Speaking here is Johnny Giles, Eamonn Dunphy and of course Didi Hamann. To the non-Irish, this is our football panel, well some of the main ones anyway. They can be very knowledgeable sometimes and other times, a bit cantankerous. They are never afraid to cut into any team/player/manager, which I usually find refreshing. I have to say that I find it interesting that they’ve picked up on Firmino. They didn’t go talking about his lack of goals either. TBH, I hadn’t noticed his committing more fouls than before, it’s something I’ll look out for though from here on.

As for Gomez, ya it’s always great to hear your own views backed up by semi knowledgeable media types. It’s good to get good feed back and to have that trickle back to the player.

What do you lads think about what they had to say specifically on Firmino and mane. I think they said that Firmino doesn’t drop back as much as before but I do see him dropping back still, so I’m not sure they are 100% right here but maybe I’m wrong?

As for Mane, I’ve little to complain about with him now. I think he’s doing a fairly good job. Everyone up top could do with being a little sharper, that goes without saying for us right now but Mane has put in a shift most days. he’s making good runs, even if he sometimes lacks confidence, I do think the desire is there.

But ya, we have kinda gon from this incredible attacking team, to a really really good defensive team. If it shows how poor our attack is right now, it also shows the tactical prowess of Klopp. he’s no one trick pony and I would really like to hear the media highlighting this more, if anything.

Do we have the best CBs in the league? Maybe if we got the chance to play Gomez there all the time.. It’s certainly worth debating anyway. I would be inclined to say yes, if forced to answer.

have absolutely no time for Johnny giles. He talks absolute rubbish and hasn’t a clue.

I haven’t listened to the above but hamman has given klopp plenty of stick in the past. Not sure they get on.

dunphy I just cant take seriously but like to listening to him. he says one thing one week and another the next week

firminio has been playing number ten last few games

id rather he stayed up top and salah went wide right instead of through the middle

mane is doing ok but seems to disappear from games

overall, we have are doing really well. People complained we couldn’t defend now we can but people still are complaining. I am very relaxed when we go 1-0 or 2-0 up these days. Last season you were waiting for us to fold. We concede less goals and have scored more goals.

I believe we will get better aswell. So many things still to come up and its all ver y positive

get our players back injury free. I really believe we can go to psg and win. Going out of the cl is not the end of the world as long as we are still in with a shout of staying with city

Couldn’t agree more Sean. Last season, I would never be confident when 2 goals up but this season I’m always confident of 3 points with this margin.

I wouldn’t agree that it’s all very positive. Being defensively solid is fantastic and all but we are way better than this offensively, we know it. I would also be extremely disappointed to go out of the CL in the group stage. I guess I would find it criminal as I think City will be near impossible to beat to the title. The PL is priority but we don’t want to be in the situation where we’re out of the Cl and then very shortly after to find that city have pulled away and our season is essentially over. That’s a likely scenario if we go out.

On the other site I spoke a lot more about what we need to do going forward (the one game at a time philosophy) and how we need to concentrate on our own points gathering and not others, obviously this is what we have to do in the Pl and you never know.. but I am a little worried about the remaining CL matches. I think if we get the ball rolling, we can win this tournament but we’re in a semi-difficult position already.. Nothing a win won’t cure though!

Going back to the Irish panel, they can talk some shite alright but I wouldn’t say that either of them are clueless (but we all have different opinions of people). Dunphy is hilariously mercurial alright and Giles is stubborn, maybe I’m just fond of them after decades of watching them shouting and frowning at each other and poor old Bill stuck in the middle of it haha.

I too am very confident and much more relaxed when we go a goal or 2 up. Alisson is a fantastic keeper. The last day parried a save into danger, as I’ve been watching for but we got away with it. The defence is one of the best in the world right now.

All is positive when looking at that, for sure.

    I’m
still a bit unsure about Alison. Hasn’t been tested enough for me and that’s because of our defence

He looked very good in two one on one situations againest chelsea

Still have some slight reservations about him but he’s doing alright.
