While Kanté will be a big plus for us, in the current formation: I think Kovacic and Jorginho seem to be more suitable to occupy the central midfield. Moreover he has a lot of injuries this season. Hopefully Frank Lampard will find a way to accomodate Kanté, to find again his best form like when he won the title for Leicester and for us.
Covid, I read that Mayor Khan is concerned that football may lead to coronavirus spread again. Hopefully everybody but especially fans will follow all the guidance that will be implemented for everybody’s safety.May 29, 2020 at 5:05 pm #1846342
I hope I’m wrong but I suspect Liverpool fans will be everywhere once the PL title is confirmed and they won’t follow the guide lines. That’s why their games are the focus of potential neutral venues.
Realistically I don’t think it will make much difference though because if Liverpool win the title at Wembley for instance as a designated neutral ground by the PL then I fear 10’s of thousands of Liverpool fans will be swarming all over the streets surrounding Anfield once the title is officially won.
Which won’t help with Cov19 I hope I’m mistaken though.May 29, 2020 at 5:14 pm #1846343
A fully fit Kante should be the first name on the Chelsea team sheet imo and I suspect based on what Frank has said previously that’s probably how he sees it too but the mind as well as the body has to be fully fit.
Let’s wait and see where we are in a few weeks I’m still hopeful Kante will play his part in the last 9 games and that it will be important for him to do so if Chelsea are going to have the best chance of securing CL football.June 1, 2020 at 3:58 pm #1846789
I just found this article. If the government does not give a green light for the restart due to anything (2nd wave, etc), there seem to be a lot of club that would vote for no relegation. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/11998347/premier-league-restart-up-to-10-clubs-want-relegation-scrapped-if-season-is-curtailedJune 4, 2020 at 8:14 pm #1847251

Well, it has been a while since I last posted here. and the conditions didn’t let me post. since then we have reached an agreement with Werner or at least that is the reports we are getting. while most have welcomed him, I’m worried about how he will fair and the wages he is rumoured to be offered are also concerning to me with some of our best players yet to sign a new deal. I hope Frank plays both him and Abraham together. because I watched Werner and he is not a target man. he is bet when he is playing with another striker or on the left-wing. and I’m a massive fan of Pulisic since he offers goal threat from the left flank, and Zyech to play on the right, I suspect Frank won’t bench Mount as he is his favourite. for that reason, I’m anxious to see how Frank fits all of those players in the system.June 12, 2020 at 6:24 am #1848292
CM it’s also a concern I have we or should say Frank has just integrated all these excellent youngsters only for their regular playtime to be cast in serious doubt if these signings do happen, there are a couple more highly rated players besides Werner being linked to us, Frank is not really a big rotater of players so I would if possible take on Werner as we do need a more prolofic striker and possibly a tall centre half as many others have also suggested and that’s it. We have depth in young players who have hardly featured besides the regular young squad players. The keeper is a bit suspect but I think we need to persevere with what we got for now and see how that area performs. I personally would have preferred the season to be over as we have other clubs with CL intentions right on our back, it would have been easier for Frank to start afresh next season he is still a young coach early in the job and needs time to sort out everything. He has a massive task ahead of him.June 12, 2020 at 11:18 am #1848327
Good to see you back on here posting again Chelseaman. Stay safe both you and yours.
Very difficult balancing act trying to get up alongside City and Liverpool and bringing through the best of our Academy hopefully blending circa three or four quality players with what we’ve already got and what’s coming through from the Academy will accelerate that.
We’ll seemingly almost certainly be losing Pedro and Willian so that’s two who need replacing and one or two others will almost certainly be leaving too.
I will be suprised if Frank discards any of our best young players and there will be plenty of games to play next season.
As Chelseaman rightly says Werner plays mainly from the left and would fit in well with Tammy and having another goalscorer like Werner for opposition defences to worry about should create more goalscoring opportunities for Tammy.
Trust in Frank, Big Pete and Marina fellas. Cheers All 9’sJune 12, 2020 at 1:28 pm #1848351
Yes, I feel for Frank. This season started for him August last year and looks like it will span near on 12 months in total. A tough initiation for him in what has most likely been a psychologically and emotionally draining period.
I wonder if the club sees the writing on the wall regarding Hudson-Odoi not playing football in the near future. They appear to be shopping accordingly.June 12, 2020 at 5:36 pm #1848391
I would like to clarify my opinion about the imminent arrival of Werner, I have no worries about his abilities as a goal-getter and his speed is up with Public and others. but you know the PL is a tough league to play, he will need an adaption period and you know the media will stir the pot with one or two below-par performance. for that reason, I’m worried about how he will cope with the physicality of the league and that has to do with the toughness of the league and not his ability as a player. the other one is Pulisic’s best position in on the left flank of our attack. right now he is the closest we had to Hazard in technique and speed. so I’m not keen to see him benched. the best way would have been 4-4-2 with Werner and Abraham, the Plus Pulisic and Ziyech as the wide players, Kante and Kovacic as the two midfield players, and I selected them just because of their work rate and stamina to withstand the press, unlike our other midfielders.
I know I’m harsh or Mount and the young Billy, but they have a whole career ahead of them and they will have their chances. Reece James has made the right-back his own, but the other three positions are up for grabs in my opinion. even include Rudiger whilst he has been out for so long, he seems to not able to concentrate for 90 minutes. Christensen, Emerson, Batshuayi and Alonso are definitely goners, but I would have kept Alonso because of his attacking prowess, and instead, I would have sold Emerson. keep Azpi as a back up for James, and Zouma should be kept because of his height and physicality, we need a left-back who can balance the art of defending and attacking, Chilwell is my prefered man, but I’m not too keen to see Chelsea pay that quoted fee of £85m. that will be silly to spend that amount on a player, and sometimes the price tag plays an important part in how the player may settle at a certain club. such huge price tag comes with pressure, ask Torres, Sheva, Dimaria, Robinho, Morata, Pogba Maguire, and Kepa, how those players struggled with the weight of the huge price tag on their shoulders is testimony that we should look elsewhere should the deal is above £50m.June 12, 2020 at 6:10 pm #1848399
Chelseaman, if Chelsea were to buy Chilwell I guarantee they won’t spend anywhere near £85m on him. Trust in Frank, Marina and Big Pete.June 15, 2020 at 1:38 am #1848711
I think it will be interesting to see whom Frank Lampard will start against Villa in 1 week. Would Lampard start the usual like before the pandemic? Or would he take some risks to start players who were injured at that time like Pulisic or Loftus-Cheek or CHO? Kante seems to be ready, so good news.
About Werner, I have big doubts as our German imports except Ballack IMO weren’t that successful. I haven’t watched a lot of him but last RB match he was not impressive. He is quick and hardworker though, I like that. But if we get him for 53m, I think it’s worth a try. Morata cost the same amount more or less and it was a total failure. Kepa cost way more and not successful either. Werner scores regularly in Bundesliga, hopefully he will be able to perform too in the Premier League.June 15, 2020 at 11:11 am #1848772
Good win v QPR let’s hope we’ve saved some goals for next Sunday.😊June 15, 2020 at 3:30 pm #1848854
Won’t be an easy job. Villa may be readier than us as they will play on Wednesday and they need points to fight against relegation. Hopefully we will finish 4th, so we won’t depend on Man City’s appeal to qualify for the UCL next season. But 1 match at a time. Looking forward to watch Chelsea again this Sunday.
Would RLC start after his 2 goals against QPR? Would Gilmour start as as far as I know Jorginho is still suspended? Would Giroud start ahead of Tammy considering his fine form before the pandemic?June 15, 2020 at 6:12 pm #1848877
Jorginho suspended v Villa back after then.June 30, 2020 at 2:34 pm #1852927
On the back of the Leicester lockdown Richard Masters says if this extends to other Cities the PL may have to curtail the season.
