Brilliant performance and result today, unlucky not to have won that by more goals. All the lads that came into the team today played out of their skins, if we can keep performing like that we’ll finish top 4 no problem.

Cant believe we’ve been shafted by VAR on blatant red cards twice in a week, shambles of a process!

A great relief to win, Alonso is a good wing back and Giroud has always had qualities. Those two were instrumental in our win. I did not like the amount of passing back we did or the times we were caught dwelling on the ball, but I think that was partly explained by Spurs keeping five at the back which made it difficult to find our forwards.

I think this win will help our confidence. Do we keep Giroud in against Bayern???

Just what the doctor ordered after Monday night. Great result, great performance but I would not be getting carried away with the tactical bit.

Yet again I was impressed with Barkley …. and he gets two assists with two other out of favour players!!!

Jose walks down the tunnel without shaking Frank’s outstretched hand this is not unfamiliar territory to Jose but Frank was one of his greatest players. Sad!

Do we keep Giroud in against Bayern??? Good question Alan personally I would be tempted to. Looks like Willy is in to stay possibly until the end of the season Willy’s extra height and physicality helps him imo.

Would def start with Giroud. Wont do Tammy a button of harm to have to fight for his place. I would keep Barkley in as well!!

I have just run a few stats on the Win/Draw/Lose ratio for games played with and without Barkley and Kante!!!

Let’s just say wow bit of a shock!!

The fact that Frank is the first Manager to win home and away League games v Jose in Jose’s whole career probably says more about Jose than it does Frank.

It might explain though why Jose was so miffed that he ignored Frank’s outstretched hand at the Final whistle and went straight down the tunnel.

Sorry 9 but MoTD cleary shows Jose and Frank cupping hands as opposed to the traditional handshake not long after the final whistle, albeit closer to the pitch than the tunnel.

NI, pleased to hear that mate I’ve not seen MOTD yet and the clips on the internet all suggested they didn’t. I’m pleased if they got it wrong. Cheers 9’s

Not the greatest performance but this is what we need: winning when playing bad. Alonso showed again that he is really good in attack (1 shot narrowly too high, 1 goal and 1 post). Giroud took his chances well but fading later on. Barkley was amazing at the beginning but where was he later on. I am really happy with the win, it was not a great performance but we dominated. Spurs were really bad. I think they must have started to regret why they replaced Poch with Mou. My MoM is Alonso, but Mount worked very hard too. And so did Jorginho (I do not even like him but he recovered a lot of balls today). And Willy Caballero, he is more reliable than Kepa. No stupid mistake since he started in the starting 11.

Leicester lost so the distance is 6. It’s still possible but we must not lose points against lesser teams. (Bournemouth next Saturday, not in a great form they are)

Should Giroud start against Bayern, I think he should. His physical presence is really useful. I would start Willian who is fresh against Bayern too. I cannot see Kepa starting as Caballero hasn’t made grave mistake yet.

Very important result and 3 points today while not rapped in the performance. Alonso showed what we have been missing adding huge value going forward and a cracking goal.

Not looking forward to Bayern mid week. That may well be damage limitation and not much else. We are certainly not up to playing them in a two legged Champions League tie at this point in time. I’d love them to prove me wrong mind you.

Cundy’s reaction to the stomp. We cannot all be wrong!! That’s two in a week that had to go and didn’t, what with Maguire on Monday and now this one. Did they admit they got that Maguire one wrong too? Disgraceful.

Great result and especially with so many players still out, tho I must say I was not impressed with the Spurs team Mou selected, he already lost Son and Kane and yet still leaves out Ali and Lamela

That defence stood its ground yesterday. although the weaklink was Christensen. and he has done ok. the defence was also lacking protection yesterday. because Jorginho is more like a play maker than a defensive midfielder. if that defence gets a proper protection it will improve. Also Mount was on a different class yesterday, pressing Spurs from the from and forcing them into errors.

Would be very interesting that Mourinho claimed he has had an advance knowledge of the team that Frank will select. but still lost to him? that says more about Frank’s ability than Mourinho’s cleverness.

Just play the same team against Bayern plz. that team has everything in it. and and our players would benefit competition for places.

Bayern are a whole different ball game and a much much more difficult game I suspect Frank will want to add a few fresh legs if he can. I would be tempted to start Giroud with Tammy on the bench to come on I think Willian will start ahead of Barkley but we’ll see. More big calls for Frank to make.

Hopefully we’ll keep it to below 7.😊

This is from CFC website: https://www.chelseafc.com/en/news/2020/02/23/chelsea-transfer-news–hakim-ziyech-agrees-personal-terms

About Bayern, I think they are a perfect opponent for us. We won’t be able to face Barca or Juve, they will eat us alive. Bayern while very good, we have a good record against them. Frank Lampard as a player had a good record against them. They key will be to man mark Lewandowski and by not giving them any room. I am hoping we can pull out some surprises in the UCL.

Looking at Spurs, I don’t think they are our biggest contender for the 4th spot. They lost Kane and Son and basically they lost their goal sources. Man Utd are much more dangerous than Spurs. They bought expensive in Bruno Fernandes and it already bears fruits.

I have to be honest based on the teams we dropped points against in particular at home I cannot see us getting that 4th place, we cannot rely on 5th place as City will definitely appeal if they haven’t already and get their ban lifted even if temporarily. Other teams we in contention with like United, Spurs and Arsenal are all being positively assisted by officials and var not to mention good luck, how many times this season alone have we hit the woodwork or have decisions gone against us. I would love it if we make the top 4 and those teams dont, I think the current other 3 clubs in the top 3 will make it even City who I expect to have their ban overturned. For us to qualify we have to stop conceding goals it’s our biggest problem. I don’t know what the answer is to our defences is cause Lampard has tried everything and the only one that has really done good is Reece James. Probably Rudiger is also a definite choice, Would definitely continue to play Alonso as he is a goal threat despite his other liabilities so its difficult for management to decide what’s the best team to win.
