Is it starting? I read somewhere there are players and a club in isolation for the mandatory 14 days. That surely puts a scupper on it all.

All indicators say that Premier League will be starting, but for me it’s just not logical (nor ethical) if any sports start before the infection curve slows down. Where I live there’s no professional sports yet, so it would honestly be nice to watch some live sports on TV and personnally I am looking forward to watch Bundesliga matches this weekend even though I don’t normally follow Bundesliga at all.

The government where I live started to ease-up things yesterday as now people are allowed to do some outside sports as summer approaches (no team sports of course). But as the infection rate hasn’t really slowed down in the city: I think this is simply reckless and dangerous, the virus could spread to more people in a already most heavily impacted city in the country as people will start to go outside to do sporting activities in public parks.

South Korea restarted their league last week, Germany starts this week, at least those 2 countries for now have containted the virus. Italy would start early June. But I don’t think England has been able to contain the pandemic, so still IMO Premier League should not restart yet.

The only thing that will stop the PL starting now are the Government guidelines re the lockdown not being met between now and whenever is the restart date in June or multiple Clubs having to go into isolation pre the restart.

Both the PL and Government for different reasons are pushing to restart and as I predicted a while back that rightly or wrongly will make it happen.

The Bundesliga starts on Saturday and it will be intersting to see how that goes.

Starting the PL might be the easiest part, time will tell.

I think it’s a green light. Culture secretary Oliver Dowden has declared it is now up to football to formulate a return to action in June. “The government is opening the door for competitive football to return safely in June.“

Common sense overwhelmingly should tell anybody with a modicum of savvy that there can be no green light to start up football this season. It’s just not on.

The PL and Government will obviously attempt to conjure up any kind of bullshit to try to do so, but they are only in it for the money. Football is thankfully postponed and must stay that way until at least next season. If only to ensure the health and well being of the players, staff and fans.

The second wave of this plague hasn’t even kicked-off yet, but make no mistake, it will and is on its way. In the meantime, keep your distance, wash yourselves frequently and fuck the PL and Government for their blind unforgivable selfish incompetence.
Neither of them are worthy of even the briefest piss in the wind.
    Lenny.

If Project Restart starts and finishes I suspect there will be some strange results after so many weeks off.

The most important thing though over and above the results and where everyone finishes is that the players stay safe and nobody suffers any lasting damage and the same applies to all the European Leagues too.

Ziyech is supposedly a Chelsea player from 1st July. Does anyone know for sure if he can play for us this season? I suspect there will be some regulation preventing this.

Good question Alan I’ve been wondering exactly the same myself.

I suspect the official Summer transfer window will be moved back until the end of whenever this season is which unfortunately would prevent us from playing Zilyich until after then but we’ll see.

League Two’s season has been brought to an early conclusion following discussions between clubs and the English Football League.

The final table will be decided using a points-per-game method, but promotion and relegation has yet to be finalised.

There are still plans for the play-offs to take place as usual, with two-legged semi-finals and then a final.

Meanwhile, teams in League One will have to meet again on Monday after failing to come to an agreement.

On Thursday, six third-tier clubs had said they were determined to complete their remaining fixtures.” BBC Football 15/05

From BBC: Premier League clubs have agreed to stage one of the return to training. So let’s see in next few weeks how the situation will unfold. Watched Dortmund and enjoyed the match after so long without watching professional sport, but safety is above all.

I start to think that this virus will not go away, will stay for awhile. Especially when countries will start to open up businesses again, to allow travelers to come again etc. So might as well start to adapt living with the situation according to local laws.

According to Martin Samuel PL Clubs to vote on the 28/05 to decide on how to end the season if it can’t be completed under Project Restart.

Favourite is weighted points per game WPPG where home games and away game points so far are split giving a points average across both home and away gsmes and then extrapolated by the number of home and away games left.

SPL called the season yesterday with Celtic declared Champions and Hearts relegated.

If the season can’t be finished then the only honest option is to scrap it in my opinion. I know that’s harsh on Liverpool, but I really can’t see any justification for giving a team the title if they haven’t won it. And as close as liverpool are, mathematically they haven’t won it yet. As I say, it’s harsh, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. It’s not just my hatred for Liverpool, I’d say the same if it was any club, and I sure as hell wouldn’t want Chelsea to win a title like that.

I now cannot see the season being voided. If project restart cannot be materialized (6 players have been tested positive), they will establish a final table with a system that will be chosen. Probably as 99 said weighted points per game WPPG.

Kante’s refusal to train is understandable given the Coronavirus situation but he would be a big miss in the last 9 games as we try and hold on to 4th place.

Not too good with maths anyone know how any of all these other proposed alternative methods of attaining points will effect Chelseas current position should the actual games not go ahead?

Blueownwer, either way of the proposed two calculations plus freezing the PL as it stands all leave Chelsea in 4th place. Cheers 9’s

There is possibility too that City may be banned to participate in the UCL. If so, if the season does not restart: we should be qualified for the UCL. However we’re not sure yet how Premier League will end this season: restart or not.

Will Kanté not play anymore this season if the restart goes through? I understand that he will not train this week but nothing mentioned about next week or any future time.

Aindro, the current training programme for all Clubs including Chelsea is the safest of all and employs social distancing if Kante is concerned about joining in at this stage whilst not impossible it’s difficult to see him change his mind with the further steps down the road and obviously there’s no social distancing in games but we’ll see fingers crossed he’s not alone though in taking this action amongst PL players.

Re City given what’s in the public domain which is a lot you would think the best City can hope for is a reduced ban to one year which would make 5th place a CL place.

    I hope we don’t need it.😊 Cheers 9’s

Yeah 999, looking at how we had to serve the transfer ban until recently, I cannot see City can escape this Europe ban either. They could hope for 1 year ban, but I think there’s no way they will escape from the ban. I think all the better for us should the league does not restart as every possible calculation that can be used will still keep us in the top 4. But let’s see how everything will unfold. With Bundesliga already restarted and probably Serie A soon, I cannot see Premier League not doing it too.

I watched 2 Bundesliga matches last weekend, it’s still awkward though. I feel there were a lot of hesitations. To tackle or not, to celebrate a goal or not … It’s not back to normal yet
