Tough game especially as the luck seems to be going heavily for them this season, this is the reason why it’s so critical to win all our home games I would say a home draw against City and to a lesser extent Liverpool are the only acceptable home draws. We had a bit of luck in our first couple of games but that appears to have dried up, still I think we can beat Spurs they too reliant on a couple of players and their current good luck cannot also last.
November 16, 2018 at 8:01 am #1698347The only problem with your assessment and thread heading being that the game is a Spurs home match. Having said that I still reckon we can win.
November 16, 2018 at 8:13 am #1698349I’d suggest we start Olivier. He loves Wembley.
November 16, 2018 at 8:17 am #16983511967 I did have it originally Spurs first but I switched it around being a Chelsea fan, Not too sure if I should have.
November 16, 2018 at 8:46 am #1698356Blueowner, hope you don’t mind but I’ve switched it around as we are away which of course makes it an even tougher game.
November 16, 2018 at 9:28 am #1698381Not at all 9 I wasn’t sure about that, but yes it’s a very tough game and also they are on a very good fortune spell as well. Hopefully their recent good luck will end next Saturday.
November 16, 2018 at 9:33 am #1698387BO its not only Spurs but also all our top rivals except City that have had the ball rolling for them this season
November 16, 2018 at 12:42 pm #1698455As I have stated on other threads, IMO, Spurs have been lucky and grinding out results (and some would say that is a sign of a good team) but they are not flowing as you would expect them to. Nevertheless, a tough game which I assume they will be up for and looking to try and build a decent run against us
We will have to be on top of our game and we will need to be clinical with the chances that I am quite sure we will create. For me (and not wanting to harp on about this) but this is exactly the type of game where I would normally want to see Kante patrolling the middle. However, if he does play the more advanced role then potentially that gives players like Dembele an issue as does he track him or not…?
Will comment again nearer the time after seeing how the players return from international duty and whether we have picked up any injuries or not. But if we play to our full capability then certainly a game where we can take all 3 points. KTBFFH
November 16, 2018 at 1:54 pm #16984761905… that for me is the crux of the argument for me. Spurs ain’t got going and right are up the ladder in the mix. When they do get it right they’re pretty tidy. Kane always likes facing us.
4 goals 2 assists from 9 games. Not so lucky with results though…
Fingers crossed everyone returns from international duty.
November 16, 2018 at 2:45 pm #1698496Kane is definitely not lucky his a great striker but the Spurs team on the whole have been lucky in many games.
November 16, 2018 at 3:13 pm #1698500If we play at our best and Spurs play at their best we will win. Be a helluva game then though!😊
If we don’t play at our best/ close to our best we could well be in trouble.
November 16, 2018 at 3:29 pm #1698506I think we are luckier than Spurs when it comes to nicking points this season, Spurs have a good balance and a very good striker in Kane. This game will come down to which team will take their chances. am not too optimistic to be honest and i believe whoever scores first might end up winning it. we might taste our first inevitable defeat of the season am afraid.
November 16, 2018 at 3:29 pm #1698507I think Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante have to start this one to keep our midfield solid and then Barkley enters later if needed. I would love Sarri to pull the Mertens trick out for this game and play Hazard in the middle with Willian left and Pedro right.
November 16, 2018 at 6:11 pm #1698521It will be a tough match, but IMO it’s not impossible for us to win this. Spurs are good, solid, but they are in similar situation to us than to City or to Liverpool. They don’t have a super squad like City or Pool. Take away Alli, Kane, Eriksen: they will be average. We always have difficulty lately against Spurs with Conte’s system. I am honestly more optimistic now with Sarri, at least for the match against Spurs, that we will be more able to match them. Spurs thrived against us with Conte’s system. But I think not anymore as Sarri plays short passings instead of long ones. I would also start Giroud over Morata flanked by Hazard and Willian.
Dunno why, but I have a good feeling for this match as long as our squad stays healthy after the international matches. I would predict our victory this time. 1-2 for us.
November 16, 2018 at 9:55 pm #1698549Aindro, got to say agree largely with your post mate. For me ali is the king maker in the spurs side. Kane looks more pedestrian when he’s not in the side. I’d argue the same for Ericksen. Ali was back the last game and likes to play us.
They have threat. Won’t be surprised to see borts suggested midfield three.
November 17, 2018 at 8:56 am #1698566I would definitely go with Borts midfield three and assuming no injuries I think we will.
November 18, 2018 at 3:10 pm #1698835Kovacic has unfortunately picked up a minor muscle injury so wasn’t available for selection for Croatia v England today hopefully he’s returned to Chelsea and we can spend a week getting him fit for the Spurs game.
November 18, 2018 at 4:09 pm #1698847Nervous bout this one, they are organised and patient, a clever team who have the ability to take advantage of our flaws as a team, it will be a hell of a confidence boost if we win.
November 18, 2018 at 5:01 pm #1698865We will smash this one, no problem. The Spuds are not at our level.
November 18, 2018 at 6:01 pm #1698881Hope so ash, because the very opposite was true last year. Like nine said if we are at our best we should win I believe that.
