Arsenal have been living in the shadow of Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City for too long. Unfortunate, but it is true. It’s now 11 years since they lifted the league title and they’ve only two FA Cup trophies to show for their efforts since then. It’s not really enough.
Arsenal always deliver at some point over the course of the season to a level that suggests they are good enough to win the Premier League title. But at the end they settle for their usual position of top four hoggers, though we might sometimes see them rise above their customary fourth placed slot. But realistically, what difference apart from the formality of a Champions League qualifier and an extra couple of million will it make?
We’ll have to wait and see what they do this season, but the excuses are running out.
November 27, 2015 at 8:33 pm #718229Of course! We have as much chance of winning it as any other challenger. There’s no reason to suspect otherwise. Arsenal are the best team in the land and would cruise to the title if not for the usual reasons; absurdly unfortunate injury lists, atrociously biased refereeing against us, or just downright bad luck…
November 27, 2015 at 9:09 pm #718242More chance than us; we have a greater negativity ratio to put up with; day-to-day.
Nobody’s jolly.
“Oh, but if everybody patted each other on the back”
Jesus,
What would God’s season of goodwill be?
November 27, 2015 at 9:18 pm #718245Arsenal,Liverpool,Spurs,United,anyone of them can, while City are the clear favourites.
November 27, 2015 at 9:29 pm #718247Not Liverpool, and I’m ruddy Mr Positive.
November 27, 2015 at 9:43 pm #718253Nil-keep positive mate, the way things are going, anything its possible.
November 27, 2015 at 9:55 pm #718258Redblood, appreciated mate, greatly, but aside from the day-to-day gloom I have to put up with (some might argue in being justified), I know realistically at this moment in time, we sincerely have a fair bit to go before even considering 5th spot.
I love the game mate as a neutral because of the nice healthy competition, and no more Man U dominance (if I may mate), but football’s changed and it’s a lot harder and FFP whatever that of that lark doesn’t connect when it comes to being on the pitch and grafting.
Man U stand a much better chance in winning the league, even though some out there might object!
Cheers

Will they?
Unlikely, the usual list of injuries are already beginning to derail their season and even if they hit the home straight with a chance of winning it I question whether they have the mentality to bring it home.
However Arsenal were well set up to win it in the summer had Wenger spent some money and made the right signings but sadly for the Arsenal fans he sat on his hands and I have my doubts that under Wenger Arsenal will ever win it again.
November 28, 2015 at 7:59 am #718310I’d love for us to win it that’s for sure, but it depends on 1 major factor, that is if we can keep our key players fit. We’re looking to have Wilshere and Walcott back anytime soon, glad that Ramsey and Chamberlain is back but Coquelin’s injury hits us hard, therefore Arsene needs to bring in a proper cover for the defensive midfield position. I believe we also need at least another centre back and a central midfielder because we certainly can’t rely on Arteta or Rosicky no more.
November 28, 2015 at 10:02 am #718336Chelsea were my favourite before the season started, but the calamity that’s unfolding at Stamford Bridge derailed Chelsea’s chance this season.
There’s 25 more matches to go and European football also will cause a lot of exhaustion and anything could happen, but I can not see Arsenal winning the league. It’s not just a physical thing with Arsenal, it’s a mental thing and that even could be more important. The way Liverpool and Spurs are playing at the moment, I actually think Arsenal are very likely to vacate the top 4 this season!
November 28, 2015 at 10:39 am #718348Whilst Wenger is a fabulous coach who should be credited for maintaining such a lovely and devastating football philosophy for over a decade now, I do think he lacks something in being able to win over and galvanize a dressing room the way great managers do. This is why i think we see the silly points dropped time and time again. Arsene just seems to live in his ideal world and seems to sometimes expect things to take care of themselves. As for not spending money, only he can answer that, but I suspect again he’s maybe blinkered by his ideal thinking in that what he’s got and the way he plays will always be good enough, and he therefore perhaps doesn’t justify spending more money than he wants to.
November 29, 2015 at 6:14 pm #719280Arsenals season is imploding. Right on schedule. As I said, Arsenal are the team to lose out on top 4 to Liverpool
November 29, 2015 at 6:43 pm #719297Can I just offer the “bloody hope note” opinion? 🙂
November 29, 2015 at 6:47 pm #719304Why was that BBC Journalist asking a dumbfounded question: “how will you cope”
How the hell do you think Arsene will cope?
Give the man a break please for goodness sake instead of finding ways to lay in to him.
Injuries aren’t his fault!!!!!
November 29, 2015 at 6:57 pm #719308Arsenal collected only two PL points in November after picking up 12 in October. Spurs and Liverpool are right in the running for top 4 and I’ afraid it will be Arsenal to vacate that 4 place
November 29, 2015 at 8:24 pm #719369It’s all so déjà vu nobody bought in the summer, bags of injuries and a terrible November.
November 29, 2015 at 8:29 pm #719373You just like to start a debate to provoke comments on here don’t you.Everyone knows on here City will run away with the title.Arsenal even if we take the lead we know we will bottle it sometime later.Man united?Don’t even get me started, the worst advertisement for the PL.How are you even bearing to watch this current side, watching paint dry would be more entertaining.
November 29, 2015 at 8:46 pm #719385“Everyone knows on here City will run away with the title” my ar*e.. Have you watched them trashed by Spurs and Liverpool? Have you watched them struggling to beat a team that was in the championship last season – Norwich AT HOME? Have you watched them struggling to beat the worst team in the league – Aston Villa?
I agree though, City are favourites.
What about my suggestion Arsenal are likely to vacate the top 4 position? Only the “experienced” Arsene Wenger never knew that prolonged use of a tired Sanchez will result in his injury! We all saw it coming… Alexis Sanchez needed a rest. Why did he finish the Zagreb game? At 3-0 he could’ve been rested. Poor player management! Now instead of losing him at least for 30min each game you ain’t gonna have him 4-8weeks!
November 29, 2015 at 9:07 pm #719398The reality is however despite a very poor November and a bucket load of injuries Arsenal are still only 2 points off of top spot so they are still very much in the title race.
But I would be furious if I was a Gooner that Wenger failed to invest in the squad this summer had he done so I suspect that there would have been daylight between Arsenal and the rest at the top of the PL now.
