Obviously from a lengthy lay off, time’s needed to ease back into the first 11, but the body language from last night otherwise struck me as somebody itching to get back to playing.

The only trouble is, Klopp’s not picking him.

I wonder whether there’s signs there of Klopp not wanting Ings in the long run as he was another of Brendan’s signings.

Personally, I’m a fan of the kid and just want him to get back to playing and putting them in the back of the net.

I thought he’d come on last night,I must admit. Obviously,Klopp doesn’t think he’s up to speed yet fitness wise. I don’t think it’s anything more than that to be honest

I read somewhere yesterday that Klopp and Ings have agreed that its not going work for him at Liverpool as he wants to play. Wouldnt suprise me to see him gone by the end of the window.
Maybe a cheeky loan to Celtic

That surprises me. I thought he’d be perfect for the way Klopp likes to play. If he does go,will Klopp stick with the forwards that he has,or do you reckon we will look to bring a replacement in before the window shuts?

Great shame if that’s the case; saw a bit of Rushie in him peeling away from defenders, and knowing how to find the back of the net.

I have no doubt he’d go into double figures for us.

I also thought he would get on last night, and he might have if klopp hadn’t needed to replace Can, I like the kid and hope he stays, but I don’t think he will ever be first choice.

Yeah ST I thought he’d fit the Klopp style perfectly. I don’t think he will replace Ings if he does go, I’d bet Klopp will stick with Sturridge & Origi as the main men with Firmino as a back up (I personally don’t like this idea but hey what do I know).

Number8wasgr8 Yeah I think that will be how it pans out if Danny leaves. Like Sakho,I think it would be a mistake to let him go,but if Klopp doesn’t rate him, there’s not a lot the lad can do,similar situation to Benteke,in so much as he just wasn’t Klopp’s cup of tea.

Speaking of Benteke,he started last night in Palace’s 2-0 win over Blackpool, but was substituted at half time. He was replaced by Connor Wickham, who scored 2 minutes after coming on. The lad can’t catch a break!

It’s ultimately whether or not these players (if they don’t manage to come off the bench) can deal with this week-by-week knowing they won’t be first choice when it comes to picking a starting line up.

If they are accepting, then there’s no issue and these guys would believe their chance would come anyway because of the nature of the course of events over the season in the wear and tear of injuries and suspensions.

ST I agree, always thought klopp would love ings style of play and work ethic. Especially from a striker who, I would have thought, is accepting that he is going to be about 3rd choice until proven himself. Looks like he is 4th choice behind sturridge origi and firmino (in no particular order…). I hope there is no truth to this, because I like ings and was hoping he would become a valuable squad member. Imagine him coming on as a sub and chasing you around in the 80th minute…nightmare! I don’t think he is top level and he still has to prove himself, but from what I’ve seen he is a very capable backup striker

Its ok being a back up striker who is happy to sit on the bench and collect his thousands each way. Danny Ings to me does not seem like one of them people and can see him moving on to get game time. If i was West Ham id be looking at him. Exactly what they need.

Surely when he joined he didn’t expect to be ahead of sturridge and benteke (and firmino) though? So his position in the squad hasn’t changed much. I had him down as someone who was going to prove their worth though by always being ready when he got s chance. After being out for a year he can’t expect to have moved up the pecking order. Maybe he has been told he isn’t needed and should move on but it doesn’t make sense to me – I’d have thought klopp would give him a chance.

I hope he stays. As you guys know, I have called for most of the team that lost to Burnley to be dropped, Sturridge would be one of the first people out of that team that I’d drop. I’d probably have Origi start the match with Ings on the bench. My point is that we need Ings this season even if he’ll have limited time on the pitch but with that too, as the season goes you never know what may happen. . Maybe Ings will begin to impress in training. It’s very likely that Sturridge will pick up an injury, well what if Origi does also?

I don’t like us loaning out Sakho and I don’t like the idea of us shipping out some serious potential. . and Ings is serious potential.

Got to remember the extent of his injury too. Acl takes a hell of a long time to come good, sometimes you don’t ever fully recover. Apart from the injury itself it takes a long time to regain proper fitness.

Fulcrum agree, but all it takes is a couple of injuries and he would get game time.

Shame really if he goes as I was looking forward to seeing him play in a wider attacking position – offering (like Origi) something very different that the likes of Couthinho and Firmino (moved of a goal threat).

I think the whole “he’s a great fit for Klopp” is an idea that football fans initially had, that the media really went to town with. Personally I want to see Ings out there, he wasnt as fast as some of the others before the injury, he is going to be a little slower now , at least for the near future. . but I really hope to see him soon.

I am not the kind to go watching all sorts of games anymore so I’ve only seen Ings for us and some highlights on youtube but from what I’ve seen he looks like a really good player. He just needs a bit of luck and to impress in training.
