Hi mtal61 – firstly it is down to Jose to prep the team correctly, get his tactics right and pick the right personnel. After that he has to sit and watch just like the rest of us. So many comments on different threads about players not giving their all etc. is something he cannot control. You could argue do not pick these players but for such a high profile game as tonight would you use the kids like Van Gaal did last night….? For me, he has to pick his most experienced side and I would hope that the carrot of continued CL participation is enough for all (most..?) of them to raise their games and see us through. Whatever happens, it will be a nervy evening that’s for sure. KTBFFH

1905 your most experienced side is not necessary your best side especially in these moments of time-I would therefore select the best available which does not include some of those non-performing regulars-for me this is the best way to go froward irrespective if management or you feel differently

Theres no enjoyment in watching Chelsea anymore even in the 2nd half of last year it became evident, I would even take comfort from a defeat so physco can get kicked out, the sooner the better for the club

Moos – ” I would even take comfort from a defeat” . And you have the temerity to accuse others of not supporting the club properly. I’m just off to start my journey to the Bridge now – you should try it sometime.

Rover bond @ 1:47 – you are of course correct but seeing as to date and even at the tail end of last season when we were struggling, Jose sticks to his core squad and does not try fringe players. On current form quite a few could be dropped – quite clearly. However, IMO, that will not happen. If it was down to me I would go with Courtois, Baba, JT, Zouma, Dave, Matic, Ramires, Hazard, Willian, Pedro and Costa. Matic and Ramires to be stronger in the middle and offer that extra protection so that hopefully we do not concede. At the same time, and depending on how the game goes I would allow Ramires to bolster the attack. Baba and Dave in natural roles should provide some decent crosses. The rest speak for themselves (IMO) and make Costa stay in the box. Fabregas can come on if we are struggling but for me, he deserves to be dropped (and yet deep down I know he will play). At the end of the day I do not care what team starts or even how they play (obviously would prefer a decent performance but being realistic here) so long as we get the result and finish top of the group. I am hopeful that that would give us a big confidence boost for the run up into Xmas. KTBFFH

I think it will be that team bar probanly Ivanovich and Fabregas starting rather than Baba and Ramires personally I would give RLC a go alongside Matic.

It’s Jose’s head on the block though and he sees them all in training so it’s all down to him re who he thinks gives us the best chance of going through ideally as Group winners.

Pretty close with the team selection but very pleased that Jose did not pick Fabregas and for me – he was not missed at all. Overall, I thought a very good strong performance from Chelsea. Jose got his tactics spot on, especially in the second half, where playing on the break we really should have scored 3 or 4. Great confidence booster and hope that we can use this to kick start our season starting on Monday. KTBFFH

Fabregas can go if it was down to me. I much prefer to see Ramires playing with Matic and I would alternate that to allow RLC to get more game time. Totally agree that based on last nights performance, I would not make any changes to the team that played last night. KTBFFH
