Everton clearly targeted Sane lack of defensive guile and it paid dividends – very reminiscent of last season, lots of possession, a lot of chances, not very clinical in front of goal and away team snatch something with a defensive mistake.
That said positives is Peps substitutions changed the game, I thought Danillo did very well because unlike Walker and Sane (who were playing wing backs he committed defenders with over lapping runs – just like Zabba used too). In addition Sterling was terrifying Everton every time he got the ball
I’d really like to see a side with Mendy Walker playing full backs and Sane and Sterling providing width and coverage in front and behind – I think this would not only stretch teams but make it far less congested in the middle which it was tonight
I have mixen feelings on the Everton game first i very annoyed that Pep infact think Sane is a defender. Thats why we did not get 3 points totalt his fault.
Very angry about the referee the standard needs to get betterin the pl.
but as we played in the second half was a joy to watch with 10 men Everton had nothing abselutley nothing.
Bernardo Silva is quality Sterling was great. And pep did infact do the changes that was needed it’s just a shame he cant get the starting elevens right.
Oh i almost forgott we seems to have a keeper now.
The first 45 minutes we let Everton dictate the pace, on saying that the players di not know where they were supposed to be and lack of CLEAR tactical plan. Everton Manager out thought Pep. Down to 10 men we played better as ateam and KDB made and found space to worry Everton. Feel sorry for Sane…this is not his position, costs us the goal as well as being ineffective in that position. I would like to see more of Bernadinho, he has quick feet and alert mind…he will do well. Danilo is a different player at RB. The defence did OK but Rooney was in acres of space in the box, somebody should have noticed that. Pep needs to get a little sharper and for goodness sake do not keep playing players in a position they cannot do, despite your philosphy most players are not capable of multi tasking as a main tactic…he knows that but it trying to convince them…why not let them play to there strengths not weakness
I’ve looked at the second Walker yellow card and wondering if it’s the fact he looked behind and then altered his run to check the Everton player – never in a million years a yellow card but wondering if the ref construed it as a deliberate foul
Excellent 2nd half, but I was really disappointed with Jesus. Sane should also have been subbed at half time as he was poor. I think we saw how good Danilo could be as a right wing back (and he did use his left foot) so not all bad news. Pep has a lot to do. Thought City looked a lot better with 4 at the back.
