Simply not good enough. at some point Frank has ti realise that Christensen is not the kind of a cb that should be the first choice of Cfc going forward. and tonight’s performance have highlighted that. since his reintrodtion to the team we have been conceding an average of two goals a game with the exception of Burnley game. so i don’t know what Frank sees in him.

Bayern have out run us in the middle, and it took 2 goals to concede for Frank to realise that. so tonight he has been very poor. Mount has had a bad day in the office and Frank should have taken him off rather than Giroud. we need a defensive minded midfielder to play infront of our back four. especiallu when we are playing against the top teams.

I’m worried about how we will approach against Bournemouth game granted they will sit back and try to frustrate us. so i don’t know how we will approach with the rate at which we are making mistakes.

Reality is that whoever Frank selected tonight this game was going to be a Bridge too far Bayern are just too good for us currently all over the pitch.

First half we were not that bad methink. Alonso could have scored. Mount too. They had their chances as well but IMO the first half could have gone any ways. Kovacic was superb. Mount and Giroud were good. Willy was good. 2nd half was completely another story, 2 goals in space of some minutes from them and it killed us. Barkley missed (shot directly at Neuer after Mount opened up the space) was costly.

Barkley did not do anything for quite long time and FL should have replaced him with a speedy player way earlier. Our weakest link today was Barkley IMO. I think we can safely say that this tie is lost. We won’t be able to win 3-0 there. Bayern have too much quality for us. Now let’s concentrate on the Premier League.

Just because the team did so well against Spurs does not mean you select the exact same team and tactics if u can even call it tactics, this is where Lampard keeps going wrong, Bayern is a totally different cup of tea so u need to employ different methods, also we have a serious problem with our defence from our keepers to our centre halves and defensively our full backs as well. We have to be honest we are not going to make the top 4 unless there’s a shift of the minds of management and a massive improvement by the players and of course it’s going to be extremely difficult to bring in better players without CL. Real pity I could have used a good pickmeup.

Strangely enough last night’s game may have done us all a favour because everyone from Roman down now knows the true size of the task to get us back competing with the very best again.

Last 16 was always imo the best we could hope for currently, the transfer ban following the loss of Hazard has left us short of quslity and the recent injuries to Kante, Pulisic, Hudson Odoi and Abraham as well as the almost season long injury to Loftus Cheek has just added to that at a vital stage of the season.

Roman and the Board now know the size of the task to try and get us back to where we want to be.

Ziyech can only be the start and we need to sign another 3 or 4 top quality players in the Summer window and for Frank to be given the backing and time he needs.

I don’t get all this pointing the finger at Frank re tactics and team selection our options were limited last night and whatever the tactics and team selected and Frank’s options were limited you have to have the ball and Bayern were brilliant at retaining possession nobody else not even Liverpool have dominated us in possession at home like Bayern did which was down to the better quality of their players over ours who were to a man all better than ours and sometimes you’ve got to hold your hand up and accept that.

The squad lacks quality due to all of the circumstances and Frank’s options were limited last night given the recent injuries to the recent injuries to Kante, Pulisic, Hudson Odoi and Abraham as well as the almost season long injury to Loftus Cheek.

Whatever tactics and team selection Frank employed last night the result would have been the same we can talk about the chances we had and there were a few but that’s been the story of our season but we shouldn’t forget all the chances Bayern had before they scored either.

We were beaten last night by a far far better team and it tells us how far we need to go to be able to compete with teams like Bayern again.

The worries now are the 2nd leg and what this defeat/defeats might do to our season Bournemouth away is a massive test now.

I dont believe that Bayern’s team of last night was one of their better teams from over the more recent years, can’t really think of anyone in their team that would improve Chelsea that much, personally where I don’t agree with Frank’s selections is Christiansen and Apliqueta, for me they prone to not adequately marking opposing forwards while Rudiger is not quite the same player he was before his long term injury. Wheres Zuma and Tomori nowadays. I’m also not a fan of Jorginho, Gilmour could do a better job, while Abraham is badly off form reminded me of Wilder falling all over the show. Can’t wait for the likes of Pulisic and Loftus Cheek to come back as well. Maybe its hindsight but a 4-3-3 would have been a far better formation for this particular game. Anyway we March on knowing there’s no such thing as an easy gsme.

The gulf in class was there to see. The biggest issue we had was that we had no pace to really hit Bayern with. They pressed up so high, knowing that we had no pace up front.

Lampard was kind of forced to play 3-4-3 and run the risk of our 2 man midfield getting over run by Bayerns midfield 3 because of the Kante injury.

We were never going to win the CL with this group and we will be heading out to a decent Bayern team. We had some good chances and got in to great positions. The positive is that all our younger players got a taste of high quality football.

Let’s continue the good work in the league and secure 4th spot so that when we play in the CL next season, we will be there challenging rather than just a number.

Blaze are you crazy? Neuer, Boateng, Kimmich, Lewandowski, Alaba, Alcantara, Davies would all walk in to our team

BlueOwner if you think Chelsea could have beaten Bayern, you are very much mistaken.

Everyone here at the start of the season said it would be a miracle if Chelsea finish 4th. Currently we are 4th…

We are building a great platform for success, some of our youngsters will kick on and become great, some may just be a good squad player. We have signed a quality player in Ziyech next season who will transform us, and we will be pulling out all the stops to sign 2 of 3 high quality players that we need. This season is a great test for Lampard, first season in Premier League and Champions League as a manager. I’d rather he learnt from mistakes in a season where there was no expectations, than in a season with high expectations

9 & Amz completely agree with you. We need to be very honest with ourselves and accept that we are streets behind Bayern, doesn’t matter what formation or team selection we picked last night, we´re just not good enough.

You wouldn’t see a single 1 of our players last night getting into their starting team, that’s just the reality of where we are at the moment. I think we’re going in a great direction but we cant expect miracles, we’re a work in progress and patience is the key.

One apparent problem with this team compared to our previous teams who had successes: lack of finishing. Had we converted our chances, we would have had a better chance for the 2nd leg. I think nobody is under the impression that we can beat Bayern, including me who was pretty optimistic compared to usual. (How wrong I was!!). We did create chances yet 0 finish. For an open and attacking team that Frank Lampard is building, we must score. We aren’t a team that parks the bus anymore, like Mou’s era. If we cannot score, the opponent would outscore us as our defense is not as robust as before.

We clearly are lacking of goalscorer. How blessed we were having Drogba and Lampard. And even the defenders scored a lot at that time: Terry, Ivanovic… No doubt we are in the right direction though. We did not play that bad yesterday. Just we cannot compare Giroud to Lewandowski. They also had Coman who was good. And the Canadian Alphonso Davies: he is 19 years old!

To be honest, it has always been very difficult for us. and Frank couldn’t do anything because his hand was forced. and when you have Jorginho and Christensen as your cm and cb, you are already playing catch up, because Christensen won’t win you duels and Jorginho won’t win you the ball back. also Rudiger had a terrible game last night. worst i have seen him play since he has joined Chelsea.

Interesting that Arsene Wenger has pointed that, once Chelsea lost the battle in midfield, it was a matter of when Bayern will score and not if. i would also hate to admit, but i see Frank as a one trick pony manager like Sarri. because it took him longer for him to respond to Bayern’s pressure in the middle. while we have made some progress in certain areas, but we have along way to go. let us see how the team reacts against Bournemouth.

The perfect summary from you Luigi imo.

Funny thing is that had Frank changed the line up and formation following the Spurs game everyone would have criticised him both pre and post the game.

Fact is Frank’s choices were limited due to the injuries but even without the injuries whoever Frank selected in whatever formation this Bayern side would almost certainly been too good for us..

Sometimes we have to hold our hands up and admit we’ve been beaten by a much better team. At least we know how far we have to go now to compete in the CL at this level.

Well, there was nothing like superiority in the first half. the constest was even with both teams having their chances. and in the second half we have had a total collapse which has been very reminicent to our recent collapses in the second half. and that is what is worrying me more than the result.

Bayern had been on top for much of the first-half as well with Blues keeper Willy Caballero, making his first Champions League appearance in almost three years, saving from Lewandowski on more than one occasion and Thomas Muller hitting the bar with a back-header.”

See the above match report Chelseaman it was just a matter of time.

Did I just read that noone from that Bayern outfit…who incidentally gave us a royal humping…would really improve our squad. Seriously!! Sweet mother of baby Jesus, what game were u watching. Reality…Kante aside, who wasn’t even available, not one Chelsea player would make their starting 11. Bayern were breathtakingly brilliant yesterday as we as bone-chillingly clinical. They will probably win the CL. Not even Liverpool could have lived with them last night. Only complaints I have were Barkley starting..should have been Willian and the complete omission of Tomori. Anyone know what’s happening with him?
