We are on a good run, and there were no fresh injuries reported during the international break. There are also reports that state Reece James is fit and only Hodson Odoi and Ben Chilwell are not fit. Thomas Tuchel has also been bullish about the futures of Rudiger and Azpi. He has also confirmed the reports that Azpi has triggered a one year contract in his contract for making a certain number of appearances.

My preferred team is 3-4-3: Mendy, Azpi- Silva – Rudiger, Reece James – Kante – Kovacic – Alonso, Ziyech, – Lukaku – Mount.

I wouldn’t want us to deploy that defensive formation of five at the back, especially when we know our opponents of the day will come and sit back and defend with ten men behind the ball. Instead, I will continue with the back 4 formations that have brought the best out of our attacking players like Ziyech, Pulisic and Mount. Ditch this back five if we play the back 5 formation we will have a hard time breaking them down.

Why not unleash attacking full-backs in Reece James and Alonso? and play ball-playing centre backs in Silva and Rudiger? I agree with you on your midfield pairings of Kante and Kovacic. I would play 4-2-3-1 with Ziyech and Pulisic on either side of Mount in that no 10 role, in which Kante and Kovacic sitting. Ok, I would reluctantly retain Lukaku because of his freshness and maybe he has scored In our last game.

Can’t understand why we would need to play 5 defenders against such a team, you can call them wingbacks but they still defenders. We don’t have goal scorers so you need as many forwards as possible to play.

Hopefully both Alonso and particularly Reece James will be fit to start.

Tuchel does what he wants in selection and formation and I, like most have full confidence in his decisions gaining Chelsea the desired result as well as entertaining the masses. Certainly there have been matches where his starting line up has not worked particularly well and each time he has made the appropriate changes to correct the situation but that can happen to any manager at any club. Hasn’t Tuchel deployed a back 4 more recently? I just hope the activities against Ricketts as the players come out on to the pitch doesn’t unsettle them or their focus on the job at hand. A little wary of Eriksen’s impact on the match as the emotion surrounding his return rightfully continues.

I was reading that the protests are at 12:30 pm UK time, and the game kicks off at 5 pm, I’m not sure if that can have any negative impact on the player’s state of mind, but I understand that something has to be done before it’s too late. As for the selection, I don’t think Pulisic will play, because he has only returned on late Thursday. And I don’t think Reece James will start in this game, especially when we have Real Madrid in midweek.

An interesting article leading into this match. I hadn’t seen the interview prior to reading this.

I think Tuchel has had weeks he has worked with some of his squad. My guess is, Jorginho will start the game of the bench, because of the Brentford physicality, and I don’t think Reece James will play.

It’s 4-3-3 ladies and gentlemen. Alonso As a LB al is a concern for me, but i trust Tuchel anyway. Both Jorginho and Kovacic on the bech with Loftus Cheek and Mount either side of Kante. And the front 3 are also intresting. Ziyech was always expected to start, but Werner is a surprise starter. And King Kai is starting. Let us hope the players are focused.

I like the team except for Werner but maybe he will surprise us today, this would have been an idle type of game for Lukaku. Hope it goes well.

It has been a poor first half, Werner and Havertz in particular are poor. Plus Kante is limping. I hope Tuchel introduces Kovacic and Lukaku at half time. We need to gain control in midfield. Plus move Mount on the left wing. Or an alternative will be Kante for Reece James and we move to 3-5-2 with Havertz and Lukaku up top, Ziyech ib behind.

Every time Tuchel dicks about with the formation we either lose or draw.

Embarrassing today. Alonso is not a fullback, Mount is never as effective playing so deep. Werner is not good enough for the prem.

We had the players on the bench to win that game today.

Awful team selection and a formation that does not play to our strengths.

Not the result we need at the start of a particularly busy month.

Two days prep to play a new formation, what the hell was he thinking.

    Fault lies totally with Tuchel.

It’s not a new formation NI we have played like this recently but the choice of players was far from ideal.

Alonso is always a liability in a back 4, Ruben is not disciplined enough to effectively anchor our midfield and werner should not start in any system.

Brentford played 2 up top which was always going to give is trouble leaving only 2 back at times but it was their counters from set plays when our defenders were forward that looked most dangerous.

The best aspect of playing back 3 is that we are much safer when the ball is lost with 3 players back but with just 2 and full backs as slow as alonso and azpi we are always at risk of results like this against any prem team.

Very poor performance, I agree with NI that tuchel takes some blame today and he won’t be happy with himself or the team.

Nine, we will be much better on Wednesday for sure bud.

As soon as rudi scored he and everyone else celebrated like we had 3 points in the bag, 5 mins later we are losing!

Great strike from rudi but defensively he and everyone else were awful from the second he scored.

It has been embarrassing game to watch, and the signs we already there, but our coach ignored them. Now we will be looking over our shoulders now nervously. That team selection has been the worst by any Chelsea boss. I really don’t know how he will lift that team on Wednesday. Or may be he wants jump ship now that Roman is no more there🤔? Tough days ahead!

Why oh why does Tuchel keep selecting Alonso and Werner, it’s virtually the same as playing with 9 men. I’m too upset to say anything further as If I haven’t got enough on my mind as it is, thanks.
