JC, lol! I only saw that i accidentally wrote Keita when talking about Fabinho. I wasnt being a smartass hah Just a weird mistake.

As for today though, fabinho was really good. I’d like to have seen Keita finish the game but I guess Klopp took him off so he could play against Napoli… So we’ll probably get to see more from the 2 of them there. That is unless Fabinho is given a rest.

As for his settling in, it’s going really nicely. he was well up with the pace of the match. He took the ball off the opposition very easily at times and his distribution was good. I think the midfield controlled the game really well and as it went, it only got easier for them.

I think we had a few 8’s in the team today and Fabinho was one of them.

The 6, 8 and 10 were clearly defined today which is crucial for balance.

Use the link and watch from 21:09 mins to see Match of the day 2 focus on Fabinho. they were praising him on his passing ability. Obvioulsy the assist stood out but it was nice to see the other forward passes that went under the radar, this guy is class, we now have some decent options with Faby. I think even Faby can compliment Henderson too.

9/10 for Fabinho. He was the real MotM in my opinion. He transitioned from winning the ball to putting in some excellent forward passes, to an extremely high level. This what what we saw against Red Star but this time it was in the PL, against our traditional rivals. We utterly dominated Utds midfield.. and whole team TBH. You couldn’t ask for more from this lad.

He was excellent vs Utd in all aspects. Think Klopps decision to ease him in gently us reaping rewards plus we are playing 4231 more often which he knows. Motm for me also.

I will admit that I was getting worried for him. The game against Arsenal was a big let down for me, as I got so hyped up after his performance against red Star. I’m so pleased to see that he can make a similar impact against PL opposition.

Rob said in a previous match that the roles were more defined than before, with this midfield (I think it was the same 3 anyway). Keita still ha some settling to do but he’s shown some promise recently and we really are starting to see the characteristics of our midfield, as a unit. Before it was a pretty solid group of similar players but it’s becoming that “well oiled machine” that we’d hoped for.

Still early days, but if Fabinho can replicate yesterday’s performance on a regular basis, we’ll have a gem on our hands.

I posted on another page that he had 30 passes, 28 of which were forward. He’s a cracking player and the consistency is coming. He also made a difference when he came on v Napoli.

He is 25, which is still relatively young for a footballer but you just get the feeling that the scope for improvement is huge. In addition, he’s coming good at the right time i.e. the Christmas madness! Hopefully Keita kick on too as we need all of them.

Correct me if I’m wrong but last night was a 4231, with Fab and Gini as a double 6, Firmino as the 10,Salah up top with Mane on the right and Keita on the left although he drifted in all the time. Fab probably the deepest compared to Gini but they did cover each other well.

As I mentioned he is used to this formation and has a good understanding with Gini. Doesn’t suit Keita so much, think he is better in a 433.

There will be bigger tests than this for Fab, Utd didn’t put him under any real pressure, but he’s passed with flying colours.

Played a quality pass for Mane’s goal, and a decent through ball later on. Very good in the air, strong in the tackle and provides an extra dimension on corners and set pieces.

Got caught out in the run up to Utds goal, and looked a little too relaxed at times for example could have got back quicker to defend after he was beaten in midfield in the run up to the Utd goal, and wasn’t checking what was behind him a couple of times, which makes me nervous. But nothing too bad, at times his position was excellent, just seems that he switches off sometimes.

Gifted player who looks like he’s starting to enjoy his football. The nerves seem to have settled now.

I wonder how a Henderson-Fabinho combo would work i.e. 2 holding midfielders. So far we’ve only seen Fabinho alongside Wijnaldum.

I think it would give licence for 4 attackers to let loose in a 4231 formation

Has fabinho helped to bring out the best in Jordan Henderson?

Now our midfield is looking more dynamic thanks to faby. I think Henderson and fabinho could be a great pair. Henderson has started to play like old henderson in the last two games and I think fabinho has helped Henderson go up a gear. Also fabinho is showing us that Keita isn’t the only defensive minded player that can drive and dribble with the ball.

He made a few mistakes today but he did a lot more right. It was a massive improvement over the previous match where he was over-shadowed by Torreira. I think today he got the better of him, when up against him. Disappointed that the ref deemed a good challenge as a foul but ya.. he won the ball well, it was his distribution that was off at times but again, it wasnt all bad or even close. he did well with that interplay with Salah to get that low shot in on the right. On another day, that’s a goal.

I’ll give him a 7.5/10. Had he not played Arsenal in with that panicked pass across the centre then I’d be inclined to go 8.

Yeah Fabinho made some sloppy poses as he did against wolves but I guess that is to be expected as he adjusts to the team pace of the game. So far he has been just what we needed…good vision and ability to support attacks.

Do we play Fabinho away at City. As good as he’s been in an attacking sense he’s gave away some shocking sloppy passes that could have resulted in goals for Wolves and Arsenal. Man city are a different breed of team and more likely to capitalize. This isn’t too slag off Fabinho, he’s still performed really well overall but I’ve noticed some of his adventurous passes are occasionally sloppy. Of course it’s like a sliding scale, you can pass safley like Hendo and not make any mistakes or you can be more adventurous and risk the odd sloppy pass… What do you guys think?

He seems to make these mistakes when pressed out of his comfort zone. That’s what pressing is for but I guess it’s a sign that he needs more time to feel 100% comfortable in this side. That said, he would play a huge role in it for us, against City.
I think it may come down to who is fittest/sharpest. That will likely be the deciding factor as wear and tear will be kicking in now. We go into the game with an extra day of rest over City but they have the bigger squad.

If they are both in good shape, I’d play Wijnaldum and Fabinho. I guess the 3rd will depend on formation.
