I’m not expecting too much from this game but a reaction and a fighting performance is required even if we end up empty handed which is no disgrace against this City team.

I don’t think I will bother to see this match. I took a day off yesterday to watch the match on TV and I really was disappointed both with the result and the performance. For me the objective of the match against City is to give them hard time. I would expect a 0-2 result for City

my twitter tweet and the likes have gone crazy, as follows:

For the first time ever and in the interests of sanity and self preservation I will not be watching the City match live. I have decided to await the result which I will seek after the event finishes. No way will I risk watching a double figure mauling which is now possible.

My thoughts go back to a match I saw a few years back on 22 November 2009 that ended up Tottenham Hotspurs 9 Wigan Athletic 1 and Jermain Defoe got 5 of them.

chelsea1967: I don’t think we’ll lose 1-9 🙂 it’s possible but unlikely. I think we will lose max 0-3. Not more. I don’t think we have any chance to win neither though. It’s possible but unlikely. We were pathetic against Wolves. Can’t see how we can win against City. My hope is Kepa will perform wonder to make world class saves to prevent the likes of Sterling, Silva, Jesus or Sané scoring against us and the match will end 0-0

1967, we might get stuffed but it won’t be a thrashing like 9-1 we’re much better than that and I expect pride to kick in on Saturday we need to forget the result and hope for a performance that we can build on from there imo. I will be disappointed though if we don’t give it our all and don’t put in a performance though.

Aindro I didn’t think we were pathetic against Wolves we completely dominated the game until they scored and just didn’t put away our chances then we made a couple of defensive errors.

Team selection should be interesting. If it’s the usual Kepa, Azi, Luiz, Rudiger, Alonso, Jorg, Kante, Kovacic, Willian, Hazard and Morata…God help us. Can see City killing our defence and smashing us. I’d like Emerson, Cahill..for leadership purposes, Barkley, RLC and CHO to start……

I don’t know what to expect from this game. Its a stark contrast about the direction in which the two teams have taken since 2016/17 Season. We need reforms and we need rebuilding. If the senior players are making mistakes, and the young players are making mistake, i would rather have the 22 year olders making the mistakes, than the 31s, just to say one or two about Christensen. Just look at Stones, he was making mistakes earlier in his career at City. But his ability was undoubted. He got a world class coaching and is one if the best defenders in the league. Can we show like that patience and faith? I would play him in this game. Because we expect nothing from it. Play Hodson Odoi and Emerson also. Retain Loftus Cheek also. A 4-2-1-3 formation where Kante plays alongside Jorginho will limit more damage. And play Loftus Cheek further up the pitch.

Good point re Stones who seems to have sorted out his defensive woes and certainly Christensen doesn’t just go from quality defender to also ran overnight either. Anyone know who is responsible for coaching the centre backs? There was a trick missed by not bringing in JT on his retirement. Primarily I believe our defensive line is not being led by a JT type any longer and as a result the solidarity we are familiar with is missing. That with the new system and a mid field that doesn’t effectively protect the defence with Kante misused has created a nightmare. If that isn’t corrected immediately, and I mean before Saturday we will get walloped.

1967, Stones has taken a long time to settle at City and hasn’t played regularly in the PL as his total of only 55 appearances in the PL over 3 seasons confirms with only 18 appearances in City’s title winning season although to be fair he did have a couple of injuries last season too, Pep also had to deny rumours that he was looking to sell Stones. So it’s been a difficult ride for him in the same way it’s been a difficult ride for Christensen.

Good point re coaching the defence though and someone like JT would have helped enormously there.

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri: “At the moment we have no serious injuries and every player will be able to play. The match is very important and very difficult, against maybe the best team in Europe. We haven’t beaten them in a long period but anything can happen in a match.”

Season before last we took 6 points of them you forking muppet. At least get your facts right!!! One season/ 2 matches hardly qualifys as a long period!!!

City without Aguero is a bit of a plus. Obviously no De Bruyne yet either. We need all the help we can get.😊

we can get something out this game everyone is expecting City to run all over us so the pressure is on them esp. with Liverpool so close to them.

My feeling is that Sané won’t start either seeing he played full 90 minutes in their last matches. So it would be Sterling, Jesus, Mahrez IMO. Supported by Bernardo Silva, Fernandinho and probably Gundogan. I still expect us to lose even though we play home. City are simply too strong. Any point we can get from this match will already be a victory for me

I don’t have to pay attention to whoever City is missing. However i will be interested to see our team selection. Who between Loftus Cheek and Kovecic is selected. My money is on Sarri selecting Kovecic. Luiz will return, Jorginho will return. Interesting! Who between Willlian and Pedro gets the nod and who will lead our line? Those runs that Walker makes are very vital for City. Will Kante man mark D.Silva? Will Luiz be disciplined enough? Will Alonso cope with the Sterling pace? Several questions remain un answered.

Tenner on this one to a chelsea win. City dont ever outplay us, they kick us off the park and Eden will be hacked to death tomorrow.

Might put a cheeky bet on Luiz and Aguero to both be sent off. Its in their nature….

    And 999…. 😉

Unhelpful Roman and would be considered insulting by any City fan who happened to visit the Chelsea site.

Aguero wont start Roman so you’ll have to change the parameters for your cheeky tenner bet. City won’t need to kick Eden. They’ll dominate the game and the only thing they’ll be kicking is the back of the Chelsea net. Unless we up our game significantly there will be a massacre at the Bridge.
