Looks Like Santa came at the right time for Mikel.Rumours that he would’ve gotten the sack from this useless board today but The players finally tuned up.All players good performances.Leno,Holding, xhaka,Tierney,Saka and most importantly Emile smith.

I just have one thing to say,I’ve been crying out for Mikel to change something and play a Drifting midfielder rather than three out and out forwards and he finally did it today by putting in ESR who was one of our best players. He could really shine for the club and that type of player is exactly what we’re missing.

    Merry Christmas all!

Get in there! Much much better. Saka man of the match with Martinelli close second – he gave us so much more energy. xhaka and holding also player very well. Xhaka has had his critics – and rightly so but he showed his experience to hold the team together. Happy Boxing Day! …well chuffed

Congrats Stevo and all the Arsenal lads thoroughly deserved win.

Arsenal were always much better than the recent run suggested and the inclusion of some of the young lads today worked well for you today.

Talking of Arsenal bring relegated was total nonsense they will finish well up the table at the end of the season.

Arteta just needs a bit of time and some financial support from the owners.

As I said let’s not get carried away as well as we played today we are just as likely to lose next week. I am also worried that Arteta did not choose this team it was forced on him and if the players were all fit not sure he would have played that 11. That being said today I am a happy gooner. We will be inconsistent this season and we still do not have good enough players especially midfield but let’s hope it’s Arteta is learning on the job and some of these youngsters keep getting better! One day we may have a decent team on our hands

Great win and finally some movement on the pitch.

I will not get carried away this was the first PL game since Fulham that we actually played well.

Lets see If they can be consistent for once.

I also hope that Willian just because he was sick yesterday is not allowed back in the team just because he gets well again. Take note from Inter when its not working ship them out.

If we win the next three games – which we should – the league table will look a lot different. Talking about a relegation battle was always nonsense.

Aubameyang has to win his place back and Willian should be nowhere near the team. If we can bring the right player/s in then I think we can really push on from this.

It’s going to be a crazy season – top four is definitely still possible.

fantastic win from the lads.what we must do now is go on
a good run and brighton & west brom coming up won’t be
easy.for the first time we started on the front foot and
that was great to see.what a goal from xhaka.honestly don’t
know why he don’t shoot more because he’s got a very good
left peg.him and elneny worked their butts off.

what a difference martinelli has made to this team.energy,
pace, quality, never give up attitute is just unbelievable.
if i had one question for arteta this morning it would be,
why are players like bellerin, holding being capt when we have
tierney(awesome again) who looks a natural leader and capt
for me.for me he and saka are our players of the season
    so far.

smith rowe looks a player too,and we have some very good
talent at the club.hope this is a turning point for us now
but it was great to beat that lot.hope we can get a player
or two in jan now.while i’m just thinking of survival right
now.but we are only 10 points of top 4.that’s how crazy
this prem lge is.any good run can get you right up there.
let’s get back in that top 10 and see where it takes us.
welcome win and lets build on it now.

One Swallow doesn’t make a summer.

Good win, better movement and player attitude. Xhaka had a good game, but still very slow for prem league. Holding must watch his passing, especially square into the centre.
Next two games max points please. However, both these teams will try and bully us and hassle the young guns. We must be prepared.

    Nice Christmas present.

Mop – No , He’s not going to get his wallet out and it’s not a question to even be asked based on his history at the club where he’s been the only Owner in the PL to have not financed transfers, ever.

I think the major difference yesterday was quite obvious. It was something I had asked for repeatedly and you can backtrack my posts it’s to add another midfielder who can run into spaces collect the ball and Link up play.Emile smith did exactly that and did it well.I was sick and tired of seeing three out and out forwards. We didn’t win just because the youngsters played, we won because this is the first game Mikel atleast attempted to try something different.
It’s no wonder he made Aouar his priority over the summer because he knew what the team was lacking even though we desperately needed Partey as well.

Now,to rely on ESR would be stupid.Sure he could be given chances until then but we desperately need to sign atleast one creative mid.Ideally we need two,but we shouldn’t make any panic buys.
I think Aouar is very acquirable. We should be able to get him for around 35-40m.

I also stick by everything I said over the past few weeks about the players.
Let’s be honest, it’s a miracle we won yesterday because that team sheet was very underwhelmlming. You had a Left footed CB playing in the centre of a back 3 not to mention was playing his first game since forever. You had Holding beside him who fills me with no confidence at all. Then you have a full back playing as a centre back because we lack options in there.

For me,I still don’t trust Leno.Good keeper, but zero command and communication. Not the overall package. We should’ve never sold Martinez and I still say fish for another keeper and we can have Leno as Back up.
Holding and Mari not good enough I feel.Ok,Holding can be as Last choice back up defender but I’d stop there. He should Never ever be relied on to get such a huge run in.

Our recruitment simply put has been the worst I’ve ever seen at the club.
No matter what happens,Ideally we should be protesting against The kronke’s but as noticed in the past the fans don’t have it in them. So,at the minimum I think we need to see a wipeout of all personnel working above Arteta. And By that I seriously mean each and every one of them.I’d even like the fraud Mertesacker to resign from handling the youth players.I seriously don’t know how this man has got the job,I think Wenger was the one who suggested it.I’m sorry Wenger will always be a club Legend but he couldn’t have left the club in the poorer state.

Sorry to come on a dampener, as much as it felt sweet you can see why we struggle to create. Our midfield is so passive with absolute no understanding how to play progressively both Elneny and Xhaka play too safe. Elneny in particularly is El-sideways and backwards. Sorry, he really is rubbish. He runs but he still seems way off getting to the ball, but what do you expect he’s meant to be a squad player. I counted five occasions where both Xhaka and Elneny couldn’t play it forward when it was clearly on, that allowed Chelsea to regroup and it has been for all other teams we’ve come up against. Credit to Xhaka he actually gave a performance, and he’s capable to do those passes he played but doesn’t do it often enough.

Players like Bellerin also had a good game, but that’s the thing Arteta probably will say they’re good enough, no they are not. They will revert back to type as usual and hinder us in the long haul. Get rid.

And If they Played it forward and lost the ball, you’d have accused them of giving the ball away too many times.

Really BSM,exactly what type of games have you been watching?I can show you numerous stats right now to prove that Xhaka is actually a very progressive passer, infact he’s been our most progressive passer in midfield over the past few years. If I show you them, you will somehow neglect them as always.

Yes,he has weaknesses for which he gets lambasted but he has certain strengths that people ignore blatantly.I can back it up with cold hard stats but there’s no point anymore as I have done many a time before. That’s the reason why I’ve always defended him on here. And no,I’m not going to have a xhaka debate again for me three professional managers constantly picking him year in year out is good enough to prove my argument.

Each to their own but Xhaka is a liability and is not good enough for Arsenal FC it is that simple. Has a great left foot but will I take his left foot over a “proper” player… no.
Elneny not good enough either. If we have to settle for these players then we will not challenge at all and shows you how low we have sunk. It was a much needed win but masks over issues that will raise their head again no doubt. I will always take a win over Chelsea but let’s see if we are back to reality in our next 3 games. Xhaka didn’t even apologise for getting sent off. But you continue to be his fanboy.

I don’t think Xhaka is good enough to warrant starting every match, but at the moment, Party aside he’s probably the best we’ve got in centre midfield and against Chelsea he played really well.

People say he’s too slow but for the position he plays I don’t think that’s much of a problem. Some of the criticism I think is fair some very unfair but I think we can all agree that there is room for improvement in centre midfield and would welcome a couple more signings!

Yesterday he had a passing success off 77% does that mean I think he’s inaccurate? No, not at all. His passing is backwards and sidewards on the whole, bring me any statistic in the world, I watch football with my eyes and they don’t lie TSO. Have your belief all you want but for me he is not good enough for the team the same with Bellerin. One good game does not excuse all the countless games they’ve given poor performances.

I’d say we need two midfielders one creative and one to partner Partey, this is my opinion.

Well, you asked for it.I don’t want to waste too much time in proving you wrong.Because if you could backtrack my comments I’ve provided every stat in the world before in favour of xhaka before.

The above is just a random article, but according to squawka he actually provided the most passes in the final third as you can see.I don’t know when the stat was recorded,But I repeat it’s literally most passes in the final third – That is “forward passes”.That literally debunks your theory of him only giving backward and sideward passes.

Now you will somehow be ignorant and neglect the above.Tell you what,Instead of wasting my time, you could literally look up on the net and prove many articles stating he’s in fact a progressive passer.

I’m not going to debate anymore on him,Done it too many times and I will still maintain he’s good enough to play for this club and much more important then people think.

Arteta’s hand was more forced when it came to playing some of the younger players such as ESR. I’m so glad he did and hope he continues to do so.
In regards to Bellerin, I don’t know how he can be made captain. He kept Abraham onside and had his hand up as the ball was being played in without even making a challenge. Tierney deserves it all day long.
Great performance overall and think we do have a really good core of players in Tierney, Martinelli, Saka, Partey and Gabriel.
Hope this win doesn’t get to their heads but instead provides confidence.

Well I’ve been saying all year DUMP THE DROSS PLAY THE TALENT and once again I’ve been proved right. Saka, Smith-Rowe, Martinelli all play together up top and what do we get? We get effort, work rate, pace, movement, energy, fight, pressing, in fact we get everything we’ve been lacking. Every other player in the team showed more effort, Bellerin was far better than usual and even Xhaka wasn’t his normal useless self. He managed to score his one goal a season from a free kick but even a blind squirrel finds the occasional nut, it was a good free kick though and his pass through to Tierney for the first goal was a quality pass, he still can’t tackle and he’s still far too slow and that’s never going to change. Elneny solid if unspectacular, Mari rusty but not too bad, Holding had a very good game as did Tierney but the 3 youngsters were our best players. Smith-Rowe very impressive on the ball and some quality distribution. Saka a million times better on the right than Willian or Pepe and Martinelli’s movement and pace a big improvement on what we have seen from Abameyang. Those rambling about money in Jan, well Kroenke has financed our last 2 transfer windows but when you have £100m wasted on Saliba and Pepe he may be reluctant to again. Instead of wasting money just play the right players, it’s cheaper and easier. And the right players are the kids, don’t say you weren’t told.
