There was a time when Ole had the team playing really well, particularly on the counter attack. We were scoring loads of goals. Remember how many times we went behind only to come back and win? The consensus seemed to be that an experienced coach with a modern thinking approach to pressing etc would take the team to the next level. Now clearly some of the players aren’t good enough but some of them are. The dressing room atmosphere is one of the most important things, something i think Ole had working pretty well. I remember when he got rid of Sanchez and Lukaku and said that he’d rather have holes in his squad than arseholes. I think that’s actually really important for building a team spirit.
Some of the players that have already left like Pogba and Lingard i believe were creating the shit atmosphere in the dressing room. That’s going to have a positive effect on the squad.
ETH needs to add 4 players this summer and get the team playing in his image, his way. Then another 4 next summer and we’ll be competing.

You’d have to think that the players in the starting 11 next season will still consist of De Gea, Shaw, Maguire, Varane (when fit), Bruno, Sancho and Ronaldo.
So it’s 2 midfielders, a right back and a winger that he needs this summer. Then he’ll spend some time figuring out if Rashford can get back to his best. In some ways it’s next summer that’s more important because we simply can’t get rid of that many players this summer.

@Happy-Unless they get some serious quality in before the window closes then top half would be a great achievement for ETH next season.

I used to be far more optimistic and up for giving players, managers, everyone a chance but as the years roll on and we end up further in the wilderness, i have to admit i am far closer to where Blacky is on it. I fucking detest these players and couldn’t even go and watch them.

For the first time in 30 years i stopped watching Utd at the end of last season and i was surprised how much better form i was in. No idea why i have reengaged this transfer window and had big expectations. It’s just a pain in the bollix watching the club make a laughing stock out of themselves in the transfer market with their amateurish approach.

Think its time to chill the fuck out and enjoy the summer. Will check back in and see where we are at the start of next season. Its the hope that always fucking kills you.

Yep, agreed N1xer. Let’s hope we sign at least 4 players before long.

Sorry Sympathy, disagree about the ability of that list you posted mate. They’re all bang average at best in my opinion. The only cunt we signed with ability is Pogba. Pity he didn’t have a backbone. The rest, including Bruno I’m afraid, are fucking woeful.

    #2106155

@jm1502 – that’s fair enough mate, as mentioned everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think all of the players have had at the very least a handful of matches were they looked class, which tells me they have the talent but just not the mentality or ability to maintain it for more than 1 match in 100.

    Cheers

All our players have ability, as pointed out earlier in this thread, or maybe another, what they don’t have is the mental strength to produce that ability on a consistent basis. If ETH can get them producing then he should have a job for life

JM – Bruno has the ability to be the best goal scoring midfielder in the world. We’ve already seen that.

Is there anything more embarrassing than the Pogmentary? Is Paul Pogba the most detached from reality football player ever?

I am glad he has put that out because now everyone can see him for the cunt he is. He is a glorified YouTuber who plays the game in moments and needs others to put the hard yards in for him. Not having him in the changing room next year should have a positive impact on the club.

Did anyone see that leaked video online of Richard Arnold meeting the fans? Apparently they were planning a protest at his house so he went and met them at the pub and bought them a few rounds. Said some really interesting stuff like the money is there for ETH to rebuild the squad this summer. The 2 players mainly responsible for the leaks to the media have left the club (Pogba and Lingard) and a 3rd player who was caught and got a serious bollocking is leaving the club shortly (believe that’s Henderson).
When asked about the stadium refurb he said no club in the world can afford it, they have to take a massive loan or get investors/sponsors. Spurs have a billion pound loan for theirs? The protests have seriously impacted sponsorship so they have “worked” to an extent, but actually weakened the clubs ability to refurb the stadium it sounds.
He talks about last season being an absolute disaster and a disgrace, it’s actually really interesting – shame they filmed it and leaked it online as i think that probably broke the trust.

But he is determined to get the club back where it belongs, threw in a snide dig about Woodward as well!

Getting rid of Jones, Martial, Bailly and Henderson would be a very solid start – 10 players out and a lot of bad eggs in that 10.

We then need to start phasing out the poor players in the first 11 and that is where signings come in, promoting young players who are good enough and last but not least, superior coaching of players like Sancho and others to bring out their best consistently.

Any soundbites from United, direct or indirect, accidental or deliberate, will remain just that. Soundbites. We’ve all had enough of the clickbait.

    #2106790

Whilst it was nice that we got to hear what Arnold said, the fan who recorded and shared it is an idiot because now there’s no doubt Arnold or any senior members will ever share such info with fans again.

Didn’t he pretty much outline our transfer policy, how much spend and that we’re desperate to sign De Jong?

Thought it was refreshing to hear him admit a lot of what the fans have been critical about. Was fucking daft though to secretly record him and put it out.

IKA – He didn’t say it but when the fans asked if it was Pogba and Lingard who were behind the leaks he smirked and nodded apparently.

ESPN suggest Ralf Rangnick’s exit from United came about because Erik ten Hag was reluctant to work with the German in a consultancy role.

It is reported that United instigated the termination of the agreement after consultation with Ten Hag, although Rangnick was already unhappy at not being granted a formal handover to the new manager.

They also claim United asked Rangnick to sign a non-disclosure agreement as part of his departure.

Makes sense. When they employed Ralf they probably didn’t expect to give the next manager so much control. I think they have given that to ETH. And he chose his own path, fair enough.
