I reckon the draw will be rigged, the English teams will be paired up.

Barcelona v Porto, do you think?

    #1735135

    Think the following will happen:

City and Barcelona will get either Porto or Ajax.
Liverpool will face Spurs in the only all-English tie.
    United will get Juventus.

The Semi Finals at least a Semi Final v United/ Barca should be a humdinger.

Who are Manchester City paying to get these cushy draws, Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup semis (best option by far), Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup Semis (best option by a fair way), Spuds in the QF of the Champions League (one of the easiest in my opinion – beaten them last four times they have played). City may well win the quadruple now.

Ask Manu and Kingo on the Quadruple thread whom tend to agree. Well Steveo funny that coming from a success starved footie fan whose club prefer to pay off a stadium at the expense of winning pots. Must be sooooo frustrating mate.

of course it is mate, my own clubs failings and frustrations aside….this is my view

top teams always get decisions they shouldnt, United did for most of a decade and no one liked it, then when Roman came and chnaged the face of football by outspending everyone and buying everyone (even just to loan them to stop others having them) no on liked it

now city have spent big and are getting those calls, so i personally dont see difference, other than when its for your own team, all good, when its not its dodgy andpaid for etc….this is just foootball, its not right but its not just a new or city phenomena….

My original post was really only referring to the jammy bastards luck in the draw and that would have been my view even if it had been my own club. Bloody lucky they were. We have had our own bit of luck avoiding your lads and Napoli in the Europa. I am also sympathetic that you drew Napoli and will be cheering you on to beat them and progress. Let’s hope both our clubs make the final. It would be a cracker.

Sour grapes Steveo? We had a narrow escape when Abramovich toyed with buying Pompey before he bought Chelsea. You’ll probably think I’m barking mad, but despite all the idiots we’ve had as owners since then, I wouldn’t swap, thanks.
My comments about City are looking in at the prem from the outside. Sure it’s always been bent in favour of the big boys, but now they’re just taking the piss.

Fernandinho is the most persistent fouler in the league, never gets booked.

Can’t believe Fernandinho got away with that. Can they review that if VAR was in use?

Salah also got away with one.

Under the new UEFA rules that looked like handball from TAA too surprised VAR didn’t review it.

There are going to be so many penalties in the PL next season with VAR if the UEFA rules are applied to the PL in the same way.

    #1741421

Hope VAR won’t be overused like it has in the Champions League – both United’s and City’s penalties this year were examples of the system trying to find a reason for a penalty rather than letting the game flow naturally and taking a decision on an actually missed issue.

As an example, I’d put Salah’s tackle yesterday as a better reason to use VAR as he should have been sent off but the ref missed it the first time round.

Kane got injured at the right time for Spurs, won all their league games while he had his injury earlier this year, lost 7 out of 9 when he returned, they better without him for some strange reason.

Think they look to pass to him too often when he plays. When he doesn’t play they spread it about more.
