There is no doubt that where we have been solid defensively for large spells of the season a few frailties have started to appear, especially from set pieces and high balls in.

With Andy Carroll set to return from injury next Monday night I would hope that AC will be getting the defence well drilled so we dont look as chaotic as we did just before half time yesterday, which will include the shift that the wing backs will have to put in to cut off the supply chain, especially from the defensive left side of the pitch.

How on earth did we end up with Moses marking Llorente for the Swansea goal?

Some thinking for Conte to do because West Ham will look to hit Carroll in the air at every opportunity and we will have to be strong in the aereal battles.

Have to admit that we simply did not look organised or set at for the free kick and I think it was simply bad luck about the marking. Even then, Llorente moved and no defender or player went with him

Not sure who is responsible for organising the defence at set pieces but you have to assume that Conte had done his homework and would have detailed a specific player to mark Llorente during training so for me the blame is totally down to the organiser of the defence (and as the captain and defender I am assuming that is Cahill but could be wrong).

Because the error was so bad you have to assume that special attention will be paid to set pieces and the potential of facing Carroll during training this week. KTBFFH

JT could certainly provide the organisation needed at the back against the Hammers…and nullify the likes of Carroll etc. Who would make way for him? Moses, Alonso? One of them would have to as Azi remains our most reliable defender this season.

JT have no business in that defence and the moment he is our worst defender.
Conte won’t change anything rather will want Luis to go for second phase if Andy wins the ball.

I could be proved wrong, but think the key to stopping Carroll is to cut out the supply line. With Antonio suspended, that’s half the job done. Keep Snodgrass quiet and job done….

I cannot believe what i am reading, we have two separate threads now on what Conte is to do about a certain Andy Carroll, really, come on people get real, one he may not even be fit, and two how many actual goals has he scored this season with his head, he scored that scissor kick and now all of a sudden every team in land is supposed to prepare for the best striker around.
We managed perfectly well when we spanked Manure 4.0 with a certain Mr Ibrahimovich playing, so pretty sure Conte will lose to much sleep over Carroll.

There wont be any changes, same 11 barring injuries.
Enjoy the game, pretty sure we will get three points, albeit they always raise their game against us.

BP… Agree largely with what you say about Carrol… I actually really like him as a player and would like to see him at our club as a number two, impact player alongside Antonio who just gets better and better.

I think the concern regarding Carrol comes from the fact that even when JT was in his pomp, ran rings around him. Only player to do so imo. Having said that, not sure he’ll play and West hams defence is far too shaky and I suspect they’ll conceded as they’re having a difficult season.

As for our defence. Its the best in the division so Conte has tightened it, improved it and can shove whoever he wants in his back three as far as I’m concerned. I’d only ask questions if our back three were the size of the seven dwarfs. Its the system not the players and it’s wonderful to see the players playing with intensity from the start of every game.

I think the main concern regarding Carroll is that he always seems to score against us and causes even JT problems whenever he player

RDP – only trouble with Carroll is his fitness but totally agree would make a good impact sub in our squad. KTBFFH
