You know what lads, the first team I ever trained with, just won their first championship. UMFS or Ungmennfélag Selfoss, which basically mean youth club of Selfoss, which is my hometown. Sadly it was not the football division but the handball division in Iceland which is pretty pro actually. That’s where I got my one of my best coaches ever, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thorir_Hergeirsson Þórir Hergeirson.. I don’t know how he did but he drilled every tactic the first team had into us lads at the age of 12.

Handball is a pretty simple game, cause there are not that many player, you got two guys in the corner, you got two guys with a lethal arm behind them linking up with one guy connecting everyone, then one guy disrupting the defense on the line and the goalie.

The funny thing about handball is that you don’t really discuss the formation you are attacking in but the defense… Usually described as a 6-0, 5-1 or a 3-3 etc. After a couple of sessions under this coach, I quickly figured out that teams would get stigmatized for favoring this formation or that one. Truth was though that every team had to learn every formation because every game fluctuated.

Football is played with 10 players, that’s why I like it more, its more complicated. Tactics in football go beyond that, especially Klopp’s. Rafa was so predictable, every attack started the same and most attacks were finished the same.

I reckon we will take this game, there is no doubt in my mind, the lads got to the final of the Champions League again! And in my mind we are still undefeated in the league as Kompany should have been sent off! Anyways YNWA as I listen to Wish you were here..

I cant find a thread for Sturridge but what a professional he has been despite his injury woes. Always ready to make a impact and I really hope he goes abroad as I reckon he is one of those lads that will enjoy it. Like the States… I reckon he could blitz the league over there with a record scoring season… any team would be lucky to have him?

Same goes for Moreno who I think the squad will miss the most… YNWA lads ❤

He mentioned a few times he might not be around to see out the end of the season. That was a couple of years ago.

I don’t think he ever gave any specific details.
But it’s safe to assume he had a terminal illness, unfortunately.

    Daniel Sturridge on Liverpool:

“Liverpool, man – that’s my club. I have kept my house and I’ll go back there when I retire. The people of Merseyside have treated me brilliantly from the day I went there. When they fall in love with you, they’re not scared to show you that love.

“I have told Mike Gordon that when I am done as a player, I want to be involved with the club again. I don’t know if I am going to be cut out to coach and haven’t decided if I want to do the badges anyway. I won’t rule it out but Liverpool FC knows that I’ll sell hotdogs outside if it wants me to.

“That club saved me and I will always owe them.”

happy new year lads… Its been a good one in the football sense of things and I have to say job well done for getting a long this year…

I can´t remember a single feud between us, I hope it continues like that as I got to say that I quite enjoy the company despite the numerous misunderstandings between all of us over the years…

YNWA actually stood for something as this one year I´ve seen everyone unite together, I´ve never liked the uglier sides of football… Like I never understood the hooligans and I hate the namecalling of anyone… It doesn´t even matter to me if its a rival player or not and everyone here for the most part has been very respectful of each others opinions.

Lets make the new one better than the last <3

Anybody else notice the similarities between England’s goal against Croatia and Terry Mac’s opener in the 1977 European Cup Final in Rome? Terry Mac’s was much better of course as his was a clean strike that easily beat the keeper – unlike Sterling who nearly messed it up.

I was reading this article on soccernet, they often come up with some good stuff… there is nothing here on TT except rumours which sucks!

    https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/38742563/why-goalkeeper-never-win-ballon-dor-again

I think FIFA should change the goalkeeper role, just make the last man in defense allowed to handle the ball, have all 11 players in the same shirt.

I reckon we would see more goals and more attacks with the freedom that would allow… just my honest opinion 🤷

Firstly, Bingo, it’s ‘never’ going to happen as FIFA are so resistant to make any changes to the fundamental laws of the game and I’d think that this one would be a good way down their consideration list as it doesn’t cause a fundamental problem to the officiating of the game. In fact, it would create a problem for the officials as it would result in more VAR delays as they were drawing lines to decide which player – and at which time in an opposition move (?) – was the ‘last defender’.

That said, there are other, more objective ways to do this such as: the last player to handle the ball (in the area) becomes the designated keeper until the ball crosses the half-way line, then that keeper becomes undesignated and then it’s up for grabs for the next player to become the designated keeper by handling the ball in the area. Or it could be done on a, for example, 30 seconds period after the designated keeper last handled it. But would this all mean that everybody has to wear keeper’s gloves for the whole game?

All in all, though …… it’s just not going to happen.

As a GK coach myself, I am hoping that your post is indeed ‘tongue in cheek’ otherwise it’ll go down as your best work to date Bingo.

Lol of course Im serious hahaha…. nahh I just hadnt figured out how many rule changes had been made to the role over the years… It could have been totally different, like just allowing the last man to collect the ball with his hands, we used to play that way at the kindergarten anyways when nobody wanted to be the goalie…
