FFP was brought in to protect the elite few in europe. Leeds spent money they didn’t have, city spent money they weren’t supposed to use. What Leeds did is far more irresponsible than what City are doing. Call them cheats all you want, FFP is bollocks and should be scrapped. It wasn’t brought in to prevent another Leeds happening, it was brought in to protect the status quo in football.
Kopite – it’s not irrelevant if you are smart enough to see the wood for the trees. FFP is BS, and I couldn’t care less if is enforced or not. It was brought in on the premise it promoted fiscal responsibility, but in actual fact it was brought in to preserve the elite clubs. How else would City have closed the gap without spending a truck load of cash? they were never going to be able to establish the revenue streams required, so why shouldn’t they be able to rely on a willing sugar daddy? The only ethical criticism of them is they broke Uefas batshit rules, nothing else.
After all the theoretical supposition, rumours, press bullshit and diatribes by the few rival club supporters that are still left on here, it would at least be refreshing to hear from a Man City fan.
Unfortunately the last one checked out 1 year 9 months ago and never came back. All this criticism is all very well but it’s only one way traffic, and that’s a bit sad.
