@happy – Saddling ourselves with McOaf for another 5 years at 100k plus per week is total madness. His contract doesn’t fully expire for over two years anyway, so there is no need to do anything drastic at this point. These are the sorts of uninformed decisions that have haunted this club ever since the gimps took over with the likes of Jones, Smalling, Martial, Rojo, Shaw, Bailly, Lindelof etc etc etc being kept on for far longer than their talents ever deserved.
Plus, if you analyse properly what all those players have given us this season in terms of appearances and performances it’s not difficult to conclude that you actually CAN and SHOULD get rid of all of them in one window if at all possible, and they would not be missed one little bit, simple as that.

The torture just never stops. We cant have McOaf giving away the ball for fun to opponents.
If Ratcliffe is found of bringing in English players and managers we are doomed for another decade and his purse will dry up really quick. Pure madness!

If we could buy in three to four top players, not necessarily world class just with a ceiling to be world class and a few free agents then we could get rid of a lot of players. Zirkzee and Olise won’t break the bank. Neither should the guy from Nice, Todibo. We need a centre mid though, Mainoo is still young. I’d rather get a 26/27 year old in that position. Rabiot and Zielinski are both available on a free this summer. We’ll get three or four years from them and that gives time for a young mid to mature or to target a new one in two years time.

Wouldn’t touch Olise mate, he’s forever injured and we’ve got enough of them. As for Todibo, it appears that Ratcliffe, despite owning Nice, has been unable to force through a move. Bizarre really. Agree about a CM though, it’s an absolute must that we get one, but only because we can’t afford two.

If we could get Rabiot and Zielinski on frees that would really help our midfield, let Eriksen and, if we got suitable offers, McT go even with the new contract he’s purportedly being offered. We’d lighten the load on Mainoo and have two world class CMs. Both are mobile, strong enough to compete in the PL and can show the younger players how to properly control a midfield. Personally I think Rabiot should be a no-brainer. For a guy who was reportedly sick for the world cup final to come back and impose himself on the game the way he did, it shows the kind of mental fortitude we’re so badly lacking.
As for Todibo, if he doesn’t want to come then we don’t want him. I’d rather have players who want to be here than overpay someone who doesn’t.
I rate Olise and I don’t think he’s that bad injury-wise. He’s missed a lot last and this season but I don’t think he has before that.

Rabiot and Todibo are my first picks and would stabilize our spine tremendously.
Rabiot on a free with a sign on fee lets say £50M for both is well worth the money.

I think Todibo has notions of returning to Barca to prove himself, they can’t afford him though and won’t be able to for a while. They’re massively down on revenue this year as they’re renovating the Camp Nou. They’ve even said that season ticket holders can give up their tickets this season and get them back next year as they don’t want to go to Espanyol’s ground. As I said though, if he doesn’t want to come, let him off.

I rate Olise as well, but once you start having chronic hamstring issues with potential surgery to fix it then we cannot be spunking big money on him. He’s already had a 3 month, a 2 month and a 1 month absence this season and has only made a total of 11 appearances all season. We can’t be having yet another Mason Mount under any circumstances, simple as that.

Just saw that Mario Hermoso of Atletico is available on a free this summer. 28 yr old CB, Spanish international. We should be all over this, also having been trained by Someone he should know how to work hard and some of the dark arts as well

Don’t usually watch Ingerland but I watched tonight to see Mainoo. Absolutely fucking brilliant.

JM – I was going to say that we might be seeing something special with Kobi Mainoo after that England performance. His ability to turn into players with the ball and not lose it is phenomenal.

Agreed, we need to look after him and not let him burn out/get injuries by playing too many games at this early stage.

Compare and contrast Mainoo in possession of the ball with the likes of McOaf, its like he’s playing a completely different sport.

Looking at Garnacho and Mainoo. When the talk of the season is 2 teenagers. Tells you what a bad state the squad is in.

It tells you also how incompetent ETH is when buying Mount and loan Amrabat.

The question now is: how do we find 2 other young midfielders in world football who are like Mainoo before he came into the first team (i.e. 18 / 19 year olds who are super skillful and need first team football to show what they can do).
Forget big signings anymore – let’s buy young and give people a chance. I’d give Kambwala one of the main CB slots next season too; him, Martinez, Varane and a proper 4th CB and I’m happy.

Has anyone else noticed that our resident knackerbag CB Rafa Varane has actually started more games this season than any of our other central defenders? In fact, since it was announced that we wouldn’t be extending his contract on the current terms and that he is free to talk to other clubs he has hardly missed a minute of football.
    Funny that!🤔😂😂
