West Ham despite their current poor form is always likely to be a difficult game for Chelsea.

There may be no Tammy for this one and in all likelihood Michy will be expected to step up with probably another couple of changes too given the rigours of the midweek CL game v Valencia and we may well see returns for Mount, Emerson and Tomori too v West Ham.

This will be our most convincing home win to date. The West Ham that I saw last week were damn awful and Pellegrini is on the brink I reckon. 3-0 or 4-0.

I hope you’re right 67 but historically no games are easy following an away CL game West Ham have had a full week to prepare and they always raise their game v Chelsea.

Having said that you’re right if the West Ham that turned up last week v Spurs particularly in the first half turns up tomorrow and Chelsea are on or close to their potential we should win comfortably.

No derby is easy. And we will play without our striker Abraham. So I think this will be a tight match. I am not convinced of Michy nor Giroud. But if I could choose I would choose Giroud as his overall play is better than Michy as he can open up possibilities for other players to score. We won’t need speed neither here as WHU would play more defensively than us. We’ll have the possession. But the problem is that we have to score. We won possession against City, but we did not score more than them.

Their striker Haller is big and tough, for me he will be our main problem defensively. I would play 3-4-3 to maximize our attack. And I would play Alonso ahead of Emerson as we need more bodies here from set pieces. My team: Kepa – Tomori, Zouma, Azpi – James, Kovacic, Jorginho, Alonso – Mount, Giroud, Pulisic

Can’t see Kante not starting Aindro without he’s injured.

Frank on Tammy injury: “We will know by the end of the weekend, he won’t be available for tomorrow. It is a squad game, the lads have been training well and when opportunities come they are ready.”

But “There’s lots of pain” sounds a bit worrying.

999: I think against a team like West Ham, the duo Jorginho – Kovacic would be more fluent for us. They pass the ball well and the open up opportunities. Also we have succession of matches in December. Rotation is very important for fatigue and injuries. That’s why I think it’s important also to rotate Willian and to start Mason Mount back

Aindro, I agree we need fluency v West Ham which is why I think Mount will probably play in midfield. But let’s see.

The chances of Kante not pkaying are zero unless his injured, I would leave Jorginho out and start with 3 attacking midfielders, 4-2-3-1 with Giroud upfront if Tammy is out.

Blueowner: the problem of leaving out Jorginho, he is the one who makes our midfield fluent. His passes are of great quality, especially against a team who would play defensive. He may not be the best option against City or Valencia or Liverpool, against big teams he may not be suitable. But against (with all due respect) smaller teams: I think he is the one who dictates the rhythm.

999 agree, IMO Mount has to play here. He can shoot. There’s no way we play Jorginho-Kanté-Kovacic against West Ham. Mount has to be there. That’s why I think it’s Kanté we should leave out.

From what I’ve read so far: Michy will lead the line. Not Giroud.

Kante is on the bench, Giroud is starting. I did not see the possibility of Pedro starting but he is.

Frank rotating. Still a verv decent starting 11. I’d be shocked if we didn’t get all three points. City unexpectantly dropping points again. Seems 2nd place is very much up for grabs.

Be shocked Stuilise. They were simply awful. West Ham defended very well but Chelsea offered nothing. My prediction a mile off. I guess I didn’t take into account coming off the back of a tough trip to Valencia.

Not good enough today but injuries and a CL hangover probably played it’s part too. Easy to be wise after the event but perhaps Frank should have played Michy rather than Giroud although neither he or Giroud for different reasons are probably good enough for a Club with top 4 ambitions.

19 shots but only 6 on target versus West Ham’s 5 shots with 4 on target tells its own story this is not new and it pre dates Frank and is something Chelsea have to sort out if we are really going to progress.

Sweating on the Tammy injury now we could be in trouble if he’s out for a while.

I think this is our worst performance by far this season. Pedro was simply awful, Giroud offered nothing. We were rotating, which was a must do, but the team today was simply lacking cohesion and lacking energy. I think Azpi is still needed. His influence is vital for us. Really a sorry performance from us without Tammy. Everybody else beat West Ham home or away and we simply did not do that. I think we must be looking for a striker either this window (if transfer ban is lifted) or in the summer otherwise. I am wrong to have suggested to bench Kante. Unfortunately we lost a winnable match today but it can happen.

The full Frank quote on the West Ham game is worth reading.

It’s not down to one player,” Lampard said. “We didn’t have enough quality in the final third. My gripe this season is that we are not converting enough chances.

“Generally, collectively we could have handled that game better. This isn’t the worst thing for us as long as we react in the right way.”

Giroud’s inclusion was one of five changes to the side that had drawn 2-2 in the Mestalla on Wednesday night, but while several fringe players missed out on the chance to impress, Lampard defended his decision to rotate.

“Tammy was enforced,” he added. “At the same time I have to think about the squad and when we have a taxing game, I have to think about how fresh we are right now. When we had a really taxing game where we give everything physically and arrive back late, I have to think about how fresh we can be.

“We’re not going to get through this season with the same 10 or 11 players.”

Lampard made a massive mistake in playing 2 players who haven’t kicked a ball in this team in a couple of months.
