Hi Sean, nice to hear from you I am good mate thanks for asking hope things are good for you and yours.
Saturday is a funny game both sides aren’t in the best of form and there will be a lot of tension. What might make the difference is that perhaps Chelsea need the win a tad more than Liverpool do.
If I was putting money on it I would bet on a low scoring score draw as both sides aren’t ripping up any trees currently defensively and both sides are having troubles scoring too.
From a Chelsea perspective much will depend on whether Costa is fit enough to start and put in a performance given his rib problems and without him Chelsea look completely blunt up front.
Klopp as you rightly say can’t be judged until he’s had a transfer window or two but I am sure he will be a good appointment for Liverpool and I am enjoying his interviews.
Chelsea have performed a lot better from the CSKA game on and there are signs that they might be getting a bit of their Mojo back they’re not getting too much luck at the moment but hopefully that will begin to turn around shortly.
Unfortunately as you touched upon Jose has pressed his own personal self destruct button and bought a lot of unnecessary pressure on himself and the team but I don’t want him gone as football wise there are few better but where it will all end its difficult to say he’s certainly facing significant punishment on the back of his nonsense at the West Ham game hopefully finally he may learn from that one.
Always good to see you on here Sean. Take care buddie. Cheers 999November 2, 2015 at 1:56 pm #691492
I’m pretty sure a number of you are in the same boat as me – undecided on Mourinho. I want him to stay, however he has to change his attitude towards Managers, Refs/FA and Media and be more humble in defeat. Also to stop this us against the world mentality. We have players that are good enough to win matches without a siege mentality. If this doesn’t change then i definitely want him to go.
We need to be more attacking with our fullbacks. How many crosses do we see put in to the box? Correct me if i’m wrong but Costa scored a decent number of goals at Atletico with his head.November 2, 2015 at 2:37 pm #691558
No, AMZ. It is not more over-lapping full- back we want: it is more attacking and creative midfielders that we need. One of the mist depressing features of the past year has been the ease with which Chelsea fans have bought into the Mourinho philosophy of midfielders “tracking back” at the exclusion of their more traditional role. People are both mystified and angry at the so-called decline of Hazard and Oscar. My view is that you would see an almost immediate return to form were they to be told “go out there and enjoy yourselves; express yourselves”. We might even win more, too…..and win more attractively than we did in the second half of last season when Mourinho changed the attitude and mentality of our team because he thought that the heavy defeat at Tottenham presaged an imagined defensive vulnerability. This attitude has extended to this season and, in my opinion, accounts for the doleful look of the team. As for full-backs: they are primarily DEFENDERS…their job is to DEFEND. Over-lapping is a skill enjoyed by some, but by no means all, full-backs. Unless you are exceptional, stick to what the player is good at and stop thinking you are a magician who can make silk purses out of sows ears.November 2, 2015 at 3:14 pm #691645
quite right Palmeab I still remember on the previous site of Teamtalk where a few posters mentioned that for an attacking and creative midfielder to track back would invariably cause him or them to lose their creativity which is more than obvious now while the majority of fans including 1905 did not see it that way, anyway Mourinho is always appointed for the quicker short term success and is not the kind of person or manager who will build up a team for a successful long term future, hence as one example his lack of playing young talented players, no-one can tell me that Loftus Cheek cannot do better than Oscar, Mikel, Ramires (despite his goal) and even on present form Fabregas while Matic I think is still a must starter.November 4, 2015 at 8:22 pm #694441
My broadband goes down and we bleeding score! Lets hope we get a good win under our belts tonight.November 4, 2015 at 8:53 pm #694465
tackle from zouma was superb!November 4, 2015 at 9:01 pm #694466
Be nice to see hazard come on fresh and get some confidence tonight, a par performance so far and that is a good thing 🙂 dinamo are not a bad team at allNovember 4, 2015 at 9:20 pm #694469
Chelsea again lead through an own goal look dead in attack and when they get a sniff can’t convert. The attack is seriously our problem. Defence looks solidNovember 4, 2015 at 9:21 pm #694471
FFS! we can still win this!November 4, 2015 at 9:26 pm #694474
And there we go miss miss miss concede a goal. This defence is not good enough to keep clean sheets we need 2 goals a game minimum to win games and that’s why we are so poor at the momentNovember 4, 2015 at 9:26 pm #694477
Who is the man once again, eden hazar….sorry WILLIAN!!!!November 4, 2015 at 9:40 pm #694486
Gotta say the support was outstanding tonight, jose should feel proud tonight and well done to anyone who was there for showing him how much he means to us.
Delighted with result, performance was decent too, and the attitude shown after conceding the equaliser was first class.
Good signs tonight.November 5, 2015 at 11:08 am #694902
Thank goodness I can finally comment on here, I have searched for this page for weeks. I must say the new design isn’t the best. Just to focus on yesterday’s result and what it means for our confidence and to some extent our season, it was a very important win but the big positive was our response after falling behind with 15 minutes to go. I think our reaction was great and I can only wish we play with more of this hunger in all of our matches from here on. Our attack hasn’t been great with only Willian putting in 101% in every game, I truly don’t know what has happened to E. Hazard, Costa or Fabregas. I can only hope that we sort ourselves as fast as possible. Special mention to all the fans at the bridge who gave Jose all the support, let’s face it, the team needs all the support they can get. Chelsea is a family and families don’t turn their backs on one another…….
#CFC my pride…….November 5, 2015 at 1:54 pm #695130
A wins a win but once again it doesn’t paper over the cracks Matic still struggled as did Costa and we don’t have players to put pressure on them and we gave away a shocking goal.
Hazard coming on helped seize the iniative and Willian looks more like Hazard than Hazard does with another super performance.
Baba did OK too and looks worth a run of games although I can see Ivan coming back in for the Stoke game on the basis of physicality and height.
Be to top the Group now as we will probably need a 2 nil home win v Porto and a really tough draw awaits but we could hopefully be a different team by then.
The fans did themselves, the club and the Manager proud with their support for him last night!November 5, 2015 at 4:43 pm #695298
Very happy with the teams character after we conceded that goal but again outfield goals aren’t happening which is a big problem.
Costa needs to start being a striker rather than a winger. He spends too much time out wide, is never in the box when the cross comes in and when he is in the box he doesn’t attack the ball or try getting across his defender. When he gets clear cut opportunities to shoot he always goes to ground when a defender gets close to him.
I thought Matic was decent. Way better than Ramires who again needs the entire pitch to control the ball.
The back 4 were solid. There was balance on either side, how many times did Kiev get behind our RB and LB? That has been a major problem defensively when Ivanovic was in the team. I thought Baba looked more at ease in this game than in previous which was nice to see he also show good recovery when he got beaten too.
Terry is looking more like himself again which is great too.
Willian has been incredible. He is literally our attack this season so far. One player attack.November 5, 2015 at 4:52 pm #695313
Agree with you on Ramires bort, worryingly to me anyway is that Matic looks like a shadow of his former self and Mikel is a worrying replacement.
Terry is much better with Zouma alongside of him imo. Willian as you say has been outstanding however the worrying trend is our reliance in goals not from open play and the a team as a whole despite holding up well to the Kiev equaliser still look to me like a team shorn worryingly short of confidence. Cheers 999November 5, 2015 at 5:57 pm #695395
just glad to see a much needed win. Not the best performance but the reaction to the equaliser and the crowds support for Jose were both pleasing to see.
Plus, Arsenals result should see us free from Syd for a day two!November 5, 2015 at 6:08 pm #695401
Always a bonus BL. COYS! Lol.November 5, 2015 at 7:05 pm #695427
Nine, Majority of the team are shadows of themselves. From what I saw last night it looked like Matic was going back to basics, he kept it simple and did his job effectively. I thought his first half he was decent, he didn’t let much get at our defence.
Fabregas played some key passes and his vision to play and see certain moments is key to the team, but again last night he showed his movement was not good enough he is way too static.
The thing with the kiev equaliser is we should have been 2-0 up at this point having earlier missed the chance to make goals out several score-able situations/chances and so it comes back to what I have been saying; if our attack is not scoring it puts a lot more pressure on our defence to keep a clean sheet, which at the moment doesn’t look likely each game. Our attack needs to sharpen up big time. Defensively we are bad because going forward the attacking play is largely inaccurate and ineffective.November 6, 2015 at 7:38 am #695715
ONLY WILLIAN IS A STAND OUT ATTACKING PLAYER FOR US SO FAR !!
Willian has silenced most of his critics with his newfound end products and efervensence dilligent work rate !!! KEEP IT UP WILLY !!
COSTA – i don’t know what happen to him, Costa is definitely out of form, and simply can’t create something out of nothing ala Didier and Hasselbaink. He is not a great targetman, can’t hold the ball well enough to let others interplay with him, not attacking crosses, not taking shots. Come one Costa, at least make some runs, take earlier shots !!
