Now it’s reported in The Times that Conte was barred from speaking to targets. If this is true, we are truly a WTF club

Assuming all this is true conversely Stuilse why wasn’t Conte talking to Barkley in the first place and who was driving the Barkley purchase?

There have been rumours that Barkley was concerned that he wasn’t Conte’s choice

But as the liquidator rightly says we have to be careful that we don’t jump to too many conclusions, personally I don’t buy that the club told Conte not to speak to Barkley had they done that not only would I have been deeply disappointed with the club but I suspect Conte would already be back in Italy now.

I also think that it’s highly unlikely that a Manager warning circa £9m pa would have his phone turned off on the last day of the transfer window.

The madness going on right now amongst the media & our own fans about Chelsea’s poor window and players rejecting us needs to stop right now. We just spent a club record £200m on players!!!

    – We sold 1 player who played in the first team regularly (Matic) the rest weren’t to the level yet and have buy back clauses.

    – We have 2 players per position except LWB and in one of the CB positions.

You should all know the tabloids love to make up negative press about Chelsea because most of their readers (Liverpool, Man United etc fans) don’t like Chelsea. It gets them sales, views, clicks.

Chelsea are fine and are in good hands that know what they are doing.

From what ive read conte wasnt allowed to talk to barkley because he was the 1 who told ox we wanted him for wb and not cm and lost the deal because of it which is ridiculous cos the whole planet new thats why we wanted him

Bort – some common sense at last. Well said

Dallas – who knows the accuracy of what is being written these days. We were very clear that we expected Ox to play WB but of course we could have utilised him in other roles as well. Both Jamie Carra and Southgate have said they do not see Ox as a CM but more out wide and Carra even questioned where Ox would fit in almost implying that Klopp had sold the role to him telling porkies…??

You then get Barton claiming that Conte turned off his phone as he was not allowed or did not want to speak to Barkley. Can anyone really believe that on the final day of the window that ANY manager would turn his phone off especially Conte when we are looking to get more players in???

Honestly, I have no idea what to believe but one this is certain that the press/media like to blow up out of all proportion anything Chelsea related that can potentially be turned into a negative…!! KTBFFH

If you fall for the nonsense from the press you will find that Chelsea fc transfer has been disaster. even if we sign Messi and Ronaldo the Media would still be looking to poke holes in our transfers. you don’t expect us to sign 10 players in one transfer window. the players we have added are quality player wohm when they gel will worry those pundits who are trying to knock our transfers.

Although I don’t really get what Emenalo is doing at our club, I feel that all this “Emenalo out” is a bit comical. If we had succeeded landing all our first priorities in this window, most on here would probably have saluted Conte. For all we know, it might have been Emenalo doing the business. Does anyone here really know what role he has? If so, please enlighten us all.

As I have stated before, while Emenalo has been at the Club we have gone through, and hopefully will continue to go through, the most successful period in its history

Yes, mistakes will be made – can you name any club where there aren’t – but overall he has bought or been involved in bringing some wonderful players to the Club. KTBFFH

No one can deny our transfer dealings have been embarrasing for the club and letting go of so many our youth players on loan when we are looking for squad players seems wrong. Letting Matic go when his replacement isn’t fit was just stupid and doubly so to strengthen a rival.
Emanalo and Marina are responsible for transfers -they have made that clear to Anotonio – therefore they are responsible and therefore should pay the price. I have much more faith in a manager that wins us the league in his first year than i do in either of these two individuals. What a shame the club doesnt seem to!!

So if according to the UK press, Chelsea transfer dealings was a disaster, what will they call the Arsenal’s? The Arsenal fans are going nuts!

GIB – not totally agree that you can call this latest transfer window (which I think you are referring to) as embarrassing. We bought in 6 players to bolster the squad

Conte will have been made clearly aware of the Clubs policy in terms of transfers and how we prefer to work. If Conte did not like this he could have walked but chose to stay so therefore accepts whatever he gets. We have a clear policy of loaning out youngsters but this season we seem to have ensured that those we think are in with a shout of making it we have given extended contracts to – which is a good improvement in my book

I agree that right up until the close of the window our squad looked thin and so we all questioned why sell or loan players like Chalobah or Ake for example, who looked worthy of a chance. I think at the end of the day that we have a stronger squad than last season. Not totally convinced about the quality in depth but only time will tell on that one

So far our start has been good and apart from the Burnley game which was heavily impacted by the official (not saying he was wrong but we have already seen in other games after only 3 weeks that officials still are not consistent in their interpretation of events) and we have done really well against perceived competitors…? CFC I believe it’s been embarrassing because we have loaned out or sold players that were good enough to make the squad. We have offered ridiculously low fees like the Initial bid of £15m for Drinkwater and persisted with slightly increased bids for players like Sandro when it was clear that we had no chance of getting the player. The debacle around Barkley just speaks for itself. Dont forget we were front runners for Llorente, Ox and Danilo and got none of them and let’s not even mention the Costa saga. To allow the squad to be so thin and then have to panic buy to get the numbers up is embarrassing for a club of our stature. This said I am happy with the players we have signed and I just hope that Antonio is too and that his enthusiasm of last season isn’t lost as in my opinion he is key to any success we may have this season.

I think we have had a very good transfer window- we could not keep Matic as he would expect to play and Bakayoko is an upgrade on him plus we have Drinkwater who is no slouch himself, Fabregas though different to both also can only be utilized in that area so already 3 class players for 1 position as Kante is a definite starter, upfront it was either Lukaka or Morata, both could not be accommodated and time will tell which one is the better buy. Zappacosta is also a quality player esp. for that kind of money, Sandro might be a bit better but not at that cost. Theres not much more they could have done.

GIB – obviously that is your opinion but not how the Club saw it…

Much as I liked Chalobah to sell him to Watford for only 5m maybe says something about my judgement. Likewise Ake although the money was much better, i.e. none of the big clubs came knocking did they…?

As for our targets does anyone really know? It seems clear we asked Ox to come but play WB. He preferred a central role offered by Liverpool so do not see how anyone can be at fault apart from possibly our persuasive powers are not good enough (and funnily enough in his interview today when asked about Ox, Klopp said he can play in many positions so maybe no guarantee of playing down the middle then…!!)

Re Costa, it is clear that Conte overstepped the mark but it is generally accepted that both Costa and the Club knew exactly what was going to happen in January so it does seem as though Costa is making much more of this than he needs to. Seems he expected us to rollover and accept any paltry offer and we have no reason to

Anyway, guess we beg to differ so lets hope the season progresses as I am sure we both want. KTBFFH

At the end of the day I think we have ended up with a better squad than last season albeit we are still probably short of a striker and a left wing back.

But that shouldn’t hide the fact that our transfer window was a bit of a mess.

Personally I wouldn’t call for anyone’s head but imo there needs to be a detailed discussion at Board level with all those involved in this Summer’s transfers inc Conte to analyse what we did right and what we did wrong.

That’s the only way to improve our performances in future transfer windows.

Sadly I think that such an anlaysis is unlikely to happen though.
