Has anyone seen Ian lately? did he just give up on TT? or maybe he’s not interested in the summer nonsense.

So far on footy, I see hightown, Aussie, Mawake. I saw a Sean there but I think he was a Utd supporter.

if you lads pick names that are vastly different to yer ones here you might say so.

So, I guess the new forum will see the return of Nil. BUM BUM BUUMMMM

I’ve jumped in as well but not really a regular poster. This site doesn’t deserve the custom so hopefully the other one kicks off!

Well, actually I inputted my details and it didn’t send me an email, then when I tried to re register it wouldn’t let me. I then attempted to send an email as a failed registration and it said that my email address isn’t valid. Tech issues there also or maybe they’ve been warned not to accpet me!

Hope you get that sorted Bofa, i didnt have any problems and the infrastructure used are going to be standard forms/systems for wordpress/PHP web dev. so it’s likely a fluke but. . keep us posted.

As for Coutinho, I find it laughable that Barca’s 2nd offer is £90m. before I’d be worried about their bids but that’s laughable and pathetic, good luck to them in their future ventures 😉

Sorted Mr Mak, cheers, I’m om the other one. In fairness, the editor spotted the issue as I had to change username to get in. He changed it back to bofa as opposed to bofa1. Could have been user issues. Wouldn’t be the first time!

£90 million is laughable, mainly in the context of what we’ve seen of late namely Pogba, Lukaku and of course, Neymar. It’s defintely a case of taking the piss after what they’ve just received for Neymar.

I’ve seen a few of your posts of late and I share your concerns regarding the transfers. I know plenty on here are hopeful but we’re leaving an enormous amount to chance without getting a centre half, a centre midfielder and at least one more attacking player all capable of making a first eleven. Very worried but still time left.

Coutinho is worth £120 million if Neymar went for £200 million. Barcelona are trying to get him cheap.

£120m? The 2nd best player in the PL is only worth 2 Van Dijks? Coutinho is on his way to becoming a world class player. if he wasnt injured last season, i think he’d be there now TBH. In comparison to neymar, I’m not even totally happy with the £150m that I’m quoting but given how little we’ve paid him over the years and how he’s “only” on £150k/week now, I would say that we’ve already made a fair few million off the savings.

the thing is, Coutinho is currently extremely important for us but he’s blown up in Brazil as an icon. This is worth money to us because they apparently watch the PL there now.it isn’t just jerseys but it’s image and Coutinho is on his way to being THE Brazilian icon. He is buddies with Neymar but he’s competing with him in regards to image. In this day and age, that image is worth insane amounts of money.

What annoys me about this though is that Liverpool under Klopp, is also becoming something special. The PL money fortifies us and gives us financial clout and staying power which will likely see off these silly bids from Barca but in the long term, I still have a faint hope that we can keep Coutinho because of where we are returning to in the world of football.

I’m a little disappointed that he’s had his head turned so easily and I’m hoping that he’ll see sense. there is no loyalty in this game but if you look at the greats, they were the ones who gave it all for the shirts they wore. The choice is his. He can be another brick in the wall at sunny Barca, or he can be a part of another great Liverpool team and go down in history. it must really piss off Gerrard to see Klopp at the club now when he can’t play, only for one player to actually think that the grass is greener somewhere else. it is all about perspective but whatever about anything else, it’s too late in this window now so, he can stay or go next summer. We’ve lost great players before but that won’t stop the Klopp!

Coutinho definitely owes Liverpool something even more than Saurez did when he stayed on for a year. When Saurez came to Liverpool he was already a semi-well known name player. He was the first choice for Uraguay and was Ajax’s main player.

Coutinho on the other-hand was a young potential who nobody had heard of and he could have easily slipped into relative obscurity like other young hopefuls like Barcelona’s Bojan (remember him?). Liverpool gave him a chance and was patient with his development, even when he had (and still has) dips in performances.

For him to go now at this late stage before the season starts before he has given us one full season of consistent performances would be a little galling. He should at least do what Saurez at least did and give us his all for himself and the club and then if he still wants to go then we should try to get as much as we can for him. I have a feeling that if we can better our 4th place and have a decent run in the CL that he might not even bother with Barca. Despite the 200m Barca are in the middle of a in a mini rebuilding job most of their good players are near or over 30 and also Barcelona is an unforgiving place, one bad game and they are whistling and booing. IS he ready for that? I seem to remember Coutinho being dragged off by Kloop for Woodburn last year. On his day he is a world beater but consistency is his achilles heel.

Bofa, I appreciate that as I feel others on here may (potentially rightly) have seen my pretty alarmist opinion of late as an irritant but if the same people look back to last season, I was extremely optimistic. I guess I expected more from Liverpool on the whole last season given how well the first 11-13 or so were doing. My problem is that I don’t understand why people who felt the full force of January, February and March are so docile when I am so sure that pretty much every single person on here at that time was talking about the lack of strength in depth. It was almost our buzz word. .

So forgive me for freaking the fuck out a little! If we get van Dijk, I’ll shut up and start talking about bags and what’s in them again 😛

Mwake, exactly. Coutinho would want to think about all. It may be easy to lose perspective but in his case he really does have to not only watch his next move but also consider the past. He’s only a man and he’ll have all sorts of people talking in his ear. He’ll think of all the nice things over there in Spain but he’ll have a year to think about it because if FSG sell him now before the window shuts then . . . I am totally done with them as owners.

I dont think they will though. They arent that stupid and that is it, if we do well in the CL and press on as a team, while Barca slip further off their throne. . who knows.

what have they really got to offer anyway? what have they done in europe that we havent? We’ll do it again too and soon. I can feel it, everyone can feel it. I thought coutinho could feel it too. . maybe if he’s given a week or 2 he will again . . it cant be easy for the poor little millionaire.

Hi want to add to some of the thoughts on this. Never sure if Coutinho mught read this ? But you have to question the logic of goimg to Barca. Why ? Sure the lure of playing with top players a d a top club. But what is your ambition ? That’s it? Or are you more ambitious ? Become world player of the year ? Golden boot ? If so why go to Barca? Why is Neymar going to PSG in that case? Surely he should have stayed? Its about ambition. Messi will always be top dog there. When he leaves or retires then may be somwone else gets a chance. Move and you have possibly more pressure. The grass is t always greener. If Tino is ambitious he will stay and drive this club forward and become world class. Move and it is unclear what will happen. I think liverpool have a good report with his agent so this will help as to what is best for Tino and what his ambitions are.

Realistically how can anyone afford to turn down £100,000,000. Doesn’t make sense.

Looks like Barca are concentrating on Dembele at the moment, he is obviously the natural replacement for Neymar. But Dortmund is saying 150m this tells you all you need to know about the current state of the Market. Last year everyone was having heart attacks over Pogba, now that deal looks like a Lidl flash sale compared to whats going on at the moment.

Mr Mak: That’s the point, I have typically been optimistic also but the tide has turned and there’s now little hope of success without investment. Another summer of balancing the books won’t push us on. I’m not talking about spending £500 million but we have to land key targets and in addition, take a chance on a few players also at a lower value.

As you alluded to, we played plenty of matches last season where we didn’t even have a competent first eleven. I think one thing that people seem to miss is that we finished fourth, and it was a good achievement, but it has to be taken in the context of being in a poor standard league (poor shows in CL) and we have no European football.

It was a fair achievement but no more than that. This year will be much tougher as undoubtedly the standard will have improved and we have bought 3 players so far. Salah will be a great addition, of that I’m certain. I also like Solanke but there are no guarantees he will really help us and who know how Robertson will do.

I think VVD is top class and would love him to join. Let’s say he does and look at scenario he gets injured like he was for a large part of last season… what are we left with…. the same squad as last year with Salah but yet we have to contend with CL football.

I’m typically not a merchant of doom and don’t think the worst but surely we’re a mile off where we need to be both in terms of depth and quality?

Yes Bofa, we really are. The thing is, people aren’t acknowledging it at all. last January it was so obvious to every single person on here that we were just too light and now you have people talking about how we’re good to go essentially because this is what Klopp said.

We are not good to go and there has been so much talk about us signing all these players, that has dragged on for months and just when it comes to us not getting them, we have to deal with this potential loss of a big player. . . so now it feels like a win when we don’t sign anyone.

perspective is out the fucking window but don’t you worry lads, we’ll be focused right in on what we need when it’s too late to do anything about it.

Van Dijk (or another top CB) signs or I’m completely done with FSG and their bullshit. They might be happy with the clubs financial performance as the team struggles but as a fan, I don’t get such a reward. I only get frustration and this window has so far only filled me with a sense of foreboding.

Bofa…..Barca have £200mil burning a hole in their pocket and look at the difficulty they are having trying to bring in players they want.
What makes you think we can just go out and bring in someone new we want at this late stage? It’s not that easy.

Ginger completely agree and then you have to factor in that even if the club will sell they will want ridiculous money which Klopp and the club may not want to pay.
