A must win game and a good performance required in Potter’s first game.

Only Lucky and myself interested in tonight’s CL game?😊

Surprised no Fofana. Let’s hope the players approach the game in the right way and claim the win.

Must admit somewhat surprised and disappointed with the starting 11, well hope he has his reasons and whatever side hope it’s a win, in fact it’s a must win.

Shape of the team very similar to that discussed on our best team thread, 4 at back off the ball 3 at back on the ball. more numbers forward but frighteningly open at times to counter due to lack of pace and less numbers deep.

Not much to read into the game, shame we have the international break coming but don’t worry I am sure we will beat Palace on October 1st as its my birthday 😉

Big problem upfront nothing going, Aubameyung was completely useless and Broja missed a sitter or was it 2 as did Ziyech. Deserved a win though.

Another 5am start. Another sleep in lost. Starting to get way too used to this for my liking. Potter needs time with the squad and I can foresee the fruits of his work down the track. Just glad we have avoided Liverpool this weekend.

Look we not going to win the CL this season, we probably better off ending up 3rd and qualifing for the Europa. The team besides upfront didn’t play too badly but it was supposed to be a sure win. Tuchel wanted Aubameyang and he looked like a player that just started playing the game while Broja was not too far behind him. Boehly wanted Ronaldo and as much as I dislike the guy I can see why. We are hopeless upfront when it comes to clinical finishing or attempted shooting. I was even surprised Sterlings shot went in. I feel for Potter for what he has inherited as far as the striking department is concerned. I don’t see a solution for that right now.

I cannot understand why Potter started Aubameyang. Someone here mentioned before we were conned out with Cucurella and Koulibaly well Cucurella played very well but Aubameyang was a big mistake, and how can you start 2 centre halves with a combined age of 71 years against a super fast free running team? Retaining Azpliqueta was another mistake. The EPL and CL does not accommodate too many old players in the same team. The team that ended the game was a far better side. Anyone maybe have Potters number?

Disappointing result although I thought the overall performance and commitment of the team was much better not taking our chances continues to haunt us and unfortunately we conceded a goal to defensive lapses ending with the poor Silva tackle which was a shame for him because he had been outstanding up to then.

Interesting tactics from Potter more positive but Rome wasn’t built in a day and it’s going to take a bit of time to get us back to where we want to be.

A perfect tribute to the Queen at Stamford Bridge last night with Chelsea Pensioners laying wreaths an impromptu singing of the National Anthem and a perfect minutes silence where you couldn’t hear a pin drop.

In contrast to the unnecessary and disgraceful banners from Celtic fans on display in Poland which caused BT Sport to apologise for them it’s a shame the cameras picked them up and the press printed pictures of them they were best completely ignored.

I think our biggest problem for the last couple of seasons has been our finishing. I’m not sure how they address that, United have just recently appointed a coach purely for kicking. It’s a very important part of the game.

I am not sure what kind of message Potter wants to transmit by not starting our big buys in Fofana and Koulibaly. I hope it’s just a selection choice. But one would guess whether it was a mistake to buy those guys.

To Auba’s defense, he has played twice only for Chelsea. I think he needs time to gel. Like Lukaku before, he’s a proven goalscorer and even better: he’s proven it with a big team in the Premier League at Arsenal. But for other bad performers like Havertz or Ziyech or Pulisic, I think Potter should start to bench them. Make them know that they can’t perform like this. Chelsea need players who can perform at high standard all the time, not just at times. For me this is our problem since last time we won the league. No player can perform consistently. Cech, Cole, Terry, Carvalho, Essien, Makelele, Lampard, Drogba, Cahill, Mata, and even Matic, Courtois, Diego Costa: they were just so consistent throughout the year. And we have no such player at the moment, except Kanté when fit and I could say Azpi & Thiago Silva & Reece James. Others, they aren’t consistent, at times they are magnificent but at other times they are simply woeful.

I’m sure last nights team was picked with last night’s game in mind and Potter picked the team he thought could do a job against Salzburg from seeing the squad in a maximum of 4 days training.

From how Chelsea have been playing though last night was a big improvement just a shame we didn’t score the second goal and come away with a win.

Lucky, just a bigoted few buddie the people of Scotland more than demonstrated their love and respect for the Queen on her journey from Balmoral to Edinburgh.
