That Gabbiadini looks a steal for 14 million from Napoli – scoring goals already

A new left-back: Ryan Bertrand (even though he’s 27 years of age)?

    Another winger: Nathan Redmond

An alternative left-sided player: Dusan Tadic

And of course a player being linked with us: Virgil van Dijk

Not a bad shop-window to be fair.

Sanj, admittedly, I never even hear of Gabbiadini.

It makes me wonder though mate, if we can’t have the Zlatan’s of this world, the I’m assuming this is the expectation from FSG on JK to pluck out these type of finds.

Last summer was an emphasis on clearing lots of dead wood, so I’m confident, we’ll be seeing new faces. Lucas is likely to movel, Sakho’s definitely yesterday’s news, so I wouldn’t bet against enquiries made on any of those names listed above.

    Cheers

Guys there’s loads of good players out there. Whilst these players are good at Southampton they may not necessarily be the answer for us (Virgil aside). Lovren for example and even Lallana when he first arrived (and to be fair I want to see him repeat his recent form over a couple of seasons first).

I think we will be fine and Klopp will get the right players for us and first teamers at that (not players who are arguably similar to what we have).

Bob, morning mate, you’re right of course Klopp will be looking to fish in a much bigger pond than just the Southampton pond.

Although I’m sure Van Dijk has come up in conversations if he goes the suggestion is that it will be for circa £60m and even if Klopp is prepared to invest that level of money in a defender he would still probably face strong competition from a number of the top clubs for Van Dijk.

I think it’s going to be a very competitive and interesting summer transfer window. Cheers 999

Bob, naturally we’d be looking beyond Southampton and this was just one suggestion.

Obviously, it be great to bring in a couple of Superstar names or a marquee players, but the example of Gabbiadini proved there are so called ‘unknowns’ out there that can be plucked out and slot in perfectly into another outfit altogether.

I do like how Southampton have put together their team. You’re absolutely right though, we don’t have to restrict ourselves and be put off by competition.

Nil – The problem is if we sign these players everyone moans that they are not a big enough name, and I am sure you would be one of them.
