I thought Matic was good yesterday.March 2, 2020 at 11:14 am #1831419
@happy – No further comment to make on the absolute bollocks you were talking last night mate?. Still think it’s a good idea to crow about the fact that on current form we are joint 6th in the PL, or that we have on!y won 2 of our last 6 PL matches, AND dropped 10 points in the process?!
You are a very lucky boy @Mac doesn’t post any longer, he would have ripped you a new arsehole if he had read that nonsense!!😂😂😂😂March 2, 2020 at 11:27 am #1831425
Ha ha, he definitely would have!
I see that shite wolves team won again! 🧐😂March 2, 2020 at 12:26 pm #1831447
You’re a star, good job I’m just a big softie these days mate!😂😂March 2, 2020 at 12:50 pm #1831456
Think what I was getting at was that we’re in the best form we’ve been in under Solskjaer since his first caretaker spell. Undefeated in 8 and generally looking better. Obviously got a little carried away!
Although I read we’ve had the 2nd highest number of clean sheets across Europe this season. In no small manner is that down to captain Harry Maguire who is growing into the role at Old Trafford. And I’ve got (another!) sneaky suspicion that he’ll be making you eat your words at some stage in the next year mate…
🤪March 2, 2020 at 3:21 pm #1831523
@happy – Maguire did the sort of job I envisaged he should do yesterday,ie getting that big fat Yorkshire slab of a head of his on every high ball and set piece that comes into our box. He will always have a tendency towards oafishness though, which means he has to have a top partner who has good recovery pace to cover his arse when he gets skinned, and Lindelof is 100% not that man, not in a million years!March 2, 2020 at 3:44 pm #1831533
He was great going forward too though. Really good feet for a CB, almost never loses it when he surges forward. But agree yesterday’s performance is the level he needs to be at every week. Like i said a while back, though, it does take players time to settle in.
I expect he’ll stay at that level now though.
Agree he needs a faster player next to him, which i think is why Shaw works quite well as part of a back 3. Lindelof is definitely the one to upgrade in that backline, problem is they’ve kept so many clean sheets i don’t think we’ll be buying a defender in the summer. Bailly is “like a new signing” after all!
😉March 2, 2020 at 7:08 pm #1831568
Hahaha he lost possession going forward yesterday. He plays risky, wait and see.
Every outkick from opponents goalkeeper is a threat, you just dont know what will happen. Its not only his lack of pace he is a lazy fucker also.
Why buy a world record fee cb who is so slow that he needs a partner covering for him?
Thats absolute madness.March 2, 2020 at 9:08 pm #1831590
BollocksMarch 3, 2020 at 7:12 am #1831627
To his credit, Maguire has been playing better since being made club captain…not that he could have gotten any worse. Getting the right partner in to complement him should be one of our priorities this summer.March 3, 2020 at 7:27 am #1831631
@happy – I know you won’t like to admit it, but @zico is right to say that when you buy the world’s most expensive defender for 80m you should get something very close to the complete player, and not have to start scrambling around to find a new partner for him to cover his obvious lack of pace and athleticism after just a few short months.
For 80 million we should have ended up with a cross between Franco Baresi and Paulo Maldini, but the reality of Maguire is far, far removed from that.
Either way, he will be here for at least the next 5 years so it is what it is, and we have to find the right solutions, so Ole needs to wake the fuck up big time about Lindelof and take off those blinkers that he seems to be wearing, simple as that.March 3, 2020 at 8:57 am #1831656
blacky, it’s quite strange that Ole keeps picking Lindelof as Norwegians and Swedes tend to hate each other. I was actually in Norway, at the national stadium when Norway booked their ticket to the World Cup in 1998 but the biggest cheer was definitely reserved for the announcement that Sweden failed to qualify!March 3, 2020 at 8:59 am #1831657
Blacky – Yeah i agree to an extent but its all subjective isn’t it? Is VVD the “complete player” when he plays next to Lovren? Was he a 75m player the day he walked through the door at Liverpool? Problem with Zico is he’s made his mind up already on Maguire, too expensive, too slow and therefore will never be good enough. And no matter what Maguire does now Zico won’t be able to change his mind.March 3, 2020 at 9:11 am #1831661
Not sure we are buying a CB to cover for Maguire. I assumed it’s because we don’t have anyone good enough to play there already? Who is good enough in the squad already?March 3, 2020 at 9:54 am #1831675
We’ve plenty of CB’s but they’re either not good enough á la Lindesloth and Smalling, or they’re sick notes á la Bailly and Tuanzebe or they’re plain not wanted a la Rojo. Surely between those five we’ve someone who could partner Maguire. Is there anyone coming through the academy at the moment who’s good enough?March 3, 2020 at 10:29 am #1831693
I think you are correct Killy. We have plenty of players but none good enough for a number of different reasons. People are making out we are in the market for a CB as a result of Maguire’s shortcomings, but I think it’s more that those we have are not up to scratch.March 3, 2020 at 10:34 am #1831694
We’ve been linked with Koulibaly for £100m. But I read yesterday that Ole thinks he could save the club £100m by getting Tuanzebe and Bailly fit and firing next season. 🙄
