Underrated. Undervalued. Unappreciated.
January 21, 2018 at 2:21 am #1586240Oh lord
January 21, 2018 at 2:45 am #1586242Hah, been on the gin again Michael?
January 21, 2018 at 8:47 am #1586263Haha get the violins out!.I wish someone would undervalue me to the tune of a near 100k per week!.My heart bleeds for the poor lad.
January 21, 2018 at 11:17 am #1586308His best performance for about five years came yesterday in the away end.
January 21, 2018 at 12:19 pm #1586328Brilliant player, integral between 2006-2011, before his legs slowly started going. Carrick rejuvenated Paul Scholes, he was a brilliant foil for him, they worked well togeather. Wish him luck in his new role.
January 21, 2018 at 1:02 pm #1586341Nice bloke, incredibly overrated player, and much of the responsibility for that has to go to Fergie who did a great PR job for him and, at the same time, used him as an excuse to avoid buying the midfielder we so badly needed. He was as slow as fuck before his legs went, not a great tackler, won very few headers, not a great goal scorer, didn’t have the ability to beat a man and his favourite pass was invariably sideways or backwards. All the best!
January 21, 2018 at 1:51 pm #1586349Agree on everything jm1502. Seems to me he is a nice bloke, not his fault people bigging up his value as a player. Hope he can learn players like lingard,Pogba to behave but i doubt it.
So with Carrick gone the bedwetters holy triumvirate of Rooney-Carrick-Mata have imploded. Been waiting for this so long and hopefully the Spanish Santa-Claus can disappear quickly back to Spain. All three together have played several hundred games too many, holding up positions and other players way to the first team.
January 21, 2018 at 2:07 pm #1586356The club’s failure to replace Carrick earlier and the continued contract extension offers are not his fault. Some of you should show a bit more respect to a player who was integral to perhaps SAFs greatest ever team where he formed a two in central midfield alongside Scholes, winning every possible trophy besides the League Cup.
Sometimes I wonder if “fans” on this page have any memory that spans beyond 2 weeks and if they have any sense of respect for how difficult it is to be a professional footballer who wins trophies.
I think Carrick will be a great addition to the coaching staff. He should have been replaced maybe 5 years ago but of course there was “no value” in the market at the time.
January 21, 2018 at 2:36 pm #1586368Nothing personal hatters, just never rated him mate. Might make a decent coach but I doubt he has either the charisma or knowledge to impart to be honest. As for respect, behave man, it’s a basic football forum with people exchanging views, not fucking Twitter.
January 21, 2018 at 3:03 pm #1586379It was quite clear after the final in rome that to match barca we had to replace carrick fletcher giggs scholes and anderson. We went from being the second best team in europe to one that couldn’t even qualify or being eliminated at first stage very quickly. No player apart from de gea should be given praise since fergie left. Five years of below average performances for the nice guy along with mamy others is the reason we have fallen. Since ronaldo stop bailing us out a lit of our players have been found out including carrick
January 21, 2018 at 3:16 pm #1586383@jm1502. By your logic, Manchester United won 5 Premier League titles in spite of him being a key midfielder.
Fair enough then mate.
January 21, 2018 at 3:24 pm #1586385@fatrooney. Do you have zero completentary words for Carrick?
As I said, we can all bang on about the failures of the club for forever and a day in all the other threads. This is a thread clearly designed for the appreciation of Carrick now that he is retiring.
I just think the whole message is lost when all of the “Manchester United should do better” posts start getting too prevalent on a thread which is not created for that. Perhaps show some respect, admiration, and appreciation for the player or say nothing.
January 21, 2018 at 3:34 pm #1586390Hatters- Unless a player is doing stepovers and fancy flicks, some people will struggle to take to them.
January 21, 2018 at 3:49 pm #1586396That’s exactly right hatters. We won titles when Fletcher was a regular, but that doesn’t mean he was good mate. Anyway, I’m not sure why people get so upset about it, it’s only opinion ffs. Nothing to do with fancy flicks either. He did most things competently but nothing exceptionally, simple as that.
January 21, 2018 at 4:03 pm #1586401Like @hatters said it,Carrick should have been replaced a few years ago and not his fault for that.Has contributed a great deal to United being a very successful club under SAF!
Wishing him all the best with his life, especially with his health.January 21, 2018 at 4:06 pm #1586402It was not players fault that they were not replaced @ the proper time,i.e.Scholes,Giggs,Carrick,Fletcher!
January 21, 2018 at 4:13 pm #1586407My point is that the guy wasn’t great when he was at his peak redblood, never mind when he was past it mate. And hatters, I didn’t detect from the title of the thread, that only pro Carrick posts were allowed.
January 21, 2018 at 4:17 pm #1586411Hatters – Honestly mate there’s no point! Why are you trying to explain to Zico et al how good Carrick was? You’d have more luck hammering shite to a wall!
