well. So 2-1 Burnley is my guess.

The only positive is that we wont see Xhaka being sent off for a third time against them.

But Steve by not starting Partey it will just be as against Norwich poor.

It will be a tight game I think but we should have enough to win. Burnley haven’t looked great so far either and I expect a bit of a dire match but a couple of late goals will seal the win. Aubameyang to score again.

No doubt some people will come and say important result but Performance – Not good enough. We should be expected to dominate Burnley but we didn’t.Most of their game was played inside our own half.I can blame Arteta but what’s the point?I genuinely don’t think it’s the manager.I fear for this team,I really do.It’s so sub- Par.No manager in this world can do a good job with this squad. You cherry pick the 3 best managers in the world right now and tell them to come and manage this club and they’d be lucky to finish 5th.

Ben White and Tomiyasu,so unimpressed with them.Money down the drain.I expected Ben White to be aggressive but he looks like a player that thinks he’s better than he actually is.Tomi,Not the right back we needed. Can’t overlap. Can’t attack. No support for Pepe.Seems like a Chambers clone.
We basically spent 67m on two defenders both of whom can only seem to play in a back 3.All comes down to recruitment and we absolutely bottled it in that department.

Ramsdale,Odegaard and Gabriel delivered monster performance with the rest being absolute crap.I’d have given the MOTD To Ode if Ramsdale didn’t bail out Ben White. He made some good saves and was a strong presence in the box although I still feel we absolutely get bullied and overcrowded on set pieces and next time we can’t be so complacent.

I worry for our defence.Gabriel is our best defender by a country mile.Tierney our best full back. The rest?Absolute championship quality.
The only reason we kept 2 clean sheets is because we played bottle of the table Norwich and Burnley who haven’t won at home since a long time not to mention picked up just a point until today.

A wins a win! I’d rather win next 33 games 1-0 than play fancy football and lose. This team is young bar auba. We started 2 hale end boys and 1 came on. We got a whole new set of players they don’t and won’t click over night. Get behind and support the team you all claim you love.
These young players need that support.

3 losses with 3rd and 4th choice players playing 2 of those games against euro and league champs, 2 best teams in the league! 2 games with what is almost full strength, new faces integrating, very young squad and 2 wins!
Burnley are a very physical side, that battle for everything, they put immense pressure with cross after cross. Away from home we dug in, and we delivered the win. Is that not more important than not picking…

I encourage all to read the Le grove piece on arteta and what we are aiming to do.

WHAT IS ARTETA DOING? (LONG READ)

I was excited by the line up but it didn’t quite click. That said, another win and another clean sheet – I’ll certainly take it! I thought Gabriel was very good and Ramsdale looks solid.

1 nil to the Arsenal! Shifty will no doubt be overjoyed at such a performance- just like the good old days.

Moppy, I’m always overjoyed when we win. Not an easy game and a hard fought win but it’s the win that counts. Would sooner have seen Lokonga or AMN alongside Party at the start. Front players did not inspire but we defended fairly well. It seems Ramsdale has taken over No 1 spot in no time at all. Now which regular contributor claimed he was useless when we signed him? Ah yes, Statto Boy.

Andy – And can you please change your name to The Blind Supporter just for shits and giggles?I haven’t even used any stats for this game.I don’t need to prove that most of the game was played in our half against a side that reminds me of Stoke City in the PL.

Support the Hale end boys?Dear oh dear.Your post sums up your standards and expectations for the club which is pretty darn low.
Gave ESR the no 10 shirt and he has zero goals and assists in 4 games.Have nothing against him,I quite like him but I call it like I see it and any supporters that dosen’t have blinkers on will tell you he’s not ready to be a starter.

“A wins a win! I’d rather win next 33 games 1-0 than play fancy football and lose”

Let me give you a lesson Andy.Anyone who’s played/watched the game long enough knows that performances eventually catch up with results. It is impossible you can play poorly all season and you end up winning every game in the league. That’s why for me,Performances are the most important factor in judging the team. Not results.

Look at spuds, they might have won the first three games but they performed poorly in all three.Their chance creation was 15th in the league. They lost the next game and drew the one after. The didn’t end up winning those games 1-0 did they.

Also,I don’t know what you have against statistics. At no point did I say they are the be all.But they way you and some others ignore them proves to me your knowledge of the game. You do realise our own club has actually financially invested in metrics and technology that measure statistics to realise if the club’s going in the right direction. What about the Brentford owner?Have you read his story. He’s used Pure statistics to get their team to the PL.I suggest you go and read it.I’d post a link if I didn’t believe you’d be blatantly ignorant even after reading their Journey.

Andy – interesting read. It’s not just fans that need patience though, players too need to believe in the project or it won’t work and my worry is the players patience is wearing thin – there’s only so many that can be replaced with our budget.

TSO – lighten up – clearly a joke, how about The Statto One?

Andy No offence but we have played 2 relegation sides with our A lineup and just scraped through both. You just did what I expected though brought out a new sorry excuse to hide the fact that we as a club is in sorry state.

After the first three it was ” we were missing key players” it will be better.. now ” its a young squad and they have not gelled ”

Yes they need our support but it wont change much and fans making up excuses wont help either it just justifies the looser mentality at the club.

I like that we won though but even you must admit thats the only positive from these two games. Its nothing fun or exiting about watching us play.

Mop – I’ve read that piece too last week.In a nutshell, it asks for Patience from the fans.In 2014,we were promised we’d be challenging for titles around this time.Today,we’re in a position where we’re outside of Europe. We couldn’t even make the Conference league(Not that I want to but just goes to show how far we’ve fallen).
So I think Patience is the last thing we need to hear right now, we’ve shown enough of it.
We’ve just gone onto spend 150m in the market, been given the Highest spenders in Europe tag.I’m sorry but regardless of how poor your squad was prior to that,When You spend that much,You expect to atleast finish 4TH OR 5TH in the league.I guarantee you we won’t.This plead for patience is just an excuse to buy time.
We’ve just gone onto spend all that 150m on 22 and 23 year olds.Of which,I’m certain we’ve overpaid for all of them.I have nothing against the players really, simply put they’re not the right profile of players we needed.

Muffler is right,It speaks volumes about the loser mentality. You can point the blame in many directions(I personally back the Arteta the coach and not Arteta the manager).Having said that,I think someone has to pay for this conundrum in the market.Ideally,I’d want Kronkes out but I’d settle for Edu’s resignation. However, the fact that he’s still at the club proves Kronke’s Couldn’t spell Football to start with. Why would they,Most certainly call it Soccer.

TSO I agree we’ve been asked for patience a lot and it’s something rarely afforded these days in football. However, if you back Arteta the coach, clearly with his tactical philosophy, as outlined in the blog, you are going to need to patient and give it time work? Unless, of course you disagree with his philosophy, in which case surely he along with Edu would need to go?

I myself am yet to be wholly convinced it will work, largely because I think if things don’t go well at first, keeping the players motivated to learn is extremely difficult. I am though willing to see if progress is made by the end of the season and obviously I hope it does work!

Look resultwise Im happy but playing wise come on If you are standing still any team you face is going to be difficult. Yesterday was just another example of that how many times did we watch White just stand with the ball at his feet. How many times did the players take so many touches and then pass the ball to a marked player and immediately put him in trouble. How many times did we loose the ball after 2-3 passes. The answer on that is countless.

Is this the tactic? Are they scared to loose the ball? Are they scared to do anything wrong? I honestly dont know but its not about fans because it looked like this with zero fans in the stadium.

The money spent so far looks like a waste. Lets see how they fair against Spurs. They usually play with tempo something we cannot handle.

The Spurs match might be what we need they are playing crap and stole their victories so far
If this doesn’t galvanise the team and local lads nothing will
It’s all about results at the minute and just hope the confidence that comes with it slowly breeds a better style of play

Interesting article in yesterday’s Telegraph where it reckons the average height of Arsenal’s back4 is the tallest Arsenal back line in PL history. Tomiyasu 6’2”; White 6’2”; Gabriel 6’3”; Tierney 5’10”. Surprising but useful when playing Rugby teams like Burnley. Put a reliable keeper behind them and decent cover in front and our defence should be a lot more solid than it has been. Our problem is lack of cover in front. Partey can’t be expected to do the job on his own, I would have played AMN or Lokonga yesterday and left the ineffective Pepe out. Abameyang continues to disappoint and our build up is still slow and ponderous which explains our lack of goals. What I hope doesn’t happen is that Arteta brings back Xhaka the donkey. Next week is a big test, a win would make such a difference. This is now pretty much Arteta’s team, Wengers dross apart from Xhaka can no longer me blamed, I expect Lacazette to leave in Jan and maybe a striker will be our next big buy. Look at for Charlie Patino, the next brilliant Hale End boy to play in the first team. Thank God we have so many talented home grown lads.
