Well that was a complete fuck up. Bad enough to get Barca but then having to play at home first despite being drawn out second, because City are playing away first, is a monumental fucking injustice. Still, to be honest, I don’t think it matters a fuck where we play them.

Worst possible draw that for me. Still don’t talk to half her family after the games years ago. There’s not many worse than the swing when your winning sanctimonious pricks that follow Barca. I’ll need to keep my head down or i’ll get myself in trouble for sure this time. The scousers in the semis as well just to make things better

Can’t wait until we beat them. Then we’ll find they are washed up!

Just got to go for it and play for the 180 mins.

Not really, although it doesn’t bother me. If we can’t beat them now why do you think we would be them (or whoever beat them) in the final.

My preference would be to avoid English teams, have Barca in the final and get revenge, and in this round Juventus.

Did we play Chelsea and Arsenal in the CL this season? I know you’d rather the CL be like our last FA cup success, Sheffield United->Derby-> Shrewbury -> West Ham -> Everton -> Palace

You’re missing the point MAC. Tough draws in the fa cup and CL that’s the short and long of it!

Also can’t play City until the final, what odds on that happening, the fates seem to be aligning

@macguffin. I’m sure you’re very happy we drew Barcelona (if they are still any good in your eyes).

In any case I didn’t get to responding to your condescending post about my “spiritual enlightenment”. Being incorrect or inconsistent when speaking about football is not a crime and I will not allow you to crucify me for it as you have to happyhurling – I was wrong, so what?

I have to be consistent and correct at all times while working but I am not obligated to be that in leisure – it’s a football forum mate, not a court of law.

Also, saying I “disappear” when things go wrong is simply untrue.

I think we owe them several mufc but I have to say, I don’t think this will be a time for payback mate. Hope I’m wrong. I’m afraid my only focus for the season now is on Citeh not winning the quadruple and, sadly, I put that above us finishing top four. I suppose that makes me a bitter red, but so be it.

Actually,I see Barca as another Chelsea-extremely reliant on Messi, like they are on Hazard. Not saying we will get through, most probably well get spanked @ NC,but they are not the Barca of old. Will be attending the game @ NC myself-knowing my luck it will be a proper spanking….

@hatters – Read my reply to united_we_win when he said the same thing. You can be sure my view doesn’t change from post to post.

to responding to your condescending post
if you want to talk about condescending, how about not telling me “You are incapable of enjoying the present” or “even though the word seems to be a foreign one to you” when your knowledge of English is highly dubious (sic. Philosophical Book). And don’t recommend a self help book that Oprah recommends to her plebian audiences.

Being incorrect or inconsistent when speaking about football is not a crime
True, nor is being a trophy hunter or flip-flop. I can live with that, I’ve had to on this site.

I will not allow you to crucify me for it as you have to happyhurling
If you are going to talk to me like a happyhurling clone then don’t be surprised if you end up on a cross next to him.

I have to be consistent and correct at all times while working but I am not obligated to be that in leisure
True, and the easy solution is for me to take whatever you say as if its something that came out of a fortune cookie.

Also, saying I “disappear” when things go wrong is simply untrue.

You are the one who said he was going to post less. And besides, I’m sure one of the statisticians here could do a post frequency analysis.

hatters, my chat with Sympathy was subject to the one with you but it didn’t turn nasty and you have to ask what was the difference.

As regards Barca and cups, you have to meet a top team sooner or later, if you meet them sooner it means they are not around for the later. But the optimum is the difficulty gradually increases the further a team progresses. Thats why they have seeding !!!

Messi then. Whats even more eimportant than the draw is to play against the right team at the right time.In this stage of CL there are no bad teams. You can get lucky draw a favourite but their form can be on the slide, injuries on star players. Lets see what happens the next weeks.

@united_we_win – true we had tough draws this year in the FA cup but look at previous years, eg. when we last won the FA cup (I listed the opponents). And remember that you should expect to face the big clubs sometime, if you knock them out sooner then it means chances are you have softer opponents in later rounds.

As I explained in another post, for me the perfect cup is when the opponents gradually get tougher the further you progresss but with the odd big clash early so as make the cup more exciting and give smaller clubs a chance. Thats why the cup used to be considered magical.

And since you’re so keen on fairness, what’s your view on seeding then. Deliberately keeping the better teams apart in early rounds. The format was changed from cup to league to guarantee the big clubs more money that the small clubs and maintain their position at the top of the pile. Hows that for fairness.

We faced PSG because we didn’t win our group. Had we done that we would have faced Althetico Madrid. Should we blame the draw or blame ourselves for not topping our group.
