Carabo Cup draw has been kind to us and given us Liverpool away.

EL draw lunchtime tomorrow live on BT we’re in Pot 1.

Nine very very tough cause now the opportunity of playing younger players is blown away and also probability of more Carabo games. City or Liverpool away were the only teams did not want us to draw.

It depends on how both teams want to approach this game as it is the midweek before Liverpool visit the Bridge which clearly is far more important for both teams

I still see no reason why Klopp will not field his kids as he has done in previous years. Equally I would have expected Sarri to take the opportunity to rest some of our players especially those not used to the pace of the EPL with such a big game looming

Could easily see Christensen, Zappa, Ampadu and Emerson at the back with Fabregas, Barkley and RLC in the middle with Hudson Odoi and either Giroud or Tammy up front. Obviously a couple of other places to fill but not too shabby a side by any stretch of the imagination and with a couple of the first team on the bench if we wanted/needed them we would clearly have a chance…? Agree with Blaze it’s a tough draw and if we go out early it will be a shame as it’s a competition that gives us an opportunity to give the young players a run.

Agree it would be a shame to go out as so many of those players I mentioned will be looking for good game time and to go out at the first hurdle would be disappointing. However, great incentive for them and to impress Sarri…? KTBFFH

Looking at Liverpool’s CL Group i 100% expect them to field all their reserve team for our League Cup game.

    GROUP L
    Chelsea (ENG)
    PAOK (GRE)
    BATE (BLR)
    Vidi (HUN)

Would expect to qualify playing mostly fringe players. Pretty good draw.

The draw of the enemy pretty reasonable for them too

    GROUP E
    Arsenal (ENG)
    Sporting CP (POR)
    Qarabağ (AZE)
    Vorskla (UKR)

If both Liverpool and Chelsea field shadow sides for their League Cup game it will be to our advantage imo because squad wise I think Chelsea are stronger than Liverpool.

Meanwhile in the Europa League draw

Arsenal draw Sporting, Qarabag and FC Vorskla
Chelsea get PAOK, BATE Borisov and Vidi FC
For Celtic, it’s Red Bull Salzburg, RB Leipzig and Rosenborg
And Rangers will face Villarreal, Rapid Vienna and Spartak Moscow

Decent draw for both Arsenal and Chelsea and a more difficult draw for both Celtic and Rangers. Lots totally good opportunities for our young players and squad players with these games.
