Klopp made game changing mistakes in both games. Playing Naby in the first leg and tbh we didn’t even look prepared for them with no one closing them down or covering their midfielders. The team had absolutely no shape or communication at all because the captain on the night wasn’t doing what he was supposed to be doing. I find that quite shocking for a game of this level, especially after the time we had to prepare. I also think the fear of the ref in Madrid stopped us from making any challenges with proper conviction, like in the 2nd leg.
In the 2nd game, Milner was clearly a game changer but he was hooked, along with Ozan and again a fucking midfielder was moved to defence while leaving the disinterested Wijnaldum in a midfield 2 which cost us the control of the game that we had for 60mins or so. I think it all falls squarely at the tactics. The poor finishing in the 2nd leg was 1 thing but we should never have showed up to Madrid in that state in the first place.
