Players can be bad for one or two seasons and then come good. i don’t know what you have seen in Barkley that promted you to make your mind about Barkley. but for me i would give him thw benefit of doubt.

A lot of those posters were saying that because we couldn’t buy anyone and had to believe that the players (centre backs in this case) were good enough. At the end of the as a fan/poster you have to give the players the benefit of the doubt and time to prove themselves only then can you write someone off.

On Barkley. He has had more than just 2 good games. I’ve always rated Barkley since he broke through at Everton and he clearly has a lot of talent.

In the 2.1 seasons he has been at Chelsea he’s had 3 different managers and bunch of injuries which probably hasn’t helped him settle in and find his rhythm. He also came to us from Everton having been out for 4-6 months, so severely lacking match time. In fact he only played 4 games in his first half a season with us. Roughly out of the 75-85 Premier League games he could have played in to date he has only made 42 appearances. He’s missed around 50% of them.

As I said I want him to try continue this form and then give him 1 more season and season to push on.

As everyone seems to think maybe the best performance of the season so far and once everyone is fit Frank is going to have to pick a team from all this talented bunch, if he brings in more new signings some will have to go. I thought Mount, Barkley and Pedro were outstanding while Gilmour has done more than enough to retain his place, his changed the whole tempo of the way the team plays. Anyone know why Loftus Cheek wasn’t even on the bench?

Blueowner, good post as you suggest once every one is fit Frank has decisions to make as well as some big decisions in the Summer too as to who stays who goes and who comes in.

I suspect Loftus Cheek wasn’t included in the squad v Everton because he played a full game on Friday in a behind closed doors friendly. Hopefully that’s the only reason.

The inclusion of Billy Gilmour together with how well he’s played seems to have lifted the whole team.
