I actually meant this subsequent post 999 as follows:

Paul – just a couple of lines about our club.

    1. No matter how the Board, the Press or the fans cut it, the way our club is run is a disgrace. The immenant departure of Callum Hudson-Odoi is the result of our sending out the wrong massages to our young players and youngsters yet to come forward will note this what it happening now.

    2. The primary activity of Chelsea FOOTBALL Club is finance, not the core activity you might expect from what it says on the tin.

    3. Sarri is castigated for not replacing certain players but stubbornly plays the “same old, same old”. How can he do differently when he has inadequate reserves and over 40 players are being warehoused in the football shopwindow?

    4. Pundits and friends alike say that we have not done enough recently to bring the team up to speed. Paul, I have been saying this for four years. The recent trophies have blinded us into unreasoned acceptance with too little appreciation of the future.

    5. Everyone is focussed on 4th finish to secure a CL place. Yes, but are we good enough to play CL football? Not beyond Christmas 2019 we’re not!

    6. Basically, we are not good enough with too few adequate starters and an under strength squad. The Board is ‘credited’ with supplying our coaches with players but whereas we need (say) a Sandro we buy a Loan candidate. You think not? Where does our 40 player Loan list come from? We need two strikers (said so four years ago but our club does not plan ahead),a playmaker, a better partner for Kante and basically a new defence. Rudigar….fine! But then…..? They might be in our Academy but how would our wasteful clun know?

    7. Sorry to be a grouch but for too long our club and Its fans have put their collective heads in the sand and ignored the fact that winning trophies is fine but it you want to continue doing it you have to,plan ahead and plan to improve. We were warned; Guardiola said we needed ten new players. Three years on and it would be a careless fan or club official who would claim it is any better. It is worse and is likely to get worse before it gets better if the plan is to put Chelsea FC back,in the forefront of international club football. It starts with the Board focussing on football at least in equal part with club finances. If we can’t afford the price of a top player it is plainly daft to spend money on a lesser ‘warm body’. They only end up in Arnhem whilst youngsters are sold. You couldn’t make it up…..and with Chelsea you don’t have to.

    8.Director of Football now.

It would be good to mull over these comments within this thread lads.

Here’s my response to Allan’s e mail above.

    1) I think CHO has been got at and that Bayern should be reported to FIFA. I agree he should have got a bit more football but would he be playing week in week out at any of the top 6 probably not imo. The Club have reached out to him with an enormous contract for an 18 year old clearly don’t want to take Bayern’s offer and are seemingly looking to play him more regularly but he is 18 and should be respecting the fact that the Club developed him from aged 8 very sad if he goes because he looks like a player and arguably we should have been introducing him last season.

    2) Chelsea FC have to be a business FFP prevents Roman from injecting his own money into the Club and the majority of our transfer spending is now funded by sales.

    3) Sarri has a massive task he is trying to rebuild the team/squad and at the same time deliver a completely different style of football and he has had only 6 months to do it. Even Ethan Hawks would struggle with that.😊

    4) Agreed but time has been against Sarri since he joined.

    5) You’re probably right but CL football provides additional revenues and encourages players to join.

    6) We’re not good enough currently to challenge for the title but we are good enough to challenge for a top 4 place but Higuain will have to be the answer. Long term planning requires a DOF as we both agree.

    7) Getting CFC back to the forefront of international football is probably currently a bridge too far given our likely available transfer funds the baulk of which will come from player sales. Hazard?

    8) DOF now. Agreed.

ha even AVB, Scolari or Grant could do a better job than Sarri, noone even knows what sarriball means the team plays the same football they have in previous years and even worse, this guy is going to destroy Chelsea, we may beat City in the cup final maybe but that want be enough, we not going to win the Europa or FA cup or finish in the top 4. with this guy, you living in a fools paradise if you believe its going to get better while this guy is in charge. if I am wrong I will write a personal letter to Sarri apologizing but I know that want be necessary.

Just signed a pretty good striker and the rest may well fall in to place. I would not be ripping and tearing just yet Moos. Regarding Allan and 999s thoughts, things really must change around the management of this club (above Sarri) to move the club forward. With the implementation of Sarri and his brand of football, and that very late in the off-season, and with majority of players inherited from Conte’s reign, I think the expectations are way too high. Surely Sarri needs to bring in Sarri-ball suited players of his choice to really make it all happen. This summer the management MUST support Sarri 100% in achieving this. Sell off as many of the 40 loanees as the club has to to accumulate funds required. Hopefully we can somehow convince Hazard to stay on and be part of it.

Must admit that far from convinced that we need the changes that some call for

Just looking at the overall results since Roman took over there are many clubs that would like to be in our shoes. I know people feel that without a footballing brain between them that the board is not efficient or aware of what to do but I would argue that is not a true or real reflection on their accomplishments over the years

So long as the board consistently support and back any manager within the remit of how they want to run the Club then I have few issues. We continue to attract top players to the Club and we continue to attract top youth players to the Club. Of course if we could promote more from within then that would save a lot of money in the transfer market and yet if we sold some of these then ewe tend to recoup good money which has by and large increased year on year with Hudson Odoi set to fetch upwards of 30m if he leaves

I am not saying that is the best solution but if he wants to leave then we should get as much as possible and insert as many clauses as possible for the future

Have to say that I am not so anti board/owner as many appear to be and still feel extremely lucky and grateful for the day that Roman walked through our doors and agreed to purchase the Club. KTBFFH

People who are getting at Sarri really need to be brought down to earth, and quickly.

    1) He’s been at the club with not even 1 months preparation during pre-season due to not having majority of players available.

    2) He was only allowed to buy 1 outfield player, with a second only on loan.

    3) To teach a new squad his way of playing takes time, especially as we play every 3 days.

    5) We have kept the second most clean sheets in the PL along with Man City.

    6) We have had the second most shots in the league, only behind Man City, tie that with not having a decent striker

    7) We are 4th (our expectation this season is top four)

    8) We are in the Carabao Cup Final

    9) We are in the FA Cup still (ok we have had easy games but you still have to win them)

    10) Still in Europa League (again, playing easy teams to date.

And people still have a knack for moaning????

We are in another final and maybe another one out of that to come but it does not disguise the fact that the club is very poorly run and matters are not looking good despite what you like to believe, we have to find another way to make money as new laws bite home rom next season, we face all sorts of embargoes, fines and bans for mismanagement in the transfer market yet again esp with youth players, we have anti Semitic behavior, racist behavior, crowd violence, new stadium plans gone for good, a final against the top club in the world, a FA cup tie against the leagues form team who are due for win at the Bridge, very small chance of making the top 4, our 2 best players leaving in the summer, little chance of attracting top players and a manager who I believe want be there too long plus an owner who finds it difficult to even get into the country. Any solutions to all these problems and I will gladly pass it on to the relevant authorities though judging from our same mistakes over and over again it may not not help much. God help us.

Can I ask those who complain about how the Club is run exactly what changes they want to see. If it is simply introducing more youth then personally I feel that is very short sighted

As stated previously, since he arrived we have seen nothing but unparalleled success for Chelsea. Roman has injected millions into the Club not just on players but the training ground, the academy and the general infrastructure

Agreed that the Club is probably run more like a business now but that is the direction that football chose to go once they signed up to Sky and were blinded by the massive amount of money that they receive

Roman and the board are far from perfect and mistakes are made and probably better judgement on occasion could be used, but my gut feeling is that if you asked the same question of any fan they would all say the same about their own club as well

Myself, I am still grateful for the day that Roman purchased the Club and for everything he has done for us and would not change a thing (apart from losing to ManU in the CL final….!!) KTBFFH

Very pleased to see Chelsea reject the transfer request of Hudson Odoi. Feel that it is quite a brave decision as well and now puts a degree of pressure on Sarri but I like to think that he was privy to the discussions behind the decision making

From what I have read in many articles the wording is that Hudson Odoi has agreed to stay for the rest of season so reading between the lines I can only assume that Chelsea has convinced Hudson Odoi that he will get more game time at Chelsea and that is all he ever wanted. As I said, that does put some pressure on Sarri but he has been just as vocal about the attributes of the player so really this should not be that much of a burden on him

I have stated previously that for me, Huson Odoi should now feature in every game and that does mean starting an EPL game as well, in order to show him he is a valued and trusted member of the squad. By keeping him until the Summer we also buy time to continue to train him and see what Hazard is going to do. If Hazard does leave then potentially Hudson Odoi could be considered as the starter for the wide left role (assuming he continues to improve with the game time he will get)

If Hazard stays and with Pulisic coming then that is more of an issue but by then hopefully Hudson Odoi will have been convinced that Chelsea is the right place to stay and play his football. Bit of a gamble by the Club in terms of potentially losing out on big bucks but the opportunity for such a talent to remain at the Club is probably worth it. KTBFFH

Moos, why support such a disaster of a club then? You’ve highlighted all the terrible shortcomings of CFC…why are u still following them? Amazing that this shambles of a club is arguably the most successful PL club of the 21st century. Can’t have it all mate. If we integrated more youth, held onto our managers longer, spent less on risky transfers, loaned out far less players, had another faceless corporate owner…..we certainly wouldn’t have been successful as we have been. All clubs have their issues and frustrations pal.

If no one responds at all to the negative beings on here they will give up and jog on. Sure they are entitled to their opinions but ignoring them completely takes away the lust for confrontation/reaction.

Challenge from hereon is to do just that.

If we turn the corner with Higuain and therefore Hazard playing where he is at his best that may just seal the deal for us anyway. Even more so if Callum plays like Messi and Ronaldo combined for the next 4 months and signs a new contract 🙂

not surprised by a few regular apologists but if you really love the club like I do you would want them to be run efficiently, above the law and trouble free and at the same time to continue the success, cant think of any other club that has as many problems, I will support the club even if it becomes a regular mid table team but what they doing is not necessary, we again digging our own holes and not learning from them, success on the field is another matter of which I myself often boast about esp. to my united friends sickening as they may be to talk too.

Moos you say Man City are a club that are managed well, yet have had 2 highly rated youngsters leave the club? Plus they don’t even have many fans, how many times do you see their stadium half full? They are also subject to FFP investigations.

No club is run properly either, Man Utd can’t sign any decent players because they have Ed Woodward, Real Madrid are in a mess, PSG and Man City are being investigated or have FFP looming over them. Spurs don’t have a home, Arsenal’s owners don’t care about their own fans…
