Very tough game we will have to be at least as good as we were in the away game.
Three players were back with the rest of the squad today as N’Golo Kante, Ross Barkley and Andreas Christensen all trained.
However, Antonio Rudiger and Ruben Loftus-Cheek were still missing from training.
Very good news on Kante.November 4, 2019 at 2:49 pm #1796734
We already saw Ajax. A very good team. I would be happy with a draw but a win at home is always preferable. I think if Kanté is back, we should rest Kovacic. We need him for the next match as Jorginho is suspended. This may be a good opportunity also for CHO to start. He is a future world class player but he has to show a good decision making too. So far I think CHO has performed below expectation, below than what he showed last season. Normal as he just came back but certainly he has to do better.
I would also rotate Mount. We have to be careful of fatigue and potential injuries.
My team (3-4-3): Kepa – Azpi,Tomori,Zouma – James,Kanté,Jorginho,Emerson – CHO,Abraham,WillianNovember 4, 2019 at 10:35 pm #1797011
Don’t you think you are getting harsh on CHO? let us not forget that the boy has had a very serious injury only 6 months ago, and it took quality medical care, hardwork and determination for him to come back and still play a game. yet we are looking him to start the ground running already? i think we won’t see the best of CHO until at least January. he has not had a preseason also. so he is already behind the other players in terms of sharpness. once he gets his sharpness back. he will be a great player. it was only two weeks ago that everyone was lauding him for being man of the match against Newcastle and his assist against Southampton was out of this world. despite his condition he is one of our top assist kings. give him time to recreate what he has been doing before his injury. may be after that serious injury, it’s difficult to overcome from it psychologically.November 4, 2019 at 10:42 pm #1797012
Nine, is it possible to merge the two threads? Didnt know u had already started one as it wasnt on the CFC board yet.November 5, 2019 at 1:10 pm #1797193
Stuilse, No worries Mate it’s easily done I’ve done it myself.
I’ve tried to merge the threads but it’s just not working so I’ve taken the posts from that thread and pasted them on this one and deleted the other thread. Not perfect but I hope that’s ok with everyone. Cheers 9’sNovember 5, 2019 at 1:10 pm #1797194

May as well kick this thread off. Another close match I reckon. Three points would make us favourites to top the group although these days it doesn’t seem to make a difference. My Saffa boys ended up as runners up in their RWC group…yet had the easier run before obliterating England in the final. Had to mention that…😂
My starting team
Is Jorginho suspended for tomorrow night? If so then maybe stick Willian in midfield and play CHO out wide. Not sure if Lamps will risk starting Kante just yet.November 5, 2019 at 1:12 pm #1797195

no, Jorginho is suspended for the Palace match on the weekend to ensure he’s available for City the following match after the International break.November 5, 2019 at 1:32 pm #1797203
Marc van Hintum was technical director at Vitesse at the time Mount was there, and he’s told De Telegraaf just how highly he rates the player: “This is the best Chelsea player I have ever seen at Vitesse. Mason is so incredibly all-round. He can do everything and is extremely good in terms of mentality. I can’t really mention anything he is weak at.
“His completeness makes him exceptional. Even without a transfer ban for Chelsea, he would have one hundred percent for sure been in their first team.”November 5, 2019 at 1:36 pm #1797204
young_blue of course I took into account that CHO has been injured for so long. It won’t be easy to get back as quick as he is doing now. He is still 18, I think Chelsea will give any time he needs to develop and grow. I was just impressed on what Pulisic has showed us. Not only the hattrick, but he made intelligent runs, he shot, he had some headers. A bad match against Man Utd but otherwise he played intelligently. CHO made some assists but I think his decision making has to improve.
I think we need to play him more often too and with Pulisic already played 2-3 consecutive matches, tonight may be an opportunity for CHO. It won’t be an easy match for sure, and we are tied with Ajax with 6 points. If we win this, I think we will qualify !November 5, 2019 at 6:41 pm #1797268
Again, you have to realise that good decision making comes with experience. and experience comes with playing many games and maturity. so this guy is yet to have all of those to improve his decisions. Pulisic is 21 years old, he has played more than 150 games for Dortmund in 3 seasons, he has played in the CL, and he has also played more international matches than CHO, so that comparison is a little bit unfair in my opinion.November 5, 2019 at 7:06 pm #1797279
Agreed young_blue. CHO will need to get more games. And he won’t start tonight unfortunately, FL chose the same team (except Alonso):
(4-2-3-1): Kepa; Azpilicueta, Zouma, Tomori, Alonso; Jorginho, Kovacic; Willian, Mount, Pulisic; Abraham.
I cannot see the match. I will try to restraint myself not to check the score so that I can see the recording tonite.November 5, 2019 at 8:44 pm #1797308
Cannot resist to check internet. 1-3, are we playing bad? 2 own goals? Glad that so far Lille are leading Valencia. But hopefully we will come back stronger on the 2nd half and probably force a drawNovember 5, 2019 at 8:51 pm #1797310
Ajax have been good but as good as the crosses were that’s two fortunate og’s.
An early goal in the 2nd half for us and you never know but Ajax on tonight’s showing are probably the best team we’ve played all season.November 5, 2019 at 9:29 pm #1797323
Kepa at fault for 3rd goal. Their 4th was quality. We have pulled one back and as I type Blind is being sent off…2nd yellow. Fuck, Veldman now being sent off as well…2nd yellow. Ajax down to 9, both CBs off. Chelsea penalty…Jorginho nails his 2nd. Chelsea 3 Ajax 4. Game on.November 5, 2019 at 10:02 pm #1797333
Well it ended 4-4 and I thought that our 5th goal was disallowed rather harshly.November 5, 2019 at 10:03 pm #1797334
Fabulous team Ajax, best team we’ve played this season.
Great comeback keeps us in the hunt to qualify.
Brilliant game of football
Mount is potentially a big loss though looks like his ankle again.
I think Frank has to start playing Reece James now.November 5, 2019 at 10:21 pm #1797344
That game was mental and the ref was a mentalist.November 6, 2019 at 12:19 am #1797360
Only watched 10 min in which Azpi’s goal. Just watched the highlight. What a match. A fantastic come back. Unfortunate that Azpi’s goal was disallowed, Tammy’s hand was inactive. Ajax were lucky, their 1st and 3rd goal were pure luck.November 6, 2019 at 12:25 pm #1797505
Did not see the game last night but was following it on the BBC Sport App.
Could not believe the stats, when Ajax were 4-1 up they had only managed two shots on target!!!
Great spirit shown by the team and another massive experience for the young lads.
To date I am delighted with what I have seen from this team.
The biggest plus for me is it is so obvious that the team and backroom staff are working so hard to learn from and eradicate their mistakes.
I still am sticking with limited expectations for this season, but all the signs are pointing towards a club with the potential to be a dominant force for the years ahead!!
