In July I said that unless there is a player who is world class and would improve the first 11 like Cech has the squad is strong enough. I still believe that to be true.
With all the injuries we have, players are stepping up – Flamini and Campbell two recent good examples. We also have world class players coming back. Wilshire is back in training and Welbeck will be soon too. Also we have many young players in reserve that will need to be given a chance – our squad is very strong.
So for me possibly the first 11 can be improved and of course we should always look to improve. I have a feeling Wenger might bring in a centre midfielder but I really don’t believe he needs to – unless they are like PV4 of course
December 11, 2015 at 11:00 am #734057simply YES, we are to weak as a squad so if the SQUAD can be improved in January I would (DM & CD maybe even a ST) id then use the summer to improve the 1st 11
there are players out there and i believe for the right price available in January, but takes some balls and cash, and Wenger does not like to spend “his” cash!
Not a position we NEED cover for right now but at some point either Jan or summer id love for us to get Reus
December 11, 2015 at 4:24 pm #734807i think we need at least 2 players.with coquelin out for 3 months i think it
will be difficult for flamini to play to a level week in week out.i’m still
very concerned at the centre back position.if kos gets injured i fear for us.December 11, 2015 at 7:18 pm #734954A DM to cover for Coquelin – possibly yes but it depends on how long he will be out. Is it two more months or an is it another Arsenal injury 2 months? That said, I know Chambers had a shocker there last season but I would like him given another chance first – then there is Beliek and Wilshire coming back who likes to play a deep role for England.
Kos is the best CB in the league any team would miss him but Gabriel is a more than decent back up IMO. I think we are ok at CB.
A striker would always be good but they have to be better or offer something different than Giroud, Walcott and Welbeck – not easy.
Basically, all I’m saying is the squad is very good and deeper than a lot of the media would make out… I think we have a great chance of winning the league.
December 11, 2015 at 7:35 pm #734963Ideally yes. A defensive midfielder with a bit of height and power would be perfect.
December 13, 2015 at 12:52 pm #736688We needed to bring in a central midfielder to either compete or play alongside Couqelin. We need a quality central defender. Those 2 positions have needed streghtening for a long long time. We also need a striker but other two positions are a must.Wenger’s inability to bring in players needed will cost us.
December 13, 2015 at 4:03 pm #736964Some may argue that we don’t need any signing but most may disagree on that. I’d like to take the easier path for our title challenge, sign an experienced defensive midfielder, not as a replacement for Coquelin but as a cover and a quality centre back, a replacement for Mertesacker, that’s good enough for me.

We need a holding player to cover for Coquelin. We need this player long term, so may as well get him now to give our chances at the title a better shot.
Although with Ramsey playing in the middle, it has lessened the strain of missing Coquelin. Cazorla just couldnt tackle and wasnt mobile or aggressive enough. Ramsey actually can tackle and hurries players on the ball, he won the ball just on the edge of our 18 yard box and went down the other end and finished of the counter move. He is a classic box to box midfielder. Flamini thus has it easier playing alongside Ramsey rather than Cazorla.
I actually think Cazorla’s injury could be a blessing in disguise, as Ramsey gets to play down the middle and the flanks are occupied by natural wide players. 2 goals in 3 games since being moved back to the middle.
December 14, 2015 at 8:22 am #737957Carvalho, as the mid for me
December 14, 2015 at 9:45 am #738104There is no question of whether we need players or not. We need a DM have done for 2 years, Flamini is still a headless chicken and has been lucky that his last 3 games have all been against teams we should be beating. Lets see how he plays against Silva and/or Debruyne next week. We need a striker, Giroud has been great in last 3 games but ask yourself where he has been the rest of the season…. this is his purple patch and is coming at the perfect time for us, with Sanchez out. Then comes the defence personally i would like to see us bring in Hummels, a powerhouse defender. There is no excuse for not signing all 3 and by signing just those 3 players we would have one of teh strongest squads around. Hummels, Carvalho, Aubamayang/Benzema. I would possibly look at someone like Greizman or Rues instead of an out n out striker as these guys can play up top as can Sanchez, Walcott and welbeck. All can also rotate positions up top. I dont see the need to bring in bench players we have enough of those with enough qwuality to fill in a few games here and there, we need top talent and we have the funds the funds.

You cant sign Hummels, Aubamayang/Benzema in January. We wouldnt sell a key player mid season, so why could Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund.
Carvalho is a possibility, and maybe Lars Bender from Leverkusen.
December 14, 2015 at 12:30 pm #738593never said in January, and certainly wouldnt expect us to sign all in January but can i ask why you think we cant sign all in Jan? also why would we need to sell a key player? We have money to support the purchase and wages of all 3 players.
December 14, 2015 at 2:10 pm #738914Think you just answered your own question Hulk…we do not need to sell a key player in January so Browinho is asking you why would Dortmund sell two key players or Real Madrid sell 1 key player in January…both teams in with a shout at their domestic leagues much like us so why sell settled key players in January when you do not have to…
we may see a defensive midfielder in January but thats about it…Personally speaking I would prefer not to sign anyone just for the sake of it…we need to buy to improve squad in short and long term…I have no idea what Wengers plans are but from what I have seen of those players possibly making step up from youth team then I like Bielik…he definately has something to offer and should make the squad for next season…do we then need another defensive midfielder in the squad…we need to look for replacements for Rosicky/Arteta/Flamini this summer and for me Bielik should be promoted and Flam/Arteta allowed to leave then its the other 2 and who to replace them with…or maybe Arteta goes Bielik promoted and Flam stays for another season…
Ideally I would like to see Rosicky/Arteta/Flam/Per/Caz/Debuchy/one from Sczesney/Ospina all to be sold and replaced but I know it aint going to happen in the next year…
December 14, 2015 at 4:35 pm #739187its a fiar point but any club will sell for the right amount and whilst benzema would probably def not come in Jan i think Dortmund could be tempted with a good offer for teh pair. To be fair if Real Madrid offered us a 100 mil for sanchez or Ozil in Jan, i would 100% expect the board to sell. And know one should fool themselves that they wouldnt for those figures, The baord and even wenger will see finance before they do football in these sitiuations. Which is also the reason you wont see us put in offer of any substance for any top quality player, even thought we shoudld be!
Agree with you about who we should let loose in the summer, even that Caz has been pretty special last season and this i do think its time for Rambo to be played there ahead of him, and with Wilshere coming back and with addition of say someone like Carvalho we would have enough options in there. I dont rate flamini that highly but i would keep him on for 1 more season as long as he is happy to play only Carling cup and odd FA cup game. Arteta i pray will leave the club, Rosicky needs to go but i dont want him too, debuchy seems fed up and i think he could go in Jan, Ospina looks like he will prob go and i would like to see shezza go aswell and bring in another keeper instead, Per i would like to keep but not as first or second choice, he would be behind Gabriel and hopefully a new defender.
