Nobody started the topic, so let me do it. We can’t underestimate Everton with Lampard, they beat us there not long ago. But they lost Richarlison and now Calvert-Lewin is injured. I think we should be able to win this one despite our mixed pre-season. Any other result should be considered as a failure.
The team that starts shouldn’t be too far from the first match against Udinese. My prediction: Mendy – Azpi,Silva,Koulibaly – James,Kanté,Jorginho,Chilwell – Mount,Sterling,HavertzAugust 5, 2022 at 5:01 pm #2120218
Lucky’s predicted team of:
Looks about right to me. We’ve had a bad record at Everton over our last few games let’s hope we can bring home 3 points this time.🤞August 5, 2022 at 5:26 pm #2120233
Thanks nine, cheeky aindro stealing my line up 😉August 5, 2022 at 5:27 pm #2120234
Good feeling for tomorrow nine 🤞August 5, 2022 at 5:34 pm #2120235
Everton fans will be pessimistic tomorrow so if we start well and get an early lead we will make it a lot simpler. Give the Everton fans the slightest bit of hope and it doesn’t matter what XI lamps fields as the Everton players are always lifted by their fansAugust 5, 2022 at 5:35 pm #2120237
The team we think will start for us should be good enough it’s just about how ready they are for competitive gamesAugust 5, 2022 at 5:37 pm #2120238
P.s Aindro I can see your post was from yesterday, it does seem like the most likely line up 👍August 5, 2022 at 6:56 pm #2120267
Lucky mate, that’s from yesterday. So you stole my team. LOL. But there’s a slight difference as I think Chilwell should start ahead of Alonso. With Cucurella now joining, Alonso will be a goner I guess, especially he has only 1 year left of his contract and he hasn’t signed any extension.
But yeah, Tuchel looks happier, he even complimented Boehly & Eghbali, so I hope all good vibes will be brought to tomorrow and we’ll beat Everton at Goodison. Agreed, an early goal is important. But for me the key is always the defense. If we can resist their attack and keep a clean sheet, a goal or two will come I reckon. Sterling is creative, chances were begging for Havertz to tap in during the pre-season (at least from the highlights I saw) and Mount scored 2 during pre-seasonAugust 5, 2022 at 7:51 pm #2120276
Sounds to me listening to Tuchel that he doesn’t think Chilwell is quite up to speed to start?August 5, 2022 at 8:03 pm #2120279
Yeah aindro as Nine says tuchel seems to believe chilwell might not he ready yet.
And yeah good team you picked 😀August 6, 2022 at 7:51 am #2120310
Surely we will beat Everton, yes they may have a brilliant manager but they got noone new in fact they lost their best players while we have strengthened considerably. Should be tough away but it has to be a win. These weaker teams we need to beat.August 6, 2022 at 8:07 am #2120313
“According to the Daily Mail, Alonso has already said his goodbyes to the staff at Chelsea’s Cobham training complex ahead of the move to Barcelona, which could be completed this weekend.”
The above suggests that Cucurella could make his debut this evening?August 6, 2022 at 9:33 am #2120328
Yeah nine if he on his way he won’t be playing so maybe Cucurella does startAugust 6, 2022 at 11:40 am #2120358
Marcus Alonso has reportedly asked Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel not to select him for the Blues’ Premier League season opener against Everton on Saturday. The Spanish left-back remains the subject of intense interest from Barcelona, with the cash-strapped Catalan club understood to be in talks and pushing to sign the defender this summer. Sounds like it Lucky.August 6, 2022 at 12:47 pm #2120391
Intro, from what I read, I don’t think Everton will have an attack for the game. One of the reasons they were rumoured to be after BrojaAugust 6, 2022 at 4:44 pm #2120546
We got the team right except for Chilwell starting.
Everton look to be matching us in a 343.
🤞August 6, 2022 at 4:52 pm #2120550
The team is exactly as expected though i personally would prefer Kovacic or even Gallagher to Jorginho, anyway see how we go.August 6, 2022 at 4:55 pm #2120553
Good to see Chilly back.His first start in 9 months.August 6, 2022 at 7:42 pm #2120592
Longest game ever!
Very rusty performance, if it was nil nil we couldn’t argue we deserved more really but 3 points all that mattered today we were never going to get a good performance.
Silva outstanding and everything good went through sterling, he is going to be an important player for us.
Very nervous about spurs at the bridge they look sharper than us and could hurt our aging back 3 on the counter where Everton continually failed today.August 6, 2022 at 8:17 pm #2120604
Perfect summary Lucky.
Having lost the last 4 at Goodison the win was very welcome but it wasn’t pretty to watch and we’ll have to be a lot better next week v Spurs.
