No return dates yet for Robertson or Firmino (that I’m aware of anyway). The lads did brilliantly against Barca at Anfield but of course, it’d be nice to have a full strength (or as close as possible) squad to select from.

The gap between Wolves and Spurs is substantial, maybe even a little too substantial. Both Spurs and ourselves have looked leggy recently, them more so than us I think. A week break would have been better for us I think but it is what it is.

I see that Oxlade had picked up a niggle and but both himself and Salah are due to return for Wolves, so that’s good news.

Looking at Spurs, oddly enough Kane has a return date listed as June 4th. I assume they will be pulling out all the stops in order to try and trim a few days off that. Vertonghen is a doubt also. I’m not one to wish ill on someone over football but if these lads could just miss being fit to play, obviously we’ve a better chance.

Hopefully they push through a half fit Harry Kane, and put him on corners.

This is the most important game of Klopp”s era. We must win it at all costs

Agree, sick of being bridesmaid never the bride. Imagine the confidence a CL victory would bring to the next season.

Sure, if we can win the CL, I am telling you right now, it will be just as good, if not better, then winning the PL

When supporters were saying they would rather win the premiership than the champions League, I thought what ? I would take either or both ! Ok, it’s not to be both & it may not be either as Spurs will be a tough tough game, but being champions of Europe it just as good, if not better, than being champions of England. We’ve had a wonderful season already, let’s finish it by making it a great season & going one better next season. Ynwa

    Naarthal I totally disagree.

For me Liverpool have to win something this season, and winning the biggest trophy in club football will feel just as good as winning the PL, if not better.

I sincerely hope the boys can win this game, and then fully focus on winning the PL next season

I totally understand that point of view, Songman. But why I think the opposite is because that god damn league trophy has been so elusive for us.

But yeah I hope so too!

Sure Narthaal, if we can just win this game, the focus next season will 100% be the PL

I think we will finally get the last couple of players in to complete the jigsaw and next season we will perform strongly in both the league and CL again. Maybe even winning both because i feel next season we will not go into any game cautious anymore (everton and utd away) trying to nick a 1-0. We will play fearlessly and try to win every game and will go into every game thinking we can win. The mentality is there now

Think this will be Final line-up:

Alisson, Trent, Matip, VVD, Robbo, Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Salah, Bobby and Mane.

Subs: Mignolet, Lovren, Milner, Shaq, Sturridge, Origi, Gomez (was gonna put Ox in but I think Klopp will want another defensive reinforcement just in case).

If Bobby’s not fit then Origi will come in and then Ox will on the bench.

Tough final ahead for us. We’re obviously favourites and I think we have a bit more flair in attack. However, Spurs have shown themselves to be extremely resolute in this year’s competition and in Son and Moura, and others, have their own big game match winners. Does Klopp press high and early on? Not sure – you can imagine a conservative approach for the opening half from both. I doubt either side will want to risk knackering themselves out early on. Getting that balance right in the approach will be key. In a final it’s all about managing the momentum. If we went 2-0 up fairly quickly and then tired a bit second half and the game drifted and then Spurs get one back – the momentum would then be with Spurs at a critical moment in the match. Whereas if we can go 1-0 up say in the first half, then again later in the second half, it just keeps the momentum with us. And that’s what’s key in a final.

The way Liverpool went about the game in Munich is probably the best approach to go for: solid, efficient, very effective…and scoring at the right time to quash any momentum from the other side.

Biggest game of the season… 😅 I think I’ve repeated that since the beginning of the season. I got massive confidence in the lads to see this through, the heartache of every lost final in recent years must cheer them on, losing out on the league must galvanize them. Can you imagine the hunger the lads have right now. One more 100% effort and we will end our trophy draught!

Songman, if we can win the CL, it’ll be ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. It will completely take the sting out of missing out on the PL but in my opinion, the PL would be better and more important for the club.

It’s definitely up there with the PL though and honestly, for Klopp to win either… we all know how huge it would be.

This 90 minutes of football doesn’t care about our previous finals and near misses. So, the lads have got to put it out of their heads, or it’s only a negative thing. The fans also must because we get this feeling that we “deserve” something but the truth is that each final is completely separate from the others and we don’t deserve anything, inherently.

Spurs have been one of the toughest sides for us this season, second only to City perhaps. There was a time when I relished playing against Poch’s high line but he seems to know how to play against Klopp now. That or our more reserved style of this season…

The Cl final is still nearly 2 and a half weeks away but I tell you, it’s starting to sink in now. The Barca comeback was such a shock, followed by missing out on the title… you could be forgiven for forgetting that we’re one great performance away from being European champions. I think I said something similar last season though and look how that turned out. If we miss out again, it’ll hurt a lot more but we’ve got to try and enjoy it, somehow.

It’s been a crazy season and I’m really glad it’s not over just yet.

Mr Mak of course the majority of Liverpool fans (including myself), want to win the PL more than the CL, because we haven’t won it for so long.

But if you put this game in the context of the spectacular semi-final comeback against Barcelona, plus the global coverage of this match, if we can win this final it will feel just as good as winning the league, well to me at least.

Hope the boys can get the job done in Madrid, then focus fully on winning the PL next season.

This is Klopp’s first final with Liverpool in which we are the stronger team, so we must make it count

Mikus, while your approach to this game is quite sensible, by saying we should get the balance right, I just feel that with our attacking prowess, we should not hold back, and go all out to scare and destroy Spurs, just like we did against Barca.

Whilst keeping the defence tight of course

Maybe the temperature on the night will determine our approach in terms of pressing to some degree. Been looking at the weather in Madrid and already there are several nights where it’s 25C around 9:00 pm – although others when it’s considerably cooler. Also, we get used to having our pitches watered up to minutes before k/o, but with all the Champions League opening ceremony stuff, they only clear the pitch of all the matting and ‘dancing girls’ etc moments before the teams come out which means that there won’t be as much Zip on the playing surface that we get used to and is particularly important to our game.
