pogba this season as a cm- most chances created, most dribbles, most duels won and most passes. Last season our midfield would have been bullied by Barton and co. As Owen Hargreaves put it pogba does everything tackling, passing, goals, assists. There isn’t a central midfielder like him in europe and he is only going to get better.
@manthistle as always we could rely on your stupid comparisons, rooney created most chances in one game compared to pogba in whole season. If you can’t see that our play comes through pogba then you really need to wake up. He is the only guy who makes the biggest difference to our side. Your obsession to negatively label pogba continues when stats which you enjoy bringing up prove otherwise.
I read one of your posts the other saying whether alaba and few others were good because they have top players around them. The same arguement was used to describe carrick and rooney. They were good when ronaldo, scholes and co were around them but since then they both have been found out.
As for zlatan he has been poor 2nd half of season he should have been rotated better. The difference is that rooney has been poor for 5 years now and yday just showed how far the guy has fallen, all he did was argue with the ref for not being able to control the ball. Zlatan’s goals have made a difference to us but he will probably be gone at the end of the season so we won’t need to put up with his inactive play. If rooney went five years ago not many of us would have been as critical.
April 24, 2017 at 1:09 pm #1469064I agree about Mbappe and Verratti N1xer, not going to happen. But I think the choices would be Fabinho or Bakayoko as the holding (I’d have either) and Silva or Lemar as a creative but that also runs with the ball so winger as well (I’d have either). All four are very very good. I wasn’t sure about Bakayoko but have now seen enough to convince me he’d be a beast next to Pogba. Like the CB Jemmerson as well. But you’re right, Juve will be a test.
April 24, 2017 at 1:10 pm #1469065Well said fatrooney.
April 24, 2017 at 1:28 pm #1469082At this stage i’m more worried about who we sign in the summer than CL football next year. What’s the point in even being in the CL if you are going to struggle! As things stand, we’d be cannon fodder for the big teams in Europe. We’re struggling to even beat second or third rate teams like Anderlecht in the EL. We really need to get this transfer window right!
Also, agree with Mourinho’s post match comments about prioritising the EL over top 4. It goes without saying we need a performance on Thursday in the derby but when you look at what we have left after that game (Spurs and Arsenal away, Southampton away and Place at home), top 4 is going to be a real struggle and will take too much out of the players. The 3 potential games we have left in the EL are easier than our PL run in. Anyway, if we did finish top 4 and win the EL, we’d only be giving a place in the CL to City or Liverpool. So whats the point?
After Thursday, we should be focusing on winning the EL. If needs be, certain players should be getting a rest and others like Fosu-Mensah and Tuanzebe a game to see what they are all about for next year!
April 24, 2017 at 1:29 pm #1469084I absolutely love watching B.Silva play.Reminds me of a young D.Silva at his best, but another player who is going to set the transfer window alight i reckon!.Would sacrifice Mata,Lingard,Young,Rooney, without any hesitation to get that lad.
April 24, 2017 at 1:30 pm #1469085Fabinho is a right back chaps,is he not??.
April 24, 2017 at 1:32 pm #1469087fatrooney – Excellent post mate but unfortunately it will not be endorsed by ‘posters’ who unashamedly have it ‘in’ for a particular player.
April 24, 2017 at 2:40 pm #1469156emmicallef – I don’t have it in for any player apart from Fellaini. Yesterday Rooney created the most chances in the match for a Utd player, 2 more than Pogba. Now, I’ve been told that creating chances is the mark of a good player by posters on here, notably in defence of Pogba when many question whether or not he’s had a good season. So I’m a bit confused as to why Rooney was given a hard time on here during and after the match given his contribution to the team. Does it not strike you as a tad odd? He also had the most shots, most shots on target and the most goals.
It’s debatable whether or not Zlatan is an asset or a liability given how little he offers the team apart from his goals (as daft as that sounds) but many on here deem that acceptable. Not ideal, but acceptable. Now when it comes to Rooney it seems that it is totally unacceptable to score a goal but contribute very little else. Again, where is the consistency?
I would argue that it is other posters who have it in for certain players and not me.
April 24, 2017 at 2:47 pm #1469163Right back originally but has been playing as a holding midfielder for Monaco all season and to good effect.
April 24, 2017 at 2:49 pm #1469166Why my man Marouane Manny? He’s an oaf but no worse than several others.
April 24, 2017 at 2:53 pm #1469169And Manny, Rooney was hammered because he was fucking shite man. He moves like a 60 year old now, in fact no, I’m quicker than him. Why are you constantly referring to stats and ignoring what’s staring you in the face? A blind man could see that he’s become a fat, useless oaf. Sad if he wasn’t being paid do much.
April 24, 2017 at 3:34 pm #1469196Manthistle-Rooney plays once every 6 months mate,Ibra plays every single game,Rooney is 31 yrs old,Ibra is 35.We should try and win the EL and @ the end of the season let both of them go.Both should be let go come the end of the season,!.
April 24, 2017 at 3:35 pm #1469197jm1502 – If you had said in the past that “Zlatan was hammered because he was fucking shite man. He moves like a 60 year old now, in fact no, I’m quicker than him” then I wouldn’t mention Rooney.
April 24, 2017 at 3:39 pm #1469200Manthistle – Do not recall typing your name in my post my friend.
As for your remarks re Rooney,it is acceptable to me that what is good for the goose should be good for the gander, but the fulcrum of remarks against Wayne has always been for his uncontrollable spiral way way down from the talents he portrayed up until circa 2012.
Just for curiosity, were you here when a poster by the name of Lloyd was on the old teamtalk ?
April 24, 2017 at 4:05 pm #1469212emmicallef – No, always been Manthistle. Didn’t use to post on the old Utd pages. Traffic was sufficient enough on the general pages back then to keep me occupied.
April 24, 2017 at 4:12 pm #1469215@manthistle you say rooney had most shots and shots on target so should be left alone. Did you even see how pathetic and weak his attempts were? When he does it consistently throughout the season then he will be left alone. Yet more evidence that you are more concerned about stats and fail to watch the game.
Compare rooney to other wide players not pogba. If you want to compare someone to pogba then make sure it’s a central midfielder. Get me another central midfielder in europe who has contributed as much as pogba to his team. I mean all round contribution, passing chances created, tackles, duel won etc. Even the ‘beast’ dembele doesn’t come close.
@redblood bernado silva is amazing to watch. The good thing about him is tha he can run with the ball to go with his trickery. It’s either griezeman or silva for me
April 24, 2017 at 4:27 pm #1469221Been linked with A.Silva of Porto and A.Morata of Real Madrid left, right and centre. Both combined cheaper than Lukaku.Does this means Rooney and Ibra are off!!.
April 24, 2017 at 4:28 pm #1469222Zlatan does move like an old man Manny and he’s had plenty of stick on here, but he’s scored goals mate and plenty of crucial ones at that.
April 24, 2017 at 4:39 pm #1469226@Ika Completely agree RE Hererra. He has been hammered on here throughout the season but he has been by far our most consistent performer. Yes he plays a lot of sideways passes and yes at times slows our movements down, but honestly if we look at who has been dominating our forward line then it doesn’t seem as bad as people have been claiming he is.
Against Chelsea and Burnley he always kept us on the front foot, was quick with his break up play and counter attack initiating, all because we have had a lot of movement up top then usual. He has complemented Pogba quite well and they can and will get even better as soon as we get a top class DMF in the mould of Veratti/Bakayoko/Frank Kessie/ Fabinho….April 24, 2017 at 9:05 pm #1469298But he wouldn’t get in a top side O.T
