another defender who could challenge for that centre half position next season is Matt Miazga, the United States international defender, who won the Dutch Cup with Vitesse Arnhem at the weekend, the club’s first major trophy in their 125-year history. Apparently he has been impressing as well.
May 2, 2017 at 4:19 pm #1473422I must admit that I was firmly of the opinion that the future for our defence would be centered around Zouma and Christensen
Today I am reading that the deal for the Soton defender is all but sealed and that Christensen has been thrown in as a sweetener. On top of that I also read that Conte is now having doubts about Zouma although it was not clear if was to do with his overall fitness or his distribution (or lack of it) or both…!!
So that could mean we would have next season Cahill, Luiz, Dave, Ake and Van Dijk at the back to choose from…? Not too shabby but a shame that a couple of promising youngsters would be moved on – assuming there is any truth in the story….? KTBFFH
May 2, 2017 at 5:10 pm #1473438CFC1905 – If Christensen moving in the other direction, means we get the guy we really want for £15M or so less than we would otherwise had to pay, then his time at Chelsea would have been a success, for us, at least!
May 2, 2017 at 5:19 pm #1473440If this rumour is true hopefully we’ve learnt our lesson and will insert both a buy back and sell on clause into any deal for Christensen.
May 4, 2017 at 9:23 am #1474098Just got an update from another site I use that stories in Spain claim that Costa has signed a pre agreement to go to China. It claims the Chines club is still prepared to pay 80-90M euro for Costa and that he is still unhappy with Conte for not letting him go in January
Obviously no idea as to how valid the story is but it does reference the reported meal that Costa and his agent had last week with Asian businessmen
Have to say for that money we should just take it and that eases the pain of buying Lukaku or Morata who seem now to be the 2 main names in the frame. KTBFFH
May 4, 2017 at 9:25 am #1474099Liquidator – think you are correct but as Borrusia were prepared to pay 18m last year I think we could wipe 20m of the cost making it an even better deal and you can see why we have so many players in the shop window each season. KTBFFH
May 4, 2017 at 11:01 am #1474169ha these reports keep changing – the latest now is that Conte wants to keep both Aka and Christensen at the club next season and wants Zouma to go out on loan. Zouma has not recaptured his form since that bad injury so I think its a good move to send him on loan to give him a chance to find that form. So with 5 rated centre halves at the club next season will they still spend a lot of money on more centre halves
May 4, 2017 at 1:28 pm #1474269Yes. Zouma ake christiansen and cahill arnt world class centrbacks. and from what iv seen from christi in germany. I dont rate him at all. The only 2 class above the rest centrebacks we have are luiz and azpi imo. We will be buying a centre back in the summer.
May 4, 2017 at 3:32 pm #1474367Don’t expect too many changes. I see 6 signings coming in:
Bakayoko and Lukaku seem nailed on.
These are the additional areas we will strengthen:
GK – ???
CB – Van Dijk, Koulibaly
WB – ???
ST – MorataTeam for next season as of now:
—————– Courtois —————-
—- Azpilicueta —- Luiz —- Cahill —-
Moses —- Bakayoko —– Kante —- Alonso
—- Pedro —— Lukaku —— Hazard —-
May 5, 2017 at 8:06 am #1474632Bort – I cannot see that we will buy Van Dijk and then not play him. I personally still have doubts about Moses and think we will be on the look out for a replacement or lets says someone else capable of fulfilling that role
Looks as though Stockdale from Brighton could be the cover keeper based on latest reports with Begovic moving on
Assuming we do buy Lukaku then I still feel we need a capable cover for striker and I am assuming that Michy will go on loan somewhere to improve his game so personally I could see someone like Llorente joining especially if Swansea get relegated. Cannot see the logic of Lukaku and Morata as they would both expect to start. KTBFFH

You dont see many changes but you expect 6 signings? Makes no sense. When was the last time we bought 6 players in on market?
Im expecting a huge amount of business this summer. We already have 60 mil banked from oscar. Have 3 players sold from jan wages spare. Costa will be sold for 60-70 million?Cfc totally agree on moses. I think we will definitley see a top wingback come in. Im also expecting a centreback. And you would expect atleast 2 strikers (michy on loan) and a centre mid to replace matic
Thats 5 signings so i just about agree with you on that bort. 4 of them would come straight into the team. I think the weak links are matic,Moses,cahill/luiz (depending on cl ect) and then costas replacement with a back up striker on the bench.
Some people are seriously underestimating how many games we will play next season. Conte will want to win the prem and try and win the cl. His ambition is huge. Some people think we need to replace costa and get a midfielder in and we are good to go haha
May 5, 2017 at 9:57 am #1474678Amazing to think we are on the verge of winning the league with such duds in the squad as Moses, Cahill and Matic. Carrying over a quarter of the personnel in the team must have been such a burden for the good players we do have.
May 5, 2017 at 10:55 am #1474722`—-—————Courtois ——————–
——— —–Azpi —- Luiz —- Cahill —-
Moses —- Bakayoko —– Kante —- Alonso
————— Hazard———–
————Lukaku —— Morata ———
May 5, 2017 at 11:12 am #1474739Abrahams can be the back up striker-he will get decent game time as he proved himself and will bring pressure on the first choice striker whoever he may be-he will learn more at Chelsea playing against the big teams or even being in the squad
May 5, 2017 at 11:14 am #1474745also I am sure that a proper central defender with a bit of height will be brought in
May 5, 2017 at 12:52 pm #1474844Personally, I do not think that Tammy is ready yet to be back up for Chelsea when he has not even played at the highest level. I immediately think of Bamford who we had high hopes for and how he has never had a decent run at Palace, Norwich or Boro – which says something to me…!!
My belief is that Tammy is much better than Bamford but must admit that my preference is for him to go on loan to an EPL club at least for 6 months. I could be wrong and if Conte feels he can do it then what a great opportunity and a saving for Chelsea but simply not convinced
LIQUID – do you honestly feel that Moses is good enough to play in the CL? His whole attacking threat has gone and he focusses mostly on his defensive duties (which are good). I have said before that as a unit I think we have done well this season. But if you look to improve the unit then there are always changes that can be made and IMO, Moses falls into that category..? KTBFFH
May 5, 2017 at 1:30 pm #1474874I think Conte will significantly strengthen in the summer if he can get the players he wants and Roman is seemingly prepared to back him there’s already circa £70m in the pot from the Oscar/Hanford sales and Costa is likely to go to China for circa £70m so that’s a war chest of £140m before any contributions from the club or any additional sales.
Conte wants to try and win the CL and to have a chance of doing that and remaining highly competitive in the PL means he needs more quality signings additionally exciting signings might well help us to maintain Hazard next season too.
May 5, 2017 at 2:26 pm #1474916CFC1905 – I just get bored of seeing players who have done a really fantastic job for us denigrated as not being good enough. As I mentioned, if it were true, its unbelievable how successful we have been this season whilst carrying over 25% of our starting 11. I would also point out how we missed Moses against Palace. Do I believe Moses will cope in the CL? – I’m not sure, and as always I will leave that decision to the manager, but he certainly surpassed everyone’s expectations this season. I doubt one person on this forum could see him holding down a regular spot in a potential PL winning side, especially at wing back, so why not? Are there better players in their positions out there than Moses, Cahill and Matic – for sure. Would I like them in our team? Of course, but the same could be said for almost every position. I certainly think we need players to provide competition for the wing back positions and elsewhere for that matter, but for the meanwhile let’s celebrate how well our current players have done this season.
May 5, 2017 at 2:43 pm #1474934To carry on my theme, our biggest star and most impressive performer has been one Antonio Conte. Without his organisational and motivational skills many of the regular starters this season would not look like they could hold down a regular place in a PL winning team. So, can he raise their performance levels of those same players to that of a potentially CL winning side? I wouldn’t bet against him. Before this season started I repeatedly told anyone on here interested, and many that weren’t, that I felt Conte’s defensive organisational skills could mean we have a very tight defence and a very good season, especially with Kante in the mix as a defensive midfielder, and so it has been proven. Ultimately, whilst winning the league is still in the balance, I cant get excited about the froth, nonsense and rumours of the transfer market. I am too worried about whether we are going to beat Boro or not!
May 5, 2017 at 3:05 pm #1474955phwepsi,
I was suggesting little will change with the first 11.
6 signings is pretty normal amount for any club with players going out
We haven’t replaced:
Oscar
IvanovicLeaving is:
Terry
and then probably:
Begovic
and maybe players like:
Matic, Batshuayi
And bare in mind we will have the extra CL games we will need a bigger more competetive squad for next season
