Morning chaps,I think it’s safe to say that after the total shambles at Arsenal and the general pathetic nature of our performances and especially away results since LVG took charge that this next run of games is going to be massive, especially for LVG and the woeful Wayne Rooney.I think most of us (except Roberto Martinez and Everton’s centre backs!) would drop Rooney now, especially for the game at Goodison which has always been a graveyard ground for him, even when he was any good all those years ago.Question is,will LVG finally bite the bullet and ditch this ridiculous ‘untouchable’ status that Rooney has been given despite him continually playing like a fan who has been plucked from the stands to play with both his boots on the wrong feet?.Somehow I doubt he will, which means that if Rooney continues to stink the place out then the pressure and criticism from the fans and the press will be absolutely deafening. The frightening thing for me now is that despite LVG having had 18 months and a warchest of cash to spend, most pundits (and myself) would say that Everton have at least as many players who would walk into our team as we have that would do the same for theirs and that is just not on I’m afraid and I don’t mean any disrespect to Everton in saying that, their overall budget is probably a maximum 20% of ours!.

Cumon now blacky; the only players who would have a shout at getting into the United side are Lukaku, and Coleman (because of Shaw’s injury). Maybe Deulofeu and Stones. Give us some credit mate.

In any case you are right. The period from now to January will be pivotal for LvG and Rooney’s United careers. The microscope will be out – that’s for sure.

I’d take Barkley and Stones.LVG needs to go before there is another high profile sacking and there are no decent options left. I hoped he would win something during his time but I am not enjoying the football we are playing at the moment. The board should tell him to win in style or there’s the door.

@scholesy. I said it before – LvG is not endearing and the results and performances will be the only thing to speak for him. Personally, I want him to see out his contract – his football style is more deliberate but when it comes together it’s really impressive. I respect the job he has done so far – I have seen steady progress thus far but we do need to go up a notch over the next few months. I think I am in the minority in my support for LvG – most fans want him out because they want more fireworks.

As for Barkley – I am really unsure if he is that good. To me he looks flashy and busy with no real consistent threat – he makes bad decisions with his final ball as well. Very explosive player though.

@fergiesarmy. I have watched Stones mate. He is a good prospect but I wouldn’t say he’s better than Smalling, Blind, and Rojo right now.

He has good potential and when he becomes available we shouldn’t let him go to Chelsea without a fight.

Have you seen Smalling and Blind mate??

Hatters please don’t become the new Happy Hurling, you are far better than that mate!.So we agree on Coleman and Lukaku, incidentally Shaw is a left back not a right back so his injury is irrelevant here really, otherwise you could easily take Baines as well.Based on what I have seen of Schneiderlin so far I would take McCarthy over him and if you don’t think Jagielka and Stones would get a CB gig at OT ahead of Jones,Blind or Rojo then you amaze me.Then there is Barkley who is far more of a threat at number 10 than a certain ahem,’Captain,Leader and Legend’,plus would you not admit that Delefou or even Miralas would have a shout rather than Memphis Depay?.Christ, thinking about it more I was being kind to our mob because the more you analyse it the more open to debate it is.So sorry,my original point about the respective players from both teams is completely valid, especially when you consider that Everton will not have one single player on 100K per week whereas the average weekly wage at OT will be far in excess of that figure!.
PS I think most fans want LVG out because the brand of football is pathetic and he has done every bit of a crap job as Moyes did other than shifting out 75% of the deadwood, his win % stats are almost identical and he has had a fortune to spend as well, simple as that.

@blacky. We need someone to step in for Happy mate! Haha

On a serious note, Coleman comes in to replace Darmian who now appears to be our LB. The others I just do not agree with you on mate.

Your disposition is always leaning towards the negative though mate. You are wearing “anti-red-tinted glasses”.

We have played 12 games this season – winning 8, drawing 1 and losing 3. You look at the table and we are fine while we are still in all possible cup competitions.

This is not done with rubbish players mate. Give them some time Blacky – this squad has the talent and is here to stay. If anyone is to be questioned it’s the gaffer.

Problem is mate, you kept promising me things would get better 12 months ago and despite another big summer spend I’m not seeing any green shoots of recovery with this guy or the players he has brought in,quite the opposite in fact. You were also convinced in pre season that Rooney would score 25 ‘tap in’s’ this season and your assertion that John Stones isn’t better than Blind or Rojo, well that is just a step too far even for good old Happy himself!.Lets’ look at the league table after the Palace match and judge how well we’re doing then shall we?!.

John Stones is overhyped. He has lapses of concentration, normal for a young player. He has the potential to be world class and we should buy him if we can. This does not, however, mean that he is better than our CB’s currently.

I admit I have been singing a similar tune for a while but I am a lot more patient than you, the trajectory of the teams performances and results is still upward.

At least give us some credit for the signings mate. Martial, Depay, Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, and of course, the best buy in the EPL after Andre Ayee this season: Matteo Darmian.

This is a very, very good squad here in a very good age range. Now is when we will truly be tested with a tough EPL run and the Champions League to deal with.

You are right, we are not at the highest level and are iffy. We will see if you swallow your words about the team and hopefully about LvG.

And on Rooney blacky. I put my hands up – you were right. There is no way he is reaching 25 EPL goals for us – maybe in all comps he can do it.

my favorite player declining is sad. I remember watching it happen to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – painful to witness.

Guess we can expect Jose to take your word for it and bid 35M for Jones,Blind or Rojo in January then eh mate?.Seriously, you too have to be honest about the new signings,Darmian had a great first month but has been god awful since then and has been ‘hooked’ twice at HT recently so badly was he playing!.Schneiderlin has been bang average and has looked off the pace so far,he can’t even displace the completely knackered Carrick from the team,Depay is better known for his attitude and outfits rather than his football,Bastian still has class but as we always suspected his legs are all but gone so he needs a powerhouse alongside him.The only one that has met or exceeded expectations has been Martial, imagine if we hadn’t lost at Swansea the weekend before deadline day and Rooney hadn’t been so god awful in every game up to that point (and since!),the chances are we wouldn’t have thrown so much money at signing him so late in the window -then we would really be up shit creek without a paddle!.
PS Even if you count goals scored in training or in his back garden with his kids as well mate I doubt very much Rooney will score 25 this season!.

“God awful” – this is a perfect example of your “anti-red-tinted glasses”. Strong wording for these poor chaps who are still adjusting. Darmian was just named in the Euro Qualifiers dream team by the way – he’s a damn fine player and will bed down really well.

Cheers though mate – we don’t agree on just about anything but the players we have will produce in the longrun.

You have to at least say that it’s good not to discuss the dross we were talking about a couple years back – the Fletchers (illness considered), Andersons, Nanis, Cleverleys, Welbecks etc of this world.

Praise the football gods we got shot of Evans as well. Van Gaal has the rest of the season to make it work, failing which I am sure we will get in a manager who will release the shackles from our players who are currently in a military camp.

The upcoming games are no more important than any other games. Rooney is safe due his captaincy and there being no competition for his place. The only hope is he is substituted and come summer we bring in players to challenge for his position.

LvG is safe because we are certain to be in the top4 or thereabouts. LvG has been cunning getting his excuses in from day 1 saying its a 3 year process so people should be patient. He buys time and buys players.

And in terms of career its same for both of them. They are going downhill fast and its just a case of how long can they cling on.

But when someone gets the hook at half time in favour of a joker like Antonio Valencia in consecutive away games at St Mary’s and the Emirates and I say he was “god awful” it’s not “anti red tinted glasses” at all,it’s a summation of his performances in those matches mate.I could also have mentioned how bad he was at PSV where he was at fault for both their goals as well.Fact is,he has failed the biggest tests he has had so far with us,especially away from OT and the jury must still be very much out on him although I am by no means writing him off.

Mac,after the Arsenal shambles and looking at the next 4 games we could easily be looking at 5 defeats on the trot by the time we get to November.Should that happen, and it could easily do so I reckon that neither will be “safe” for too long afterwards!.
    PS Welcome back!.

Blacky – I doubt we are looking at home defeats against wba and boro. Even if we slump to 7th l;vg will have already primed the board for poor results with his “its a process” excuse. Rooney and lvg are safe till summer. If no top4 then lvg gets the chop and Rooney will be competing against a top striker so its backup role for him.

Rite now, Stones, Baines, Barkley, Mirallas and Lukaku would get in for the following:
Blind, Rojo, Schwein, Depay and Roo.

Coleman for Darmian and Barry for Carrick would not weaken us either.

    LVG has cemented our MEDIOCRITY.
