I have allowed myself to get excited which probably means we are doomed. Really looking forward to kicking off the new season and I think I am excited as I don’t really know what to expect. So many uncertainties, will we stick with a back 3, Players fitness levels, Is Luiz is fit, Is Ozil back in the mix, who will be the 1st choice keeper? I think the only 100% Guaranteed starters if they are fit are Xhaka, Pat and Tierney. We have not seen the behind doors friendlies so don’t know who has been playing well what position players have been playing or why we conceded 5 goals in two games against crap teams, so its all a total guess at the moment. My Team would be 3 at the back Martinez, Hector, Holding, Luiz, Tierney, Saka, Xhaka, Ceb, Pat, Laca and Pepe. I would drop AMN as I feel Xhaka is better in the final 3rd. If we do try 4 at the back then Willian on the left Pat down the middle Smith Rowe or Ozil in for Saka to play behind Pat. Last one is massive longshot but I really have no idea what will happen but looking forward and I am cautiously optimistic it will be a good season.

    I’m excited too
Only because arteta has shown we have another way now and a bit of steel
Not expecting miracles but I’m certainly expecting a win here !

Only one thing excites me and that is the manager. The way he won the trophy with a squad who was lost in the dressing room when he took over is applaudable. There are still some obvious holes in the squad,It’s imprative we sign mids now.

It’d be interesting to see what kind of formation we adapt to.I think he’s going to revert to his original formation and not play 3 at the back.

Curious to see how the new defenders perform. Both talented but both very inexperienced so it’s certainly a gamble.

Just seen That Luiz is definitely out and so is Sok so we will have to play one of the new guys whether we play back 4 or 3 which I assume will be Saliba, just as he has been here longer and they will just move Holding to the middle of a back 3.

Willian and no Pepe and no Saliba and Marg is in only having trained less than a week and Martinez rumours true ! Please let this work or Arteta is going to get grief as it seems like a lot of gambles!

    Very good start indeed
No complaints from me and a great result away from home!
3 assists from willian and a clean sheet from gabriel and Leno !

That’s why I guess we need to trust Arteta!!

Great result we could not ask for more away from home first game of the season. 3 points 3 goals and a clean sheet. Every one had a good game and the biggest thing I got today was we have a very strong bench. Thought Marg and holding were solid but Holdings distribution is still not great. Elneny was very good And the midfield worked today. My only question is AMN. He is not offering any real attacking threat and his passing is still erratic. He is great defensively but we did not need this today. On top of this I thought Fulham were very poor and on today’s small evidence they will be going straight down.

Great win but even though we did not need a creative CM because of Fulhams poor defending I still believe we will struggle against low playing defence who actually can defend.

Also sad to see Martinez go but I guess we really needed the money. I hope that is used against Aoure and that not all is spent on replacing Martinez. As would be worse of then.

It’s only going to be circa 20 million and we need another keeper so we will only be left with net profit of 5 to ten million so won’t be enough to fund or even part fund a midfield but.

Also interesting quotes from Arteta re saliba. He is not injured and not in the squad when we were down to bare bones at centre half. he saw enough of Marg in two days to play him above him and he also must not think at this moment he is better than holding. It also looks like Holding will be staying. And we still have Mustafi to come back who was first choice on that right side before he was injured. Could this mean maybe Saliba sent out on loan?

I dont think Mustafi will have a shot at a starting spot as for not playing Saliba could very well be that he thought the risk was lower with throwing Gabriel in the deep end rather than him.

Then again Arteta picks the players doing his job in training so it could only be that.

Agree Steve which why i dont really see the sense in selling him unless it was because Martinez wanted Arteta to guarantee his first spot which I doubt he will never do regardless of the position.

great start for us but we know these next 3 away games v pool, citeh
& utd will tell us a lot more.fantastic debuts from gabriel &
willian proved why arteta was right to sign him.said in a post a
couple of weeks ago that the likes of saka and even pepe can learn
a lot from him.great start and a clean sheet very welcomed.if we
can beat west ham then at least we go to anfield confident, and
whatever happens there’s a lot for us to look forward to under
    arteta.

gutted like most fans that martinez will leave but if it means we
can go and get a partey, then i think we would settle for that
because we still need that bit more beef in midfield and partey
would be a great signing and if we can get him then i think we
have a great chance for top 4.all in all nothing to get carried
away by,but plenty of positives and i’m finally looking forward
    to the season now.

I would pick Aoure before Partey because he is someone who has the abillity to unlock a lowsitting defence so If we cant get both i would prefer Aoure

I’ll tell you what, the performance under Arteta can still be more dominating.I thought we played reasonably well.I noticed something, the whole spirit of the team seems so united. The communication has improved so much. Not even under Wenger this decade did I see the players actually caring and fighting so much for the shirt.

But again, we need midfielders.Don’t get fooled,I’ve said it many a time that every piece of the puzzle matters.

Very disappointed to see Martinez go, but to be honest I will say it again with this mentality of “having to sell players to purchase another” is so disorienting and so Unconvincing. We Will never ever come close the PL no matter who the manager is under these owners I’ve always maintained.

However, the target is to finish in the top 4 I guess so we need to sign both those midfielders or else no chance.

Fulham are clearly the poorest team in the PL so beating them 0-3 is what would expect. Defence looked good but nothing creative from Xhaka and what can Elneny offer that others can’t. Forget Mustafi, I doubt he will figure at all, much prefer Holding or Saliba. Dump Sokratis, Mustafi and Kolasinac. Problem is with those 3 no one will pay money for them. Selling Martinez for that fee is a disgrace, he gives the defence more confidence than Leno, his whole persona is far calmer. West Ham look poor, 3 more points.

Not sure why people are writing off Mustafi when he was first choice before his injury and Holding has been ok but not as good as Mustafi before the injury. Holding still has a bit to prove before he would be my automatic first choice. Don’t see Saliba being first choice for a while as Arteta clearly thinks he is not good enough at the moment. If we are lucky and can shift tor and get a back up keeper for 1 million we may be able to afford a midfielder. Surely there must be Cheaper options outside Parted and Aurier but don’t see us linked to anyone else

Because I think Mustafi will be behind Gabriel, Luiz and even Holding and Saliba later on. He also is in his final year and i doubt it will be renewed. So we might be looking to sell either now or in January. He might play sure but that will probably not be until end october which means If others do well he might not be selected
