Other than Supermarkets stores are closing all over the country, Pubs and Restaurants have all been closed and I suspect we are days away from an enforced lockdown in the UK because people aren’t sensible enough to keep their distance.

Alongside that cases of Coronavirus are increasing by the day and sadly so are the deaths

The Olympics which don’t start until July 25th are about to be postponed yet we have UEFA setting the dates for the CL and EL Final’s at the end of June and the PL are meeting again on April 3rd to discuss how and when they can restart the PL with a plan for behind closed doors games in the Midlands in June.

Out of touch just doesn’t come into it there’s no chance of playing any PL games behind closed doors in June imo not safely anyway Football needs to get things in to perspective the only thing that is important currently is to overcome this Coronavirus and try and save as many lives as possible.

Forget football forget all sport it is not important right now.

This season is tarnished now and given all the circumstances I’ve got no interest in seeing it finished and according to a survey I saw last week neither do the majority of football fans put the lid on this season and start afresh goodness knows when next season.

People are dying every hour and every day, now is not the time to be trying to force feed the PL and the CL and EL into some kind of culmination to the Season which would be tarnished anyway by how its intended to play the games and the emergency services would need to be on call to be at any games played behind closed doors when they are needed elsewhere.

PSG played a CL game behind closed doors in Paris a couple of weeks ago and thousands of fans were outside the Stadium imagine how many Liverpool fans might turn up to a behind closed doors game that might confirm the title for Liverpool.

Trying to finish the season like this under the current circumstances is completely bonkers.

The football authorities need to tune in to the even more terrible events than the UK that are currently unfolding in Italy surely that tells them now is not the time to try and force feed a culmination of the PL,CL and EL.

Exactly 999. The season needs to be void. Not enough testing is being done in the UK, so the situation is actually a lot worse than it is showing. People would b3 horrified if they knew how bad it actually is. It is so contagious

Hey everyone I hope everyone is fit and well during this worrying time. I can’t believe how slow the UK is to react to this pandemic, it seems to have been brushed off until recent days which was how Italy handled it initially and has shown itself to carry devastating consequences.

I live in Barcelona and we are in week 2 of total lockdown, I´ve had friends who’ve been fined upwards of €1k for being outside their house without just cause. This thing is no joke and as much as I pine for football, it shouldn’t even be in the minds of the governing bodies at this point. Keeping people alive is the only priority and that’s not an overstatement.

Stay well everyone, dont take a chance with this virus!

I think you can write off everything until there is a vaccine.

You can thank the people we have put into power all over the planet for the big fucking mess they have made.

They had two options at the beginning of this pandemic:

    1. Globally shut everything down immediately and let the economy implode so we could stop the virus and save all these lives that have been lost since or…

    2. Let nature do its thing and let it kill people and continue life as normal.

They tried to do both which was impossible and instead fucked economy and now the virus is spreading like wild fire.

I personally think that its not a coincidence that there is a killer virus born out of nothing that is killing off a percentage of the human population and killing off our industry which pollutes the planet. It seems like nature is trying to restore some balance.

As a result of the COVID-19 crisis in Europe, UEFA has today formally taken the decision to postpone the following matches, originally scheduled for May: UEFA Women’s Champions League final, UEFA Europa League final, UEFA Champions League final. No decision has yet been made on rearranged dates.

I think Premier League should follow to postpone the season indefinitely for now. There’s no sense in setting a date like 1st June in this kind of situation. We don’t know yet for how long we are battling this war against Covid-19. So far all the indications aren’t good yet. The virus is gaining more and more grounds, more and more cases in a lot of countries. Let’s prioritize to stay safe. Whether Liverpool should be crowned champion or not, I think it’s only their fans who care.

At last some common sense from UEFA. Hopefully the PL follows suit.

At this time football takes a back seat really.

My young lad suffers from Cystic Fibrosis so it’s a particularly worrying time for us.

I hope and pray we all get through this terrible time safe and well so we can get back to chatting, debating and winding each other up.

Fellow posters and Chelsea Fans Stay Safe, please please please listen to the advice and together we will beat this terrible virus.

Well summed up Bort. At a time when w3 need goo$ leader’s! They are few and far between. We know Singapore, Taiwan, China, Japan and Hong Kong have all done well, but you also have o admire the New Zealander PM. There is no messing around with her. We could do with more like her.

I don’t think it depends only on leaders. Everybody needs to do his or her part to slow the coronavirus spreading. It’s kinda a lockdown too since last week where I live but just last weekend the TV showed so many people still walking in the parks. I understand the “urge” to go out since the weather’s just starting to be nicer after a usual long winter here but it’s really annoying to see people not obeying the rules. Everybody should respect the social distancing and stay home orders, at least for several weeks to come.

Saw also on TV London tube that was still full, dunno from when the footage. Not easy.

Football, not sure when the season should restart but I am all in voiding this season. Olympics have been postponed too to next year. For me this season is no longer interesting. To pass through this pandemic safely is the main priority, other things just seem not-important at the moment

I’ll blame the Chinese. Virus was discovered in June 2019…well discovered by a prominent doctor so fuck knows how long it’s been in existence. The doc goes public…then the doc gets taken out. Virus then made public by Chinese govt in 2019…strangly that was a just after Trump had bullied them into a trade deal that favoured the US and international community. The rest is history….just saying that theres a serious whiff of fishiness in the air. 🙈🙈

Daily Mail reporting that there’s a!ready a shift in opinion amongst PL Clubs towards voiding the Season and starting anew and afresh in September?

Not sure how accurate that is but it’s something I predicted might happen a while back in terms of the desire to finish this Season would diminish as time went by.

There’s another PL meeting on April 3rd I don’t think it will give us any great insight as to how all this might conclude in terms of football if we’re playing football though before next September I’ll be suprised and personally I think that should be the new season.

Nothing that finally happens will please everyone especially with the PL title, CL,EL, Relegation and Promotions still to be finalised.

Allegedly PL Clubs have been instructed not to use the term null and void if time has to be ultimately called on this season instead they’ve been instructed to use the word curtailed which allegedly gives the PL more legal protection against claims from the Broadcasters with the PL claiming a “force majeure”.

Meanwhile UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin says the season risks being lost “We have a plan A, B or C: to restart in mid-May, in June or at the end of June. If then we wouldn’t be able to do any, the season would probably be lost”

End of June is not impossible but right now given everything it seems quite optimistic and the players would probably need a 3/4 week mini pre season prior to any restart too.
